Forms Data Controls :: Error When Trying To Render Datagrid In Email.Control 'GridView1' Of Type 'GridView?

Aug 9, 2010

I can't figure out what I"m doing wrong.. I followed this sample online at
http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/091102-1.aspx to include a gridview in an email. But, it keeps throwing this error.. 'GridView' must be placed inside a form tag with runat=server.I've verified that the gridview is in a form, and there are no template fields in the gridview. Heres the gridview on my asp.net page..

Forms Data Controls :: Datagrid In User Control Generating A Callback Error?

I have a Gridview that I am using in a User Control. The grid loads great and my paging buttons that exist outside of the grid itself work properly. When I click my delete button inside the grid, I am getting an invalid postback message. How should I handle this? My control raises one event by the way.

Forms Data Controls :: Failed To Load Viewstate When Gridview Control - Replace Gridview With Datagrid

Apr 5, 2010

Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request. For example, when adding controls dynamically, the controls added during a post-back must match the type and position of the controls added during the initial request.

The above error occurs with gridview control , when used with template field columns with item template / and edit templates etc.
updating a row within gridview, at the time of loadiong it loads perfectly fined, but when tried to modify an existing row within gridview control, then it produces the error. Make sure the grid view control has to be a child control which manages the child table info with in a master form. to reproduce the above problem the grid view must be loading the child records info of a master within the masterform, meaning both master data and gridview data all to be managed in one single form.

I had to replace gridview control with datagrid and then it worked perfectly fine. I wasted almost 4 days of my time., there is no way we could figure out the problem. here is the full info of the problem.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Forms Data Controls :: GridView.DataKey Error: No Default Member Found For Type 'DBNull'?

Sep 16, 2010

I am binding SQL data to a GridView. The GridView's DataKeyNames property is set to the SQL column called "utID"

I know that within the SQL results, some of the utID values are NULL. After databinding to the GridView, I need to enumerate through the GridViewRows an read the DataKey values. However, when I try this I get the following error:

No default member found for type 'DBNull'. I am using the code below.

What object types are stored within DataKeys (I thought it was just integers or strings)

How to handle a NULL datakey value to prevent this error occurring?

I don't want to use Try Catch because it's too much of a 'hack'

Forms Data Controls :: Nested Gridview Render Underneath The Outer (parent) Gridview?

Apr 13, 2010

Using vb.net/asp.net 2005

I have a nested gridview (gridview within gridview) that I need to render beneath the outer gridview.

I keep finding examples online of showing a nested gridview in the last column of the outer gridview but I need to show my nested gridview instead under the outer gridview.

I was certain that I had done this before by putting a row (<TR>) inside the TemplateField so that the nested gridview would display under the outer gridview. I am getting the data ok for the nested gridview, that is not a problem. The only issue I am having is making the inner gridview display under the outer gridview.

btw, the error is below:

<ERROR>

Type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.TemplateField' does not have a public property named 'tr'.

</ERROR>

Forms Data Controls :: GridView And Html Select - Find The GV Object (getElementByID("GridView1") Returns Null)?

Jul 10, 2010

I have a webpage with a select object and a GridView object. For testing my problem i've created asp button and html button.On pageLoad the GV is empty and select is being filled with names. (GV is not appearing)After choosing a name from the select options, the user should click a button and then the GV need to be filled with relevant info.I am having 2 "related" problems:

1. When clicking on the asp button and getting into the click function on the aspx.cs file, i can't find the select object and retrieve the selected option. How can i get this?

2. When clicking on the html button and getting into the button_click function on the aspx file (javascript), i can't find the GV object (getElementByID("GridView1") returns null). I guess that it's because the GV is not loaded initialy since it's empty.I've tried also using callback methods, but the although it seems like i am reaching the GV and performing DataBind(), the GV table won't show on the page.

Forms Data Controls :: Default Sort "The GridView "GridView1" Fired Event Sorting Which Wasn't Handled

Feb 19, 2010

I have a page displays CRM data (with CrmService) in GridView. Everything run ok until I tried to sort out one field by default and I received the following exception: The GridView 'GridView1' fired event Sorting which wasn't handled. The reason I am using GridView to do the sorting because:

1) Cannot do it with SQL "ORDER BY" since date retrieval from CRM Web Service

2) Cannot use OrderExpression for QueryExpression from CRM because the column I want to sort is generated by my algorithm

GridView1.Sort("ColumnName" SortDirection.Descending);
in Page_Load, or Button1_Sort(object sender, GridViewSortEventArgs e), they all trigger the above execption!

I also added the method to the following method to handle exception, but didn't work:

protected void GridView1_Sorting(object sender, GridViewSortEventArgs e)
{
GridView1.Sort("ColumnName" SortDirection.Descending);
}
