I have a text box were people will submit a large amoyunt of text to a field in a database. The text is set out multi line in paragraphs with returns. When the text is saved to the database it saves it as a continuous line of text. how do i save and retrieve it with the returns included.

Currently we are saving files (PDF, DOC) into the database as BLOB fields. I would like to be able to retrieve the raw text of the file to be able to manipulate it for hit-highlighting and other functions.Does anyone know of a simple way to either parse out the files and save the raw text on save, either via SQL or .net code. I have found that Adobe has a filtdump utility that will convert the PDF to text. Filtdump seems to be a command line tool, and i don't see a way to use a file stream. And what would the extractor be for Office documents and other file types?-or-Is there a way to pull out the raw text from the SQL Full text index, without using 3rd party filters?Note i am trying to build a .net & MSSql solution without having to use a third party tool such as Lucene

I have implemented multilingual in my application. The text display is not proper for different language. For example in Spanish the label text is fully visible but if it will display in french then the text width is getting increased so it is not fully visible and for some other langauge it comes in second line, how to set the width and height according to langaue or is there any generic format to set?

When i went through, all the approaches are to extract images and text entirely from the PDF on not in a specified location. I tried with iTextSharp,Syncfussion,Apose but couldn figure out a better approach for this.

When I try to convey it in a label it doesn't refer to the linebreak. I've tried to convert the to an "<br/>" but for some reason it didn't

View 3 RepliesI have a text field that users enter information into a database (SQL Server). They are entering as little as a few sentances to multiple paragraphs. I can successfully display the data on my webpage, but the text field is not formatted very nicely. The output is all smashed together like one big paragraph. Ironically, when I also display the text as a tool tip it outputs as multiple paragraphs like it was entered. How can I format the output in the datalist to create a more readable text field? I have a website (asp.net,c#) on two different servers (same source code).
In one page my asp generates a text area, using the same browser when I access one of the site if I press return in the text areas I can start a new line, if I do the same accessing the other website on return the form is submitted!
I'm using jquery autocomplete to call a .aspx page which returns some matching words.
The jQuery stuff relies on a JSON feed to work. Currently, in my C# I'm formatting the output as a string, which ouputs something like this:
{ query:'aa','aardvark','aardvarks']}
I was hoping that because the string is formatted in the JSON format, that would be good enough for the Javascript to process but it appears not.

the problem is the items text in the combox box is having a square beneath at the second character which is hindering the visibility of the list. but the square is not appearing in the text area.

I have uploaded some tab-delimited .txt files on my web site (actually run on my computer, ie localhost, for now), and now I try to retrieve the data from those files. I do this by calling a vb file containg the sub below. Everything works great, except that the sub won't recognise unicode characters. I can split the resulting string using vbnewline and vbtab, but already in the sub in question, the string doesn't understand the Swedish letters åäö, apostrophes and more.

I have a Telerik:RadTextBox control in my markup called txtName. I'm trying to retrieve the inputed value in the code behind with foo = txtName.Text; but var and txtName always show an empty string.

I guess the code couldn't be easier. Basically what's happening is, when I click my 'save' button, there's a postback and the text in the RadTextBox just disappears.
update Found the problem. My web.config file had a different version of the Telerik dll file that was actually in my bin folder.
Give any sample links for input text will get as hh:mm format .for example if we open system date and time with in single text box we can edit hours and minutes .same like that i need examples in asp.net .

I need to retrieve text from form fields in the documents and then insert these into a SQL server. I'm completely new to this kind of thing.
