I have a dropdown list with the names of the months listed in it. These names are stored as int values but converted to string for display purpose. I also have a RadDatePicker control that will allow the user to select a specific date to overwrite the default date. The default date in the textbox needs to be set to the last day of the month selected (i.e. May 2010 would default to 05/31/2010).

I would like to alter the query that is run, depending on the selection made by the user in a drop down list on the same page. Would this best be done using a partial page update (AJAX)? Ideally it would be great to have the textbox result change quickly once the drop-down list value has changed, without a full page postback. I would like to change the SQL query to a completely different query if the user selects an option different to the default (page_load value) in the drop-down list. I would then like the newly retrieved result to be displayed in the textbox as before.

I'm designing my own custom control that contains a .NET dropdownlist. What I'm wondering is if it is possible to populate my dropdownlist with listitems placed in a placeholder? For example:

This doesn't work because the DropDownList control only allows ListItems as child controls. But, I want to do something similar to this so when the user includes my control on a page, they can do something like this:

View 10 Repliesi've run into small problem, here's the thing: i've got a dropdown list (ddlist1) that i am populating from a database, that works fine. However, depending on the option selected here, i need to populate another dropdown list (ddlist2). for example, if on ddlist1 i select option 1, on ddlist 2 i should get a list of options related to option 1 from ddlist1. If i select option 2, on ddlist 2 i should get a list of options related to option 2 from ddlist 1. and so forth. this information with which ddlist needs to be filled, comed from another database. o how can i go about this? m not sure yet how to code the second ddlist.

When i take away the <SelectParameters>

</SelectParameters>,and live ([UserId] = @UserId), i get the error : Must declare the scalar variable "@UserId".

Using a gridView to read some data from a SQL database. The user can select a record in the gridview. On the SelectedIndexChanged property I populate this to a couple of text boxes & drop down list; txtCountry,ddlProvince,ddlCity.

When I debug line by line the word ÃŽLE-DE-FRANCE comes out like ÎLE-DE-FRANCE which is not there in the drop down list. I need to populate a dropdown list with users who match certain role criteria. For example, if I have the following roles: Manager, Employee, Supervisor I would like to populate the list with only the Manager and Employee roles. Some individuals have multiple roles and they should be excluded if they also have the Supervisor role as illustrated below:

The final list should only contain names B & C.

I am first populating my checkbox list with a list of employee objects in the code-behind. An employee has an id and a name. Both are displayed in the checkbox list like so:
Jim (1)
Alex (2)
Gary (3)
When a user checks one of the boxes, the employee's name needs to be populated in the textbox. So if Jim is selected, the textbox value is "Jim". It also needs to support multiple values, so if Jim and Gary are selected, the textbox value is "Jim, Gary".
Also, if a user enters a valid value in the textbox, the correct employee should be checked. This needs to support names and id's. So if I enter "1,Alex" in the textbox and then click outside the textbox, Jim and Alex should be selected.
I'm using ASP.NET and I need to do this using AJAX, but I have no experience with using jQuery and AJAX. Could someone show me a simple example of how to do this?

In that tab container i have got three tab pannels. In the first tab pannel have got two drop down list boxes and one image control box. wat I was trying to do is that by using calendar extender control in ajax control toolkit i was trying to display a day in the first drop down list box and month and year in second drop down list box. when user click on image control during run time a small calender will pops up and then user will select the propective date according to there choice and when they have finish selecting the date from the calender a day will display on first drop down list box and month and year will display on second drop down list box.
I was keep trying to do that but i was failed. then i took one test box from the toolbox and i was got success in displaying the user selected date in the text box by using ajax calender extender. How to display that date instead of one textbox into two separate drop down list boxes from which a user can select manual date from drop down list as well and from the calendar as well also when the page loads, the two drop down list boxes must show current date ( by default)
I have a drop-down list that is wired up to a datasource from one table to retrieve a Vendor ID and Vendor Name. This ddl is outside a FormView that is wired up to a datasource containing Vendor contracts.
When I choose a Vendor from the ddl, I am able to populate a textbox outside of FormView with the Vendor ID from the ddl. However, what I need to do is populate a textbox within FormView with the Vendor ID. FormView is in Insert Mode by default since my page will be used for Adding Contracts only.
