Forms Data Controls :: Assigning Values From A Database To A Label?

I want to select all the values from a table in my database and then put each value in order into labels that are on the asp page.
I can Select all the values from that database fine but I am rather stuck as how to put the values into the individual labels? Here is the code I have connecting to my database.

How can I put the DateTime value into Label1 and the Decription into Label2??
I have had a nose about but can't seem to find the information I need.
This code returns MdaID and StateID, I want to assign them in this manner:
MdaIDLabel.Text = MdaID and StateIDLabel.Text = StateID, but I am not sure how to separate the two values and then to assign them as I have indicated above. Since my function has a "void" return -
MdaIDLabel.Text = GetMdaState({0}, 64114);
StateIDLabel.Text = GetMdaState({1}, 64114); - will not satisfy the requirement.

The Datalist is being databound via an ObjectDataSource and everything here works fine. I have a label which I've added to my datalist and it's unbound to anything. Depending on the message information, I want this unbound label to display a certain phrase but it has to be next to a bound label. But if I try to change the text of the label in the code-behind, VS2k8 reports that the label is not declared. How do I do this?
I have a very simple FormView that has several fields on it. There is a field that either returns a "1" or "0" based on conditions in the database. If the value is "1", I want to leave the label control as is (normal font, in black). However, if the value is "0" I want to change the font to bold and change the forecolor to red. Simple, right?
I am able to change the font-bold property using the code below, but if I use the code to attempt to change the font color, I get the following error message for this line:

I want to define SelectParameters for my SqlDataSource in markup and then assign values in code, but when I use the syntax:

It works the first time, but won't let me re-add the parameters on subsequent postbacks.
I can't use ControlParameters in this case because the values in the controls are loaded from xml files and some minor parsing needs to be done to the values before they're passed to the database.
In web config file I have add key values specified.
In the formview I have labels on edit , item and insert mode that I want to display all the time by getting those values from web config. I'm able to do that with no problem but when I change the modes between edit to insert or item view, I lose those label values until I hit the "select" twice from the Gridview, those values re-appear. Below is the snippet of the code. What do I need to do to retain the category values all the time?
I am trying to generate a Grid view from database, in one of my database columns the values are 'y' and 'N'. and i need to show this values in a check box .I tried to keep a check box in item template and tried to bind it, but could get much success.
I am trying to build a site that will display a word ("Synset" in my code) from a "function call", (ultimately the word will come from another database but I'm ignoring that part for now). The user will click one of 4 radio buttons deciding if the word is "positive", "negative", "neutral", or "can not be determined". Then the user clicks "Save" the word is saved a MS SQL database, the function is called displaying a new word and the process is repeated.
So far I have been able to get this to mostly work by using the code below. The problem is that the function is called and the correct word displayed when the page loads the first time, when I click a radio button and then the "Submit" button, the word and value from the radio button are saved to the database but then no new word is displayed. The text just disappears. The new word is created, as I can see that new words are saved to the database when i click submit.
I'm thinking the issue might be because I'm binding the text attribute of the label I'm using to display the word to the sqldatasource, because it's probably trying to display the text from the database?
I've tried putting the code that gets and displays the new word in FormView1_PageIndexChanging() and submitButton_Click() and neither work.
I've tried to just call Response.Redirect("Default.aspx") in submitButton_Click() and this displays the word but nothing is saved to the database.
I have a dataset which consists of a set of records. I have put this dataset records in a viewstate so that I can access it from a different method on the same page.

I have a label "UserId" that is assigned the logged on user's userid on page load with:

There is a textbox "User_IDTextbox" within the InsertItem Template of a FormView, and I am trying to write the UserID into that text box using this VB code in a subroutine:

I'm grabbing a value from my database with a repeater, and want to assign the value to a variable that I can parse and then send into javascript. 'videofile' is the variable from the database, and I want to assign the value to 'vidfile', parse it, and then inject into javascript:
My doubt is I am using a grid view that displays the content of many tables. i am using sql server 2005 for that. In a gridview column i have to display an appropriate image which will show when the value of another column and its row is having value as "Available". If the value is "NotAvailable" then the image column in gridview will show another image. How am i suppose to code it in three tier architecture.
I have a Datalist and when a button is clicked I would like to send the values of the fields to a new page to fill some text boxes. What is the best way to do this. I had thought that since the DataList had itemtemplates that were labels I could reference them like regular labels ( str = Label1.text ). That isn't working.I was just going to send the values through a query string. Which I have an example of that, unless there is a better way.
Using a class component, an Object data source and a formview I am successfully pulliing data from a SQL database. In some cases the rows contain one or more Null values and I would like them to be ignored completely. My simple code follows:-

Have used classic ASP, so im used to being able to place any field from a recordset whereever i want to putit , and i have just tried to recreate this event.Its got me a bit lost.. now i have read up and understand why it doesnt work - cant use DataItem in a HeaderTemplate - i get that, but how would you do something where you have complete control of the way the table is being set up? and you can use the contents of the container whereever you want, however you want?I just want to be able to get the values from database table, and put them into an html table, in a specific way.
I am tryingto update my data on a gridview.... i have two ddl's and two textbox...when i click on the one ddl it post the value of the selectedvalue into the textbox and this happens the same for the other one..... I am using the rowupdating event handler... and here is what i have so far...
