Security :: Login Control Slow To Authenticate Against AD On First Request?

Jul 21, 2010

I have a web application that authenticates against AD. On the first login attemt it takes roughly 30 seconds to login. On subsequent requests the login occurs almost immediatly. I've searched all over google and this forums and noticed several people with the problem and everyone seems to have a different solution of which none work for me.

Security :: Login / Authenticate With The Use Of MS Acces As Database?

Jul 28, 2010

question about how to use MS Access as the aspnetdb.mdb during a login and authentication with the use of VS 2010 with framework 3.5. Reason: My current provider does not support MS SQL and only ms Access and MySQL as databases.I wanted to implement a login and authentication and based upon an artikel about ASP.net 2.0 i saw, that basically Access was the first choice in those days.Is it still possible to use Access? and how to implement this?Is this a matter of using connectionstrings inside web.config with Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 ?Hope that i get an answer which i understand, since my knowledge about these things is not that big.

SQL Server :: Create A Login Page That Will Use This Database And Table To Authenticate The Login?

Sep 24, 2010

I dont know where to start, but I have a simple issue that you may be able to resolve.

I have a SQL database that contains a table with user name / password / Account level in it.

What I am trying to do is to create a Login page that will use this database and table to authenticate the login.

I have spent some time looking about for an example, and the nearest that I have found is for an access Database, but I really need this to work with SQL.

Security :: Secured Site Using The Login Control / Do Not Want Them Redirected Based On Their Login Status?

Mar 24, 2011

I am doing a simple secured site using the login control. I would like users to be redirected to their dashboard page once they log in, but after that if they choose to browse I do NOT want them redirected based on their login status. I am using the generic template provided in VWD with the basic login setup in the template including the tabbed ASP menu control - nothing fancy, nothing custom. This is intended to be something very simple and quick. Here is the code I am using for the page load...

[Code]....

So if I do this code WITHOUT the "IsPostBack", logged in users are always redirected to their dashboard and cannot see the hompage. However with that IsPostBack test, the redirect after initial login doesn't work.

I know this is extremely basic and simple, but I am restarting with this stuff after a year away, and I need a nudge.

Ajax Request Times Out (or Is Really Slow)

Nov 15, 2010

My basic structure is that I have a table on a page, which I want to reload without refreshing the entire page. So on clicking a button on the page it fires of this:

function RefreshMissionsAjax() {
//fade out the old table.
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).fadeOut(500);
//request the new value from the page (calls the GetIncompleteMissions() method in the MissionViewer.aspx.cs page)
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "MissionViewer.aspx/GetIncompleteMissions",
data: "{}",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: function (msg) {
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).html(msg.d);
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).fadeIn(500);
},
error: function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError) {
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).html('An error occured while trying to refresh the page data.');
$(clientID('MissionsDisplay')).fadeIn(500);
}
});
}
And I have in the code bedind of an aspx page:
[WebMethod]
public static string GetIncompleteMissions()
{
return GetHTMLTable();
}

This method just grabs some data, and creates a html table - nothing too fancy. When the returned table is small (a dozen rows or less) then it works like a charm. But when it gets larger, it takes a long long time. At 100 rows it can take 5 minutes to render the table. At 1000 rows I have left it for 30 minutes and nothing will happen after the fadeout. (NB - it loads fairly quickly on the pageload, before the ajax refresh is used, so it is not the actual server side creation of the table thats the problem).

This is my first real attempt at doing something like this, so I dont know if this is the best way to do it - it was just something i pieced together that worked great when i was testing with small datasets. Now, not so much.

How To Authenticate An HTTP Request To Remote Server That Can Be Utilize On End User Browser

Jul 26, 2010

There is one page which is actually a streaming to The Axis IP camera which spits MJPEG output.It requires user to log in with the user name/password promp on browser .I am using this stream to show video directly on a web page.It shows video correctly but asks user to provide correct user name and password set for the camera,I tried to logging in to this camera on server side using HTTP requests and then I realized I authenticated server request not the browser the end user is using.

So what I want is a method server side or client side, that can allow me to log-in to camera automatically when my end-users visit this page.I am using asp.net with c# 2005

WCF / ASMX :: Consuming A XML Web Service Slow On First Request?

Jun 13, 2010

for the past couple of days i am facing an issue where the first call from my ASP.NET 4 application (VS 2010 Web Site) hosted in IIS 7 to an XML web service is dead-slow. subsequent calls are fast until the AppDomain is restarted.

I have tried all solutions related to pre-generating the serializer assembly but nothing worked. Anyway THEN I was sure it is an IIS-only issue because if i consume the xml web service from a console .net application then all the calls are fast. its even fast from an ASP.NET web site NOT hosted in IIS instead running on the development server. SO clearly the problem is there only when my app is hosted in IIS.

MVC: First Access After Some Minutes Slow, Then Every Following Request Is Fast?

Jul 30, 2010

when I access any page of my ASP.NET MVC website first time, then this first request is slow. It needs about 4-5 seconds to load. But every following request to any page is fast.When I wait some minutes or a hour then every first request is slow again. Every following request is fast.

I think that IIS 7 is compiling the code and keep it in memory. After some time it will delete it from memory so it needs to compile it again.What can I do that every first request is as fast as every following request?
(Without precompiling my source, if possible)
