Forms Data Controls :: Show GridView After Text Box Parameters Entered?
Oct 6, 2010
I have done this with a DropDownList but not 2 text boxes that require date info.
With the DropDownList once a itme is selected from the list the GridView gathers the data in a SQL query and displays it in the same page
I want to have the same type of response when the user enters date data in two text boxes. It would be nice that when they exit the 2nd parameter box to show the grid.
Not sure how to do that in SelectParameters and convert the text data to a date.
I am going to use RequiredFieldValidtors but I am not sure what to do to make sure a valid date is entered.
I have a Datagrid control which is populated with data from an Access database when the page loads - a simple 'Select *' command. This page also contains a text box and a button, the idea being that the user can then filter the data by entering a value in the text box and clicking on the button to pass the new parameter to the datasource.
However, I cannot get this to work, I know it has something to do with 'IsPostback', but I am at a loss. I have tried variations of the following in the code behind page but to no avail.
The problem is this: I am writing a system to show helptexts on certain labels. So in the PageLoad I recursively iterate all controls and save those with a certain tag. So far so good.
On the PreRenderComplete I iterate the controls and set their text property. The strange this is that the labels in ItemTemplate don't get the new text. The PreRenderComplete fires after the DataBound event of the gridview, the label gets found perfectly, in the end it has the new text, but in the page it's still the old text.
I hope I don't need the Row_Databinding event of the gridview, since I want to put all the functionality in an extender class with as little custom work as possible.
i have a grid view and check box in it. and there are 5 columns in it. user name, first name, lastname city and ph no. and 5 text boxes... and a edit button NOW when i check any checkbox and press EDIT button i want the entries in grid view show be entered into text boxes.
I have a description field on my gridview that gets really lenghty, I want to be able to limit it to about 40 characters and then it they mouse over it show a popup or maybe tooltip with the rest of the data.
I want to be able to take data entered in a certain text box in a web form and use it in another web form for example: upon clicking a button I want to redirect to another web form and that a text present in the first web form box textbox will automatically appear in a text box on the second web form can someone get me started on how to do that?
In my aspx page, I have a formview and a gridview. I am using the insert template of the form to insert an application number and applicant name both of which the user will enter.
I have a insert stored procedure that checks if that same number exist, it won't enter one, if not it will. ID of that table is autoincrement.
If a new number entered, it should show in the gridview as in my query I am asking to show the max ID. The applicatin number in the grid is a hyperlink which allows the user to go to a details page.
My problem: Whenever I click the save button in the formview, the grid becomes visible with the last created number. It is ok if the system allow to enter a new record. But if the number is a duplicate and the system does not enter a new number, still the grid shows with the last created number.
How can I implement what I want to do.
The stored procedure is:
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[InsertNewChurchApp]nvarchar(6), @AddBy @Applicant nvarchar(80), @PK_ApplNo nvarchar(19),
i need to retrieve the value entered in the textbox of each row and its corresponding Billno in the cs page i use a button and i retrieve the data in the button click event method. i have used several options like "foreach (GridViewRow row in grdcstomers.Rows)" and storing the gridview values in an array list but i am unable to retrieve the cell values or the textbox values.
I have a form where users enter information in a multi-line text box. This could be anything, such as bullets, carriage return line feeds, etc. Think of anything that you might copy and paste into a multi-line text box from Word Pad, or Word. I then store this information into a SQL Server NText field. When I retreive this information, I need to display it as the user entered it into the text box field into a Literal or Label control (or something else if there is a better alternative) to display it. Problem is that when I display this text into the Text property of a Literal control everything is jumbled and all characters (bullets) are lost, no carriage returns, etc. One big mush of stuff. If I display this information in the Text property of Label control, I get the bullet characters, but no carriage returns
I dont know whether this simple task or not, but I tried to search in google but couldn't find anything.
I've a asp.net form and user enters some data in the text boxes provided. Whenever user submits the form, browser will save that form data. I don't want this form data to be saved in browser. How can I restrict the browser saving this form data without touching the browser settings?
Application is developed using asp.net and normal text boxes are used here.
I'm building a gridview on the fly in code behind:
[Code]....
I display the incrementing number in the header. I create a column to show the current Row Number, but I'm not sure how to display the header text (Incrementing number) in the corresponding footer. Is there a special trick for it if I'm creating columns on the fly?
I have a datalist control, inside which I have an Image button and a label. They are getting populated from db.Labels are corresponding to the Images.So,Image1 is of Tajmahal, the text of the label will be "Tajmahal" etc.
Now there are some items, for which no image is available and the default image which is coming for such items,is: "NoDataFound.gif".
I need to show the 'Name' of the corresponding item in the middle [horizontally and vertically] of those type of images["NoDataFound.gif"].
I have a gridview and I have an edit template for one control. I have a drop down box in this edit template so that you can select a value from it and then when you hit 'Update' the value from the drop down box is committed to the updated record. Unfortunately when I do hit the update button I get a fault that the "Status" field cannot be null.
Here is the code that picks the value from the drop down value and assigns it to the new values list:
In nested gridview, i am finding some problem, i want to show child Grid headers in Parent Gridview. Can anyone tell me that how it is possible? Its very urgent. Waiting for quick response.
Now to my question. I would like to check for username availability. For this I need to extract the text entered in the UserName textbox from the CreateUserWizard. I don't know how to do so. I need to cast somewhere but where?
Here's my code: (the bold word draws a cast error which I need to sort out)
I have added a gridview in my aspx web page. I have added a hyperlink field, to navigate to another page from the gridview. I am getting the error as:
"There was an error rendering the control.
Index(zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the size of the argument list. "
This is the code i have used:
[Code]....
[Code]....
When i remove the hyperlink, the grid is getting displayed. I know, there is something wrong i have coded in the DataNavigateURLformatstring, but not sure what is wrong.
I want to pass the StudentID,CourseID,ChildImageID with the link as the querystring.
I have a asp.net gridview control on my page with several fields and a couple of command fields. However, the update command is giving me problems.
Here is what works. The update command works provided I put straight text into the textboxes that appear. I even have one field that contains a dropdown list which works fine.
Here's the problem. I have two fields that need to access their value programmatically. These fields will reflect the current datetime and the current loggedin user from active directory. I have already created public strings in the C# code.
When I run the edit command on the asp form the grid uses one "DataKeyNames" element. With this the grid can update the selectedrow. However, I haven't been able to access it programmatically in the C# code. I can access the selectedrow in the "selectedindexchanged" event but then I am not able to update my fields in the gridview itself. So, part one of my question is how to I access the "DataKeyNames" properties of a gridview control.
if I can't access the "DataKeyName" property perhaps I could set the label nested within the gridview to the "myCurrentUser()" public string. I am inserting my code to hopefully make this clearer.
