I think I should be able to have the player hidden initially and display an animated gif in the modalpopupextender and then when the video files completes loading I'd hide the gif and show the player (or simply manipulate the corresponding z-indexes).

Jan 12, 2011I have an ASP .NET 2.0 (4.0 is an option) page that I've embedded the Windows Media Player to using OBJECT tags.
The player is connecting to a Windows Media Services publishing point on the Web server. This is on a 2008 server.

If I understand correctly, the information the player is showing in its status bar comes from the ID3 tags of the current track. Continuing on this line of thought, the ID3 information must be coming to the player from the media server. Correct?
What I want to do is collect and use the information about the track that's current being played. I'd like to be able to create a custom display for the current track information. I'd also like to put a custom value in the track information to look up additional information about the artist/track from a database.

Aug 5, 2010In Visual Studio 2008 I have a Class Library project (called Media) to which I added a Web Reference (not a Service Reference) to a third-party web service (wsdl). In the Class Library project a proxy class is created for using the service along with several classes for the types used in that service.
I also have a second Class Library (called Sync) that references the first one. And then I have a Web Site project that references the second class library. All of this is .NET 3.5
So Web Site > Class Library (Sync) > Class Library with web service reference (Media)
I want to step into the generated code, so I fire up the web site in IIS 7.5 and trigger the call to a method in the second class library (Sync) that in turn should call the web service proxy. I was fully expecting to hit the breakpoint, but instead got an exception:
Unable to generate a temporary class(result=1). error CS0029: Cannotimplicitly convert type Media.WebService.multiValuedAttribute to Media.WebService.multiValuedAttribute[]
Why is ASP.NET trying to generate a temporary class? Don't I already have the generated class from the first Class Library (Media)?

Nov 12, 2010guess it's straightforward. On page load, i wanna check the group of which a particular belong to. Say, someADNameeckham belongs to Account. In that case, I only wanna get "Account". But I have no idea how to get the group name of a particular user belong to. It's for LAN web portal so I guess security is not a very big concern here.

Jul 12, 2010Two users using the same machine, same browser.
User 1 logs in the domain.
User 1 changes some data without saving it.
User 2 logs in the domain in a separate tab.
User 1 switches back to his tab and saves the data.
User 1 actually saved the data into User 2!!
This is caused by the following mechanism:
Different tabs in the same browser seems to share the same session id. We are storing user auth in cookie and the cookie is shared between tabs (same domain)
Therefore, when User 1 request to save, it is recognized as User 2 since the cookie has been updated to User 2.
So I'm wondering if there's any other methods to prevent this from happening, other than:
1. Use cookieless session so the session is embedded in uri.
2. Always include a hidden field in page to indicate which user owns the page.

so to clarify, can i play a windows media player in a webpage without having it installed? because at the moment the follwing bit of code only plays my files asfter i installed windows media player on my PC.

Feb 15, 2010I have a .Net web service which is being relocated onto a Windows 7 machine running IIS 7.I have set up an application under the default web site and pointed it to the correct location, however when I try to execute a call to the web service, I get a message as follows:
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.ArgumentException: Registry SubKey softwareardexconnections.net not found.
In the past when I had this error, all that has been required to fix it is to set the permissions on that registry sub key to allow read access to the anonymous IIS user. I have given the Everyone group Full Control of this sub key in an attempt to get it working but I still get the same error.This is my first experience with Windows 7 and IIS 7 and it seems quite a bit has changed, so I'm probably missing something.

What I want to do is:
There is a folder called employeePDFs.
The folder will have 1000s employees' sub folder ({lastname}{firstname}{employeeID}). Each folder will have very personal indivual PDF files which are manually uploaded.
If an employee logs on, then the logon employee can view a page which has a list of PDF files in his own folder only.
Those PDF files can be assessed only by the user.

I have used a simple custom memberhip provider with one table.
On shared hosting with 123-reg.
