DataSource Controls :: Stored Procedure Not Returning Value

May 15, 2010

I call this stored procedure with a dataset. It always returns a 0 but should return a 1 or 2. Does anybody know why it isn't returning a 1 or 2.

ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.sp_InsertLinkVote
@LinkId int,
@LinkVoter nvarchar(50),
@LinkVotesDateTime datetime,
@LinkVotesGoodBad bit
LinkVoter = @LinkVoter )RETURN
dbo.LinkVotes (LinkId,LinkVoter,LinkVotesDateTime,LinkVotesGoodBad)VALUES

Here is were a call it in my code behind.
Dim VoteCheck
Dim InsertVote
New DataSetStoredProceduresTableAdapters.QueriesTableAdapter
VoteCheck = InsertVote.sp_InsertLinkVote(LinkId, User.Identity.Name, DateAndTime. Now,
'0 is a good vote.
If VoteCheck = 0

It seems to insert and not insert correctly, I just cannot get it to return the correct value.

CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.exp2 @testchar Char(1)
declare @flag as char(2)
set @flag = @testchar + '%'
select userid

DataSource Controls :: Eliminate Returning Of Empty Table From Stored Procedure

Jul 12, 2010

I have a Procedure which should return only 1 Record on selecting record according to Priority.

DECLARE @Accounts nvarchar(MAX)
SELECT @Accounts = ISNULL([map_user_modules].[Accounts], '') FROM [map_user_modules]
WHERE [map_user_modules].[id_user] = 231 AND [map_user_modules].[id_module] = 5
IF ((@Accounts = '') OR (@Accounts = 'All'))
SELECT @Accounts = null

Select @@ROWCOUNT as Priority2

Select @@ROWCOUNT as Priority3

Select @@ROWCOUNT as Priority4

In the above statement Suppose we take a scenario where Select @@ROWCOUNT as Priority3 is executed, I get two tables returned, One is the Table returned by Select @@ROWCOUNT as Priority3 and the other is the Table returned by Select @@ROWCOUNT as Priority2 which has no Records. How can I eliminate the Empty table that returns no records.

DataSource Controls :: Stored Procedure Returning Null But Executes At SQL Server

Jul 1, 2010

I am using
SqlHelper.ExecuteDataset(MyConnectionString, CommandType.StoredProcedure, "GetInformation", new SqlParameter("@ID", ID));

In my stored Procedure, I am doing a lot of calculation with joins and it took 19 sec to execute at my sql Server 2008. My application had been working perfectly for 5 days but now as database increases, I found a problem that my connection is breaking at that point. At Sql Server, it execute fine but when I add a breakpoint and watch the stored procedure is returning null.

I am trying to return single string result through a stored procedure and Linq. This works fine when I test the stored procedure but it is not returning the value to the page. The value returned is always 0 which is the return value. This is the stored procedure:

Data Controls :: Mark Attendance Of Students (Present Or Absent) In Database Using GridView

Mar 18, 2013

In my website there is 1 module in which i m fetching data(Student name, Roll no.) of students from the student master table into gridview... and in that gridview there is 1 checkbox column...

I want that when i will check the checkbox of those students who are present...dat checked students and name should be get entered into another table in database where there wil be present written in front of checked students and absent written in front of unchecked students.....

I tried a lot but I am not getting it.....

From the above table(student info) i wil fetch data in gridview and will mark attendance in the gridview

In the above sample gridview in the student name column the name of the students is fetched from student info table, when I will check the checkbox and select the date and click on the button the students who are checked will be stored with a status present and those who are unchecked are stored as absent in  another table

The following is the table(example) is  where the data is to be stored in the same manner. It means that total two tables are there in the database.

From 1 table i fetch data of students info in gridview and in another table i wil save the attendance marked in gridview....

DataSource Controls :: Returning Primary Key Of New Database Row

Jul 9, 2010

In my application, users fill out a form to submit a "Job Request" - once they submit the form it is stored as a new row in a table in the Sql database. Each "Job Request" that is submitted is given a "JobID" which is a number and also the primary key of the new row in the database (the number is generated by the database). Once the users hit the "submit" button, I'd like to return the value of the "JobID" (the primary key) so that the user can know what it is. How would I achieve this? In the future, I will have to expand the application so that the users would be able to edit an older "Job Request" and get a similar JobID number (so if before it was 1234, the new one would be 1234-1 or something like that), so this is not simply a matter of searching for the highest number in the primary key field in the table and returning that. I'm using Sql for my database and writing in VB.

DataSource Controls :: Queries Not Returning Proper Data?

Mar 17, 2010

I am having trouble with queries because they are not returning the data needed, and I am having trouble figuring out why because I only am testing with 2 records.First I want a query to return all records for one customer as follows:

There are two records with the customerID of 1, but it only returns one,next I try to return only one record, the AccountPrimary or customer_contacts.IsPrimary, but when I add " AND customer_contacts.IsPrimary = 'True' "at the end of my query it then returns both records, but only one IsPrimary = True and the Other = False. Is it backwards? I also tried another method and it returned 30 of the same record and I only have 2

Forms Data Controls :: How To Use A DropDownList With A DataSource Returning A Datatable

Jun 10, 2010

I am trying to use a datasource with a dropdownlist. Eventually, my data source method to call a stored procedure and load the datatable is returns, but for now, I am just creating the datatable manually. I need each item to have two attributes, the text, whixh the user will see in the DDL, and the value that the program will retrieve from and store back to the file.

It is partly working in that the DDL has 3 items, however the text for each item reads "System.Data.DataRowView"

I have to be close, but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

PFTObj.PFTLastName = newPFTLastName
PFTObj.PFTFirstName = newPFTFirstName
PFTObj.PFTHome = DirectCast(PFTFormView.FindControl("txtPFTHome"), TextBox).Text

are not returning the updated value from the form.

DataSource Controls :: Populating Data From A Stored Procedure / How To Manage

Apr 11, 2010

I'm looking for a steer on how to go about running stored procs efficiently.

I have a current requirement to populate a control, so I have all the specific data i.e the parameter value I need to pass and the control I want to populate, plus generic data such as SqlConnection etc.

I'd like to be able to call, say, "MyStoredProc". MyStoredProc would contain all the necessary information to run the proc, but then pass onto a method, say, GetSpData, which contained all the generic stuff about running stored procs.

Then when setting up MyStoredProc2 I could do without repeating a lot of the original function

Im I barking up the wrong tree or is there an efficient way of managing this kind of situation.
