I have a GridView in an update panel that is bound (in code-behind) to a business layer object. The first time this page is accessed, Editing, Deleting, Updating, etc. work fine. However, if I click my browser's refresh button, the functionality of the edit, delete, etc link buttons is gone. They do nothing.

COMPLETE NOOB, dont know anything.. I have a Virtual directory ~/ClubInfoFiles that i upload some files too using a uploader i made. I might want to change the uploader i made to be able to change to a subdirectory or something so i can upload all files into one folder but different subdirectorys. the uploader i would like to be able to have a dropdown menu of all the subdirectorys within "ClubInfoFiles" say i has subfolders : Minutes, Flight Plans, Maintence Records, etc... but i would also like a field to where i can create a new subdirectory and have it automaticly update the dropdown. i want to list those files in gridview and have a link to dowload/open and dellete the files. i have found some code that gets close but it uses Auto Generate columns. really i dont need all that jazz, just the Name, File extention, and hyperlink the file for download/view. i would like to be able to delete and possible upload using the gridview... is this to much for a noob?

my users haves different permission: some users can delete, and some users can editing in a gridview how can i allow this at specified users? and hidden the button ho allow the delelte or update record?

I have a GridView bound to an ArrayList of Custom Objects. I have a button as part of each row, which when clicked, I delete the row from the Arraylist, and re DataBind() the GridView. While this deletes the Row, it causes the Page to be refreshed that takes the User back to the top of the Page.
E.g. If the User clicks on the button of a row at the bottom of the Page, after the deletion, the Page gets refreshed and the User is now taken to the top of the Page.
This is irritating especially in long lists i.e. GridView with many rows. (I don't want to use paging here.) Is there any way to avoid this, or mitigate this problem.
I'm trying to create a nested gridview, but I'm stuck at the editing/deleting part of the nested gridview. (Below is my code).The nested gridviews are filling out nice, I've set the DeleteParameter in the SQLDataSource, but I'm still getting this error when trying to delete a criteria: 'The Gridview 'gvCriteria' fired event RowDeleting which wasn't handled.'I've tried to create a method 'gvCriteria_RowDeleting', but that didn't seem to work out.Someone who can give me a piece of advice? I am learning how to use repeater. I added two links to my repeater, a delete and an edit link. However, when I click either delete or edit link, they both take me to same method. How do I add the link such that when I click on edit, it take me to an edit method and delete takes me to a delete method. Below is a sample code.
Also, how do I delete a single row in a repeated. For example, I have a simple form that display an item description and a quantity. There are six item display on the form, but I wish to delete the third item. How can I pass in an id that will delete the third item rather than delete everything (i.e where item_id = 3)

I have an issue with linkbutton in asp.net gridviews or any data control.it doesn't work on single click.Is there a way to overcome this issue.
All my datacontrols are wrapped inside updatepanel with updatemode=Condtional.
In this repeater linkbuttons are generetaed with an onclick event.This onclick event sets a multiview to the corresponding view.The multiview is in an update panel as well.When a linkbutton in the repeater is clicked the corresponding view is shown, but a complete refresh of the page is done.How can this be prevented, because when I have just linkbuttons on the page (so not in a repeater) that set the multiview to the corresponding view, only the multiview is refreshed instead of the complete page

I am having trouble changing page numbers on my gridview after deleting a record if the deletion of the record causes there to be no more records on that page. Currently I have a form below the gridview that adds a record to the datasource of the gridview.

Now with this code above, if I insert a new record using the form below the gridview, it will reload and go to the new page if the insertion causes the record to appear on a new page, however when I delete that record, thus causing nothing to be on that page, the gridview visually just dissappears. I've got the gridview bound by a linqdatasource control, and on the page_load function I only databind if the page is not a postback.
I ahve displayed a group of data in my gridvew with the edit option linkbutton template field for each row. The gridview columns consist of employee name and projectname and total hours field employee worked.
So in this when i click the edit button using the datakeynames alue for project name id and employee id ,i have to redirect the page to another page with the values in the grid for the particular employee.so that i can update the totalhours field in the redirected page.and if i press the update button in that page then the page should be redirected to the gridview page with the updated value for the particular employee and project. The page which should be redirected consist of project name dropdownlist, module field,date field and total hours field. No employee name field.
Using the gridview rowdatabound field i have postbacked the url page with the project name id but it does not displays the project in the redirected page.And employee name i have to redirect with the session value i think?

I have a gridview pulling all data from one user. This gridview has an edit button and when that is clicked the gridview becomes too wide for the div/screen and I get a scroll bar. Since this gridview can only have one user in it anyway is it possible to display each field on seperate lines instead?

I have a GridView attached to an ObjectDataSource (returning a DataTable) in a UserControl. The code is really simple. Data comes down fine when the page is first rendered. When I click on Select or Delete (inside TemplateFields), RowCommand is supposed to fire but it doesn't, the page goes straight to Page_Load. I literally have 0 other event handlers that are set on this control and everything else in the codebehind shouldn't even fire if it's a postback. Also on postback, the Select and Delete buttons disappear. It looks like the TemplateFields are still there but they're empty. The data fields (all of two columns) post back fine.

I have a gridview that has allowPaging and AllowSorting set to true. It is bound to a sqldatasource with the selectCommand firing a sql query. The sqldatasource has EnableCaching = true, and caching duration = "60". The idea is to run the paging, sorting, etc from the cache.
A separate dataUpdate event updates the data that is being loaded in the grid view, but I am not able to see the change in the gridview data till 30 seconds (caching duration) .
What is the best way to force refresh the gridview data by the dataUpdate event?
I came across this artice that tells to use CacheKeyDependency, but when I implemented it, the gridview gets refreshed at every dataUpdate event, but also the paging and sorting fires the sqldatasource Selectcommand sql query. I want this query to be fired only on dataUpdate.
i want my gridView to be refreshed so i can vies the new records when i insert to formview.
Now i have to go to another address and back to se the updated record.
i cant even press f5 because then it just duplicates the record with the same text from the formview even if the fields in the formview are empty.

I have a table on my page. I need to scroll down a little to get to that table. In that table i have som data that i edit and save to database. When the save is done i need to refresh the page( Response.Redirect(Request.RawUrl )) so it loads the new data to that table. When the refresh is done the page is on top again so that i need to scroll down again to see the table. This makes it very unusable for the user.
How can i refresh the page without it going back to top again? I tryed wrapping an updatepanel around the table but it didnt
Using vb.net/asp.net 2005.I have an inner gridview.The outer gridview is "Authors" and in the inner gridview (GridView1 below) I have to set it up so that the user cannot delete the last book from the inner grid, if they try to delete the last book from that inner grid then I want to show the exception message below.
So I am checking the GridViewRows1.Rows.Count which works great when I have one record (one book) to start with. The problem is when I have 2 books (for example). I am writing out the test statement below and the RowCount is always 2 each time, never decremented, even after I rebind.Editing this now: i realize that my initial logic is faulty because when I rebind my inner gridview I am not specifying which inner gridview so the result is that only the last inner gridview is being re-bound, so I think that I need to get the selected inner gridview and then refresh that...

I am using VS2005 and SQL Server 2005. The problem I am having is when I call my SQLDataSource to delete rows the delete is firing twice. The trace and debugging show the code executing once. In fact right after the delete, the table only shows one delete, but right after the command function is exited the 2nd row is deleted. Also, I have tested the stored procedure to make sure it only deletes 1 one and then resequences the records.Show below are excerpts from my .aspx and code behind files.
