Security :: Error HTTP 404 - LogOutPageUrl From The Login / Logout Control
Oct 8, 2010
I receive this error when running the application. It is the LogOutPageUrl from the login/logout control. I have substituted several different destination pages, which all work in any other part of the application. However still get this error? what may be causing this, or why none of the other pages I have used will work either? Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

I got a problem with my login and logout for my asp.net website, whenever i try to login or logout, it will load the page i direct it to first then i have to reload the page again for the login or logout to work. First my login i am using a login control to do it and also using this code to go to another page:
protected void Login1_LoggedIn(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Server.Transfer("LogonPage.aspx");
}
Next is my logout i am just using a button for the logout along with this codes:
protected void btnLogout_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Response.Clear();
FormsAuthentication.SignOut();
Server.Transfer("Login.aspx");
}
i really want it to login and logout at my first click.

i currently develop an asp.net mvc 2 web app using asp.net membership and role management for authenticating and authorizing my users. I get complaints though that when adding a role to some user, he is not able to see new role assigned functionality, unless he re-enters (logout and login again) the application.

I am wondering how I can implement so that later login session logout former login session to avoid concurrent login. I know how to check whether the user is online (by Membership.IsOnline()) and logout the current user (by FormsAuthentication.SignOut()). But I don't know how to logout the previous login session.

I am doing a simple secured site using the login control. I would like users to be redirected to their dashboard page once they log in, but after that if they choose to browse I do NOT want them redirected based on their login status. I am using the generic template provided in VWD with the basic login setup in the template including the tabbed ASP menu control - nothing fancy, nothing custom. This is intended to be something very simple and quick. Here is the code I am using for the page load...
[Code]....
So if I do this code WITHOUT the "IsPostBack", logged in users are always redirected to their dashboard and cannot see the hompage. However with that IsPostBack test, the redirect after initial login doesn't work.
I know this is extremely basic and simple, but I am restarting with this stuff after a year away, and I need a nudge.

This is really weird I am really stuck on this issue. Now the Environment is WIN2K3 Server is my web server Database is SQL 2008 is in the domain itself I have deployed the application which was using the SSO from the parent Share Point Site and was having forms authentication Now the Users to access the application can be outside domain /inside domain so we have logic to get the internal employee or external But the Problem starts when we have got the request to have the application ready for Internal Users like a Intranet application and we need to have the windows authetication in place Now the problem was with WINDOWS authentication I am not able to get to the HTTP Handlers I have in my code thats really wierd as all was working well having the forms auth. I have changed the following things to make it windows auth. Changed the AUthentication in WEB.Config Unchecked the Anynomous user from Directory Security in IIS.
My Problem is ALL application works well except when I tried to call http_handler It is giving me 404 0 2 in IIS logs page not found when I tried to say window.location = "myhandler.myextension?id=285dc559-8293-44f3-a018-4e7024c82e5b" Gives me Page not found error.
