SQL Server :: Unable Connect To Server. Error 18465?
Feb 24, 2011
i just install the sql server 2008.today i try to open sql server management studio for create database, but once i open, a box say connect to server, when click connect, the error 18456 show.May i know what is the problem?my object explorer also doesn't show anything.my pc is windows 7.
I am unable to connect to my local instance of SQL Server 2008 Express using SQL Server Management Studio.I believe the problem is related to a change I made to the connection protocols. Before the error occurred, I had Shared Memory enabled and Named Pipes and TCP/IP disabled. I then enabled both Named Pipes and TCP/IP, and this is when I started experiencing the problem.
I have now set Named Pipes and TCP/IP back to disabled. When I try to connect to the server with SSMS (with either my SQL server sysadmin login or with windows authentication), I get the following error message:
"A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)"
My first question here is: why is it returning a Named Pipes error? Why isn't it using Shared Memory? It seems like it is not listening on Shared Memory for some reason? When I set Named Pipes to enabled and try to connect, I get the same error message. My windows account is does not have administrator priviliges on my computer.
I'm a bit of a beginner to ASP.NET and I'm having a trouble connecting to SQL Server Express.
I'm using Windows 7 and have tried connecting to my database using both Windows authentication and a user account I setup in SQL Server.
I've include the code I'm using below (using the account I setup in SQL Server):
The error I get is that it can't login using the login details provided
Just wondering if there's anything I'm not doing something properly? This is the first time I'm trying to connect to a database using Windows 7/SQL Server Express so hoping someone with a bit more experience can give me a hand!
I developed a website project using visual studio 2008 and language used is c#. It was working fine till yesterday[i.e., It compiled and also i could run it using the asp.net development server by pressing ctrl+f5] and today when i tried to run it says "unable to connect to asp.net development server". I tried to reinstall visual studion 2008 and even now its not working. Also when i go to websites n asp.net configuration option it say the same error "unable to connect to asp.net development server". I absolutely no idea about why this error popped up. I got my project demo. day after n how can this be set right.
I just started getting the error message "Unable to Connect to the ASP.net Development Server" when debugging a website with VWD 2008 (everything was fine in the past). My system is Windows Vista with Windows Live OneCare firewall. I have reviewed other postings related to this problem, and they indicate firewall setting problems - settings not allowing VWD internet access. However, my settings on the "Windows Live OneCare Firewall Advanced Settings" tab specifically allow VWD.
I am using an Visual studio 2010 ultimate edition. And here i have getting an error " unable to connect to the asp.net development server " while i try to run the Web Application by pressing F5 key from Web Application Project. Can any tell me whats the problem and how can i resolve it.
I had this one working a while back i try to upload file to my root folder it works locally but when i try it from my website i get the following error: exception details: system.bet .webexception. unable to connect to the remote server
the code bomb at the following line
requestStream = uploadRequest.GetRequestStream() 'This is where the exception occurs fileStream = File.Open(localFile, FileMode.Open) [code]....

3. The same as 2 but with IP <add name="DatabaseConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=922.214.171.124;Initial Catalog=testdatabase; User ID=test;Password= "***"; User Instance=False" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
I am using Sql Server 2008 to connect to a Remote Server. Everything was working fine for the last couple of months, and i was successfully connecting to the remote server. Today it suddenly stopped connecting to the remote server. note that i did not alter any configuration settings. Did my isp block Sql Server. My ISP is using ISA SERVER? The error details are:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) I am using Microsoft Firewall Client For ISA Server for opening ports. But today nothing is working.
I have just installed the .Net 4.0 in my system (window 7). Its working fine, now i need to install sql server management studio. Which version I have to use for this ? I have tried "Microsoft Sql serer 2008 Management studio express, but it gives an error of some compatibility issue with my windows of this version. So now i have installed "Microsoft Sql serer Management studio express 2005, it installed perfectly with no error. But while I am connection to my server, it is giving this error :
"This version of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express can only be used to connect to SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 servers. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.ConnectionDlg)"
I am using VS 2008 that worked fine using the standard ASP.net security with the Web Administration Tool and SQL Server 2005.
I had to install SQL Server 2008 which also meant I had to uninstall SQL Server 2005. Now when I try to use ASP.net security by pulling the Login box from the toolbox to my form and then go to configure this I get an error.
"Unable to connect to SQL Server database."
How do I change this to work with SQL Server 2008?
We are upgrading from an environment where the development web server, the SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server data are all on the same machine, a Windows XP Machine. We are upgrading to having the web server on one Windows 2008 server, the SQL Server on a 2nd Windows 2008 Server, and to Server to a Windows 2008 server, nd the data on a SAN.
I am working on a project where one of the requirements is to re-write an ASP.NET application. The old ASP.NET application was based on .NET Framework 1.1. The new ASP.NET application is based on .NET Framework 3.5.
One of the functions in the old web application was the ability to send email. The old code used the System.Web.Mail.SmtpMail class, whereas the new web application uses the System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient class.
In testing this on our development servers, everything worked fine. However, we have two beta clients testing out our software, and they both run into problems sending email in the new web application.
The specific exception is as follows:
"Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"
Both the old and new ASP.NET application are on the same server (Windows Server 2003). They both are using the same Exchange mail server. Why is it that the old ASP.NET application can successfully send email, but the new one cannot?
I looked at the old code, and it did not use any form of authentication, it just specified the sender's email address, the recipient's email address, the subject, body, and server, and sent the message. I did the same thing in the new code, with the only difference being that I used the SmtpClient class.
Below is a code snippet from the new ASP.NET application:
System.Net.Mail.MailMessage mail = new System.Net.Mail.MailMessage(); mail.To.Add(messageTo); mail.From = new MailAddress(messageFrom); mail.Subject = messageSubject; mail.Body = messageBody; SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient(); client.Host = smtpServer; client.Send(mail);
I just have installed SQLSERVER 2008R2 on Windows7..wen i am trying to configure REPORTING SERVICES, in the REPORTING SERVICES CONFIGURATION CONNECTION window, i gave SERVER NAME comp(Name of my computer), it is saying "Unable to connect to the report server comp" .
I am having some major headaches trying to get a Web Dev 2010 and SQL Server Express 2008 R2 to work together. At one point I hade Web Dev Express 2008 and SQL Express 2008 working together just fine, then I upgraded to 2008 Express R2 and have never been able to recover.
I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall several times, browsed the forums, watched videos, and while I have picked up a few things, I am still far from being able to get these two apps to work together for basic user authentication.
Here is where I am at. Web Dev Express 2010, .Net 4.0, and SQL Server Express 2008R2 installed. I have ran the .v4 aspnet_regsql.exe app against SQLEXPRESS, but when I bring up the Web Site Admin Tool, it cannot connect.
My machine.config connectin info is: [Code]....
Thinking that I may have some uninstalled connection info causing problems, I reviewed several of the security videos on this site, and decided to attempt to use my own database install rather then the default ASPNETDB.
So I now have 2 Database Engines (SQLEXPRESS and LOC). I created a new databases on LOC, named LOC and AspNetServicesDB. I then created users named LOCADMIN and AspNetServicesUser, made then the owners, and set the default database for eacg.Next I ran aspnet_regsql.exe from the v4.0.30319 folder, connected successfully, and installed the tables under AspNetServicesDB. The new tables (roles, membership, profiles) were installed. I then proceeded to copy the above machine.config connection info to the web.config file, and modified it as Joe Stagner did in this video. My edited web.config info:
Note that password is set to the real password in my config file.
Yet when I bring up the Web Site Administration Tool test the single provider, I get this error:
