Security :: Error HTTP 404 - LogOutPageUrl From The Login / Logout Control
Oct 8, 2010
I receive this error when running the application. It is the LogOutPageUrl from the login/logout control. I have substituted several different destination pages, which all work in any other part of the application. However still get this error? what may be causing this, or why none of the other pages I have used will work either? Description: HTTP 404. Need the code for the login /logout in my sample project and how to attin logout in the all pages. dont mistake me as i am learning (fresher) the asp.net 2005
I got a problem with my login and logout for my asp.net website, whenever i try to login or logout, it will load the page i direct it to first then i have to reload the page again for the login or logout to work. First my login i am using a login control to do it and also using this code to go to another page:
I am Creating a Webapplication. In that i kept Login options where users can login. Some users access the data without login. I want when user want to access without login it should redirect to login page.
I created one project in vs2010 with ASP.NET Web Application.It provides login / logout link in uppper right conner.How can I detect wheter user clicking is login or lgout.If the event is login, I want to write some values in a session.If the event is logout, I want to delete all cookies. I tried to find event in Site.Master.aspx. However, I couldn't find it.
I have an option in my website to logout from session and redirect to login page. So I get redirected and if I try to login again it seems like it tries to redirect me to login page over and over, until I click some page in menu and login and it does works. so, doesn't the login control always redirect to same DestinationPageUrl? here the logout code:
When user logout, we redirect him to the login page. I show a message "You have successfully logged out." on login page using query string. But when user refresh the login page the message still appears. How can I make sure during subsequent refresh, the login page should not show logout message. Here is the code:
Session.RemoveAll(); Session.Abandon(); Response.ClearHeaders(); if (Session["name"] == null) { Response.Redirect("login.aspx"); }
I have used this line for logout code , after getting logout i i tried pasting the URL in another tab it is showing
Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Source Error:
Line 31: { Line 32: con.Open(); Line 33: Label1.Text = Session["name"].ToString(); Line 34: string a = ("select name from user2 where name='" + Label1.Text + "'");
I don't want to show this error message, i want to reload the login page when Pasting URL or Back Button ..how can i do this?
i currently develop an asp.net mvc 2 web app using asp.net membership and role management for authenticating and authorizing my users. I get complaints though that when adding a role to some user, he is not able to see new role assigned functionality, unless he re-enters (logout and login again) the application.
I have written custom code for login and logout...When use clicks on logout button the current session is closed and user is redirected to a login.aspx page...The problem is that when a user click a back button on internet explorer it the previous page he was navigating is shown to him...(altough he cant perform any operation as session is null and their is condition in page load that if session is null user should be redirected to login page)May i have to clear cache of client ??
Im using Visual Studio 2010. I'm new to asp.net. I'm trying to do a simple user login page but whenever I try to launch the Web Administration tool, I keep getting some exception error. The below images is the error I encountered.
I wanted to know how to add the feature- that user should be redirected to an error page where the error will be display, upon entery wrong username/password when trying to login through an asp.net login control?
1. how to redirect the user to an error page upon entering wrong username/password (from a login control which is placed on master page)?
2. how to pass the error to the error page so it can be displayed there?
I am wondering how I can implement so that later login session logout former login session to avoid concurrent login. I know how to check whether the user is online (by Membership.IsOnline()) and logout the current user (by FormsAuthentication.SignOut()). But I don't know how to logout the previous login session.
I am trying to redirect into login.aspx with authentication mode written in Web.config as given below.But
the page redirect as [URL] with "

I am doing a simple secured site using the login control. I would like users to be redirected to their dashboard page once they log in, but after that if they choose to browse I do NOT want them redirected based on their login status. I am using the generic template provided in VWD with the basic login setup in the template including the tabbed ASP menu control - nothing fancy, nothing custom. This is intended to be something very simple and quick. Here is the code I am using for the page load...
[Code]....
So if I do this code WITHOUT the "IsPostBack", logged in users are always redirected to their dashboard and cannot see the hompage. However with that IsPostBack test, the redirect after initial login doesn't work.
I know this is extremely basic and simple, but I am restarting with this stuff after a year away, and I need a nudge.
This is really weird I am really stuck on this issue. Now the Environment is WIN2K3 Server is my web server Database is SQL 2008 is in the domain itself I have deployed the application which was using the SSO from the parent Share Point Site and was having forms authentication Now the Users to access the application can be outside domain /inside domain so we have logic to get the internal employee or external But the Problem starts when we have got the request to have the application ready for Internal Users like a Intranet application and we need to have the windows authetication in place Now the problem was with WINDOWS authentication I am not able to get to the HTTP Handlers I have in my code thats really wierd as all was working well having the forms auth. I have changed the following things to make it windows auth. Changed the AUthentication in WEB.Config Unchecked the Anynomous user from Directory Security in IIS.
My Problem is ALL application works well except when I tried to call http_handler It is giving me 404 0 2 in IIS logs page not found when I tried to say window.location = "myhandler.myextension?id=285dc559-8293-44f3-a018-4e7024c82e5b" Gives me Page not found error.
