I having problem to show footer template at data grid when there is an empty data. I need to show the footer template in order to let user input new record.

I am using a formview and trying to get the empty data template to display. How do I do this? I've tried not databinding, databinding when there is nothing in my table and it just doesn't show the empty data template.

Is there a way to still show the footer row so a user can insert additional rows into the grid despite it starting out as empty?

I have a gridview with insert new row controls in the footer binded to sql datasource. I want to show the footer when the datasource is empty. Although the empty data template is there but any other solution you fellows can tell me ?

Now management wants to SUM the Date's information by column, I have figured out how to do this by changing the BoundField to a TemplateField and then add a FooterTemplate with a SQL DataSource. When I Press either the Previous or Forward button the data does not change in my Sum'd Footer column.

I would like to find controls in the detailsview control placed in the EmptyData Template of the gridview. I am trying to create Insert new record for the gridview control.
1. If there are existing records in the table - works fine and sets my two values: I placed Detailsview and Insert Button in the footer of the gridview. I needed to set the values of two fields. When I click on the Insert button it saves new record and sets the field with the value (code attached - works fine). I also have a popup extender that opens detailsview - this works just fine.
2, If ther are not records in the table - saves record but cannot find and set controls on the detailsview Same thing setup in the EmptyData Template. The record is saved but I cannot Find and set the field value on the control.

I have a repeater control and in its footer temlate is a button (or 2 in the example) and I want to catch its click event but seem to not be able to.
I tried in the repeater itemcommand event and also I tried defining a subprocedure for the 'occlick' event but neither works..

I want to show a message when there's no data in my datalist. I found the following, but, I get an error on the bool. If you have another way to do this, great, but, I'd also like to try to do it this way as a learning experience.

How to display empty GridView to insert new record if no data retreived for some record on the result from data table?Actually i am trying to give a user an option to add recrod from Gridview. On result of some query it is perfectly displaying data and a footer row with the insertion textbox but when there is no data in the gridview it is not displaying. It should display with footer having insert textbox.
View 5 RepliesI have a listview control bound to an SqlDataSource. As part of the formatting I want to add a title to the data returned from my database. For instance if the data base returns a phone number I want to add 'Tel.' first. However I do not want to diplay this
title if the datafield is empty. Here is what I have done so far.
