Web Forms :: Letting Admin To Edit Contents Nontechnically?

Jul 26, 2010

I've built a web app to practice what I'd learnt about asp.net and css. The problem I've come across is that if I were to sell it to a customer how would I be supposed to allow the customer (admin) to edit contents e.g., posting new blogs, uploading photos? look I'm not going to build in a visible 'sign in | sign up' on the header for example, because the website is a personal one and just customer (admin) is supposed to edit it. To be straight I need to know what actions I must take to do to let one SINGLE customer edit his web without dealing with technical codes (knowing what a content place holder is and etc.)

Security :: Specify Location Of Aspnetdb With Login Control Db Admin?

Feb 25, 2010

my current vs2005, when setting up the login control, and using the built in admin the db function right on the

login control, creates the aspnetdb db in the folder, app_data, directly under the vs project folder. I want to get the db

in a folder of my choice under wwwroot in my inetpub. can this be done? otherwise it seems i have to copy the vs version

using my server mgt sql express. i've seen how to respecify the roles and membership functionality from the 4guys article

[URL], which i'm ready to do when the db is moved.

also isn't something like this necessary anyway when moving a vs project to some actual web app server?

Security :: Admin Node Doesn't Show On Live Site With Proper Login - VS Express 2008?

Jan 8, 2010

This is my third site that I use role management, but the first time this happens. I have two roles: Member and Admin. If Admin user login, Admin node on sitemap shows. It works very well on my local machine in Visual Studio Express 2008 and in Visual Studio Team 2008. But once I deploy files to live site, even admin login, the Admin node doesn't show. I have a Member management page from which I may see member's role, and I can see that user name is in the role Admin. What could be wrong?

I used ASP.Net Configuration manager to create roles, users, and access roles. Here is the code:

in general site.config

<siteMap enabled="true " defaultProvider="XmlSiteMapProvider">
<providers>
<add name="XmlSiteMapProvider" description="Default SiteMap provider." type="System.Web.XmlSiteMapProvider"
siteMapFile="Web.sitemap" securityTrimmingEnabled="true"/>

Security :: Best Way To Access A Admin Area Of A Website From The Main Page?

Dec 3, 2010

I have a simple online store where there are products that can be put into a cart and purchased. There is a admin page that can be logged into so that new products can be added or existing products can be removed or edited. To get to the admin area I need to put a /admin/index after the main page loads up. If I want to give my friends (from any location) the ability to add new products should I create a link to the admin area on the main page (like at the bottom) of the main page or should I just tell them to type in /admin/index after they go to the webpage?

Security :: Make Readonly Profile Property Writable On Admin Page?

Jan 26, 2010

Is it possible to allow an administrator to write to a readonly profile property by redefining the profile property in a web.config file used for administrators pages?

I have a unique account number which must be assigned to each new user (using the default asp.net membership provider). After reading a couple of articles it seemed it would just be easier to define it as a profile property instead of creating a custom membership provider. When the user makes changes to their profile on a profile page I create, I want the value to be readonly. When an admin views the profile I actually want them to assign the value to the property in their page.
