May 7, 2015I am using  a  viewstate to store the company Ids and splitting at hyphen.

Company array is a string array  where i have stored the company ids
the problem is company_array[0] has the initial value of the dropdownlist(company) --select company which is why m getting the error(cannot convert data type nvarchar to int) . Â I have used the same logic in many places in my project it did not give any error.

I'm currently trying to add both ItemSizeSmall and ItemSizeMedium, but through trial and error I can still only add one row from the database. I want the dropdownlist to display "Small" and "Medium" etc.
I guess my primary question is: How do I create a database with product size attributes?
I apologize if this thread should be in another forum, but if the dropdownlist can display two database rows I'll settle with that solution.
Could the database look like this:
table1: product
PK: productID
table2: productAttribute
PK: productID
PK: attributeValueID
table3: attributeValue
PK: attributeValueID
FK1: attributeNameID

If this is right: How do I make the dropdownlist display the different sizes?

Feb 15, 2010I have a gridview displaying the items in the shoping cart. I want the customer to be able to change the size of the item he or she has chosen to buy. I have therefore added a dropdownlist inside the edititemtemplate. I would like to display all sizes that are available in the database in the dropdownlist, but don't know what the sql-statement would look like.
The database looks something like this:
Item
PK: ItemID
ItemAttribute
PK: ItemAttributeID
FK: ItemID
:AttributeName (Size, color etc)
AttributeValue
PK: AttributeValueID
FK: ItemAttributeID
:AttributeDescription (Small, Large etc)

The dropdownlist looks like this:

The problem is it's display all the other item's attributes and not what kind of attributes that is left, for example Medium, Large, X-Large. how to implement the sizes into a dropdownlist and the sql-statement looked like this:

The DropDownList Items Text and Value come from SqlDataSource3, "SELECT VoucherType, VoucherNumber FROM [Vouchers]"
I need to send the DDLs selected Text to [Applicants].[VoucherTypeIssued] and the Value to [Applicants]. VoucherNumber]
I already have a "dlVoucherTypeIssued_SelectedIndexChanged" event in the code behind to put "Voucher Issued" into [dbo].[Vouchers].[VoucherStatus]. I'm having trouble getting all three values written to the database at the same time.

Now when I edit the information(Data filled from table as stated above). How can i automatically fire all events like DropDownlist SelectedIndexChanged in the page_Load iteslef so that all the things that are supposed to be done when DropDownList.SelectedValue = "Yes". I'm posting my test code for reference to explain what I'm trying to do. This is just the Idea. I have something else to deal with if i can get this stright. Dec 23, 2013I am using a dropdown list in gridview and populating it from database.However ,i am getting "object reference not set to an instance ..." error even though i have reference.I have two more similar drop down list and they are working perfectly.

Question: is it possible just by selecting an item from DropDownList and then moving to another row within GridView save a selected value? I mean without using edit/update/cancel buttons but just by selecting an item from the DropDownList.

Feb 26, 2013Am having one gridview. In that there is some details and one hyperlink (for Mail) and one Label (Mail Status).
The Mail status label have default value Not Sent for all fields. If i click the Mail link and send mail to the corresponding person, then the Default label value will be automatically changed its text to Sent.
