Forms Data Controls :: Missing Value In Some Rows When Populate Value In DropDownList (Datagrid)
Aug 10, 2010
So I have a dropdownlist and I'm trying to populate it with values in the database. For some reason, half of the rows has no value. It's happenning in a sequence as well, like the first row has no value, then the second row has value, then the third hasno value....
I'm tring to populate a datagrid using a stored procedure that returns about 20 fields (this part I figured out), but the kicker here is that for this one particular page I only want to display about 6 of those 20 returned fields.
I did find on passing the procedure the parameters that are required, and populating the datagrid, but haven't found anything (not that I can tell) that explains how to only view certain fields that have been returned.
I'm using VS 2008 and VB for my coding against a MS SQL 2008 server. All of the stored procedures are working with current windows applications.
I am in the process of creating a "news system", you can add, edit and delete news. The news items can be entered into the SQL database and you select a category where you want the news item to go into.
What I want is when someone comes to the "Edit" screen, they have a drop down list and what that does is allows you to select a category for you to edit news items from, so rather than at present having the "Edit" page display all the news items, I want people to be able to choose a category that they can edit news items in.
So far my edit page has a datagrid with the following code:
I'm trying to populate a datasource for a dropdownlist (which is actually in an insertitem template field within a detailsview on the same page) with a selectedvalue from a gridview. When I select a row in my Gridview 1, I get the "no value for a required parameter" message. ( and I have tried various alternatives... setting the selectedvalue of the grid to a variable... setting the selected value of the grid to a textbox nothing seems to work. It seems like this should be a pretty simple thing. I think I'm missing something obvious! Here is my code:
Field in Details view to be populated by the datasource:
I have an asp.net 2.0 web app and one of the pages uses a grid to add/edit items before exporting the contents to excel. The items in the grid are selected based on a dropdown list--after the item in the list is selected, the grid goes and gets the items, populates a dataset and binds the dataset to the gridview. Some of my users are experiencing an issue where after deleting a random number of rows, a row not deleted will disappear or reappear. Though I have witnessed the behavior, I cannot duplicate it on my machine where the developement occurs (Win XP Pro, IIS 5.1, vwd2005 express). The windows 2003 server uses ASP.Net 3.5
Here is the code related to editing and deleting:
If I had to make a guess as to what was occuring, I would say that it appears at times to retain the deleted item's index after the grid is sent back to the user and tries to delete another row. But like I said, I can't duplicate the problem on my dev machine. if this might be caused by .Net 3.5 trying to run a 2.0 site?
check the VB behind code for any syntax errors.Unable to add new rows of data to a database using the DataGrid control.Compilation Error message is located at http://cforedu.com:View snap shot images of each line error at http://cforedu.com/snap.pdfThe VB code behind reads (revision 1.3):
Obviously I am using the tableDnD() function to do that, but after I swapped them, I am saving the datagrid in a DataTable as it is (altered). However this doesn't happen. I need the changes to be posted back to the server. I tried to __doPostBack() after the onDrop function with no luck.
I'm trying to create a web page using Visual C#.NET 2010 on a 3.5 framework that allows users to select items through a series of dropboxes which are then saved to a temporary display grid. The problem I'm having is that I wish to allow users to save multiple combinations of selections which are saved to various rows of the display table.
Below is a sample of what I'm trying to do.
And here is the ASPX page:
The problem I'm having is whenever I try to edit the selected column all other columns are cleared. I need to have them remain while only the selected row is altered.
I am using 3 dropdown list in a gridview and the values for the dropdownlist is dynamic from database.based on first dropdown list selected value the values must fill to second dropdown and based on second dropdownlist selected value then items should load to 3rd dropdown and same for 4th dropdown list. Here if i select age, gender, sex, fist name, last name from the template name Human. The first drop down only populate the fields like Age,gender,Sex and so on., When the second dropdown list populate from the fields corresponding Template name Human, Finance, and so on.
I'm needing to get the selected rows, based on checkboxes, to insert into a different table than that that the gridview is formed from. I've created an innerjoin datasource to try and solve this but, still having problems finding something that works. I also need it to insert based upon a button click not inside the gridview as I believe otherwise would only hamper the situation more.
When someone selects one of the search criteria, I want the other dropdownlist boxes to re-populate with only the information from the current search and take out all other information if that makes sense. This search functionality works except it the dropdownlist boxes stay populated with all information originally loaded from the database. Here is my code:
I'm using a SP to fill the drop down list and when I look at the values in the drop down list the first row of the dataset is missing. Here's the code I'm using, I've left out the database connection info and the link to the SP
StaffListRS = cmdStaff.ExecuteReader() If StaffListRS.Read() Then ddlStaffList.Datasource = StaffListRS ddlStaffList.DataTextField = "StaffName" ddlStaffList.DataValueField = "NewStaffID" ddlStaffList.DataBind() ddlStaffList.Items.Insert(0, New ListItem("All", 0) If
I am trying to display a gridview with element names bound to a datatable (transformed from OracleReader) and also display two contact dropdowns inside the gridview. For each record in the datagrid i want to display these dropdown lists that will also be bound to two different datasources. How would I accomplish this?
the problem is that , i have two dropdown in a datagrid one dropdown contain diffrent type of tax name and other contain the tax rate releated to that tax and i also have one buttton i datagrid which work to insert another row for next tax type.now problem is that as sooon as the new row inserted the both dropdown takes the values but as soon as i changed the selected index of dropdown taxname then then all the taxrate dropdown values has been changed with respect to the new one taxname values.
