Deployed Aspx Page Can't Access Methods From Same Project?
Nov 29, 2010
I'm using ASP.NET with VB, and .NET version 3.5. In the project, I've got some utility functions that I call from expressions in the aspx pages and also in code behind. This all works fine on my local machine, but when I deploy to the production server, I get this compilation error on each of those utility methods:
BC30456: 'XXX' is not a member of 'String'.
where XXX is an extension method defined on System.String. I'm baffled about this for a number of reasons:
Why is ASP.NET compiling anything at all, since I've precompiled the application and put everything in the bin directory. ASP.NET knows the functions are there because they work in code behind. It's only when used in the aspx page that I have this problem. (e.g. if I do something like this: <%= "A string to XXX-ify".XXX())%>) This method is public, which I verified with Reflector. I imported the relevant namespaces in the web.config file, and I can see that these namespaces are being imported in the call that ASP.NET makes to the compiler.
I'm developing a web site, and i'm using infragistics for web, but I want to use in some pages silverlight controls (Infragistics too). Is there a way to access a silverlight control's properties and methods from an aspx page?
I have got 3 aspx page and a usercontrol on each page have an email placeholder in it. What I want to acheive is when the customer click on the usercontrol email placeholder, certain method on a particular page should trigger. See below for the code:
using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Text; using Tangent.Breakingfree;
Also I have got another method on a different aspx page, I want to trigger that method when the client is on that page. The user control should trigger the right method depending on the page user is currently on.
Is it possible to do something like this inline in an ASPX page?
<%= Me.SomeExtensionMethod() %>
I can't seem to figure out how to get this to work properly. I'm receiving an error saying that "SomeExtensionMethod" is not a member of the current Page object. I've added the necessary <%@ Import Namespace="..." %> directive at the top of my page. This Does work in code-behind.This isn't vitally important, but it would be good to know how to do in the future.
I often have an issue with compile errors when I copy over a aspx page and code behind file from another project, it seems to work when I create another page and the content manually but if I just copy the files it won't. I have checked to make sure namespaces and references are ok but still doesn't make any sense. The error I get is "Error The name 'txtUser' does not exist in the current context". I just wanted to understand why.
We're migrating from the web site to the web application model. Is there a way to allow the designer to use ftp to upload a single aspx page (foo.aspx and foo.aspx.cs) without requiring the use of the VS2008 Publish feature? We're a small shop and haven't bothered using source control as it wasn't much of an issue with the web site model. If the designer uses the Publish feature my binaries will be overwritten. I know that static pages are compiled at run time so I thought this would be possible but my tests result in errors. I've clicked around for some guidance but come up empty handed.
I'm a lowly DBA.I am supporting a web app that allows users to upload images (among other documents). The system is deployed and working and not having issues with the uploads. However, I upgraded my development box recently and since then I have been encountering an "access denied" issue. Initially I thought it was a simple security issue but now it seems it is more complex.
how to add web service which is deployed in remote server. externally i unable to access that service..in that remote server only that service will run but we don't have Ms.net Environment to add service to my application in that server. how to add that web service to my application ,not accessig externally that service URl, internally Executing that URl. How can i add that service to my application on my developer PC ?
The HTML label control is on master page. And I want to access its value on other aspx.cs page. As there are many other control on the master page so i use the recursive function to access the value but NullReferenceException occurs... The code on aspx.cs page is as:
I have created a web service SampleWS.asmx [uses authentication mode="Windows" and identity mpersonate="true"]. Works fine on my dev using VS and Personal web server. Now to move this to QA I have created a Virtual directory called intg pointed it to a physical path on the server Now I have copied the (actually tried publish to this server folder and simple copy and paste) .asmx , dll folder and .cs to this folder on server First I received firbidden access for which I have set execute permissions on IIS to scripts and executables.This fixed the initial issue. The Web service extensions has allow for both 1.1 and 2.0 on IIS Now I receive the following error ..
Access to the path
C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv1.1.4322Temporary ASP.NET Filesintgaf936b4453b023c7"
I am maintaining a web site project in VS2005 and have to call a new web service on a remote server. I've done add web reference, and created the .wsdl and .discomap files in the app_webReference folder. When I try to create a object representing the web service in the code ( wsnamespace.serviceName ws = new wsnamespce.serviceName(); ) the code wouldn't compile.
The web site project is already calling other web services. When I right click on the type representing the web service and "go to definition" it takes me to a proxy class (derived from of course SoapHttpClientProtocol) in the metadata. I think this is what's missing for the new web service i'm trying to call. Have I missed any steps?
