State Management :: How To Pass Query String From One Application To Another Application
Nov 1, 2010
How to pass query string from one application to another application, i need to send values through one page of application to another application,I am using inprocess session state.
from loging page i need to send sessions to another applicaion but here sending sessions are some what diffcult (after googling).so is it possible through query strings???if yes How pass them please tell me the sample example.will it be possible through coockies?? or query strings. How
I need to keep a global variable throughout the whole time the user is at my site, but do I use Application or a static class? The string variable should store a region name and my site makes a few changes depending on which region that has been set.
I read that Application was mainly for classic ASP, but I also read that a static class cannot be instantiated at runtime (e.g. when the user has logged in).
So, have I got something wrong here and which solution do I use?
we are experiencing big difficulties in the configuration of ASP.Net state service and II7. The service seems not working correctly because when the application pools recycles the applicatio loose the session. If we try the same configuration in IIS6 it works correcly. What is the correct way to configure the aspnet session state service in iis7?
I Want To Use A Session Variable From One Application to Another Application. Is That Possible in ASP.NET 3.5 Or Greater To Use Session Variables As i Required. My Both Applications Host In Same IIS Server.
Example scenario: User login has a list of associated 'accounts' it has access to... this list of accounts is stored in a database table, say tblAccountAccessControl, something like:
This info is used throughout the web application and determines the 'domain' of information the particular login has access to. For example there are many other tables that have the 'accountID' field and whenever a page pulls data from the table it only pulls data that the currently logged in user should be allowed to see, based on that tblAccountAccessControl data.
The security question: Do I need to query the database every time I need to get this list of allowed accountID's? I was about to use a plain old query string to pass a particular accountID to another page but quickly caught myself as I realized that would be a major security flaw (the receiving page was going to use that accountID to grab info from the database, and there would be nothing preventing a user from simply typing in a url manually to get data from an accountID they are not supposed to be allowed to view). So I then thought I'll just store the list of accountID's in a session state variable so they will be carried with the user throughout the session.
But then I remembered there are tools out there that allow you to easily intercept and modify asp.net viewstate information and I'm not sure if that would included session state variables, but I'm guessing they would. Is there a way to create a secure query string? If I used session state would that session state information be exposed and modifyable by utilities out there? Am I just stuck having to query the database every time I need this info to assure security? What about encrypting it and then storing in session state variable (just thought of that one)?
All we have a global ships position tracking website which runs smoothly until IIS application pool recycles. When there is workerprocess recycling looks like session state expires as a result i loose all session data and when customer clicks refresh button he is redirected to login page.
In web.config Session state mode is set to InProc so i changed it to State Server but to my luck i have MAP object which is not serialiazable which is causing the maps from not appearing on the website.I tried adding serializable attribute to the object class but still not succesfull. Our website is accessed by our customers whose count is more than 1000.
Changing the session state mode from InProc to StateServer can really slow down the response time so Is it good to go further fix the serailizable issues and move to state server?.
Is there any way I can retain my session data when application pool recyles?..
Stopping Application pool from recycling may not be a good idea considering health factor of web server.
I am getting this error while executing my Asp.Net application.i am not able to execute application using Visual Studio Interface and when i am trying to execute application from Local IIS. its executing well but when i am trying to click any button for searching etc it is giving this error. The state information is invalid for this page and might be corrupted. The detailed information is

I am very new to asp.net. I developed one application. In that I have two pages. First page contains Application.Get() in page load event, here I read this Application variable, initially it returns NULL. If it is NULL, I make some buttons invisible. Then I jump to second page, in that page contains Application.Set(). Again I jump from second page to first page, this time Application.Get() is not NULL, I make some buttons visible. This is ok, if I execute the program in .net software.
But, when I publish this same program to web server like IIS, it is not working properly. After publishing very first time the first page returns NULL after that it doesnt return NULL even I closed the browser. I dont know why. In program, I used 2.0 framework. IIS also has 2.0 framework. Please clear this issue.
global.asax:-I have defined a struct (my_struct)-I add a List of structs (List<my_struct>) to Application["MyList"] In default.aspx:-I have defined the exact struct (my_struct) and want to cast the Application["MyList"] object to the List of structs.
example: x = (List<my_struct>)Application["MyList"];
I receive this error "Unable to cast object of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List`1ASP.global_asax+my_struct]' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[_Default+my_struct]'
I have a query string which contains the value of more than one Array, I want to pass these values from Page 1 to Page 2 and then distribute the array values into new arrays on Page 2.
Here is what I have so far.

Now regaring maintain state of treeview across my web application...
Requirements: Create a Web Page in ASPx that will do the following:
1)One label will provide a count of how many times Button 1 has been clicked in the current session.
2)One label will provide a count of how many times Button 1 has been clicked by all users of the application. The Application Code for the Button should start at 100 (set this in the Global.asax file). this is what i have so far but i cant seem to get the application state to work properly.

I have two web applications and sometimes I need user to jump from one application to another. Since they are two web applications( websites) in the same machine, I can not share session between them.
The technical challenge for me is how to pass session information (I only need to pass userID string information in the session) from one source application to another destination application -- so that the user feels Single Sign On and personal information is displayed for him/her in both application (as the userID is passed to the destination application, no re-login is needed).
Another challenge is that when the user jumps to another URL in another application -- I just need to generate the common unified [URL]
I want to replace a bin dll in the running live website. But at the same time i also want that the current users using the application does not effect with this, may be runtime errors or session time outs.
I have a application where login details are in 1 database and user details are in another database.Different cities have different database with common login database. As soon as user logs in i save the connection string name of its associated city database in a Session to access through out the application. Was wondering if this is the best possible way to do this? Will this cause a problem in Web Farms? Please let me know what is the best possible way to save a value which can be accessed through out the website and till what time is the value valid or expires?
i have 2 web application that resides in 1 IIS7 application via Virtual Directory, i hope to connect the 2 website via Session, my question is can i pass a session value from website 1 to website 2?
Ive got an ASP.net web application and was testing the pages. At the moment I store a variable in the
System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session[
say the user is authenticated when they have been verified on login. So if the login is successful the authenticated is set to true. This is checked on every page load to make sure they have logged in.What I did was to log in and then the Main Menu page is displayed.I copied the address of this, set the page to goggle's page then pasted the address back into the address bar and the page loaded back up.How can I stop this from happening?Should have some mechanisim to prevent this?If so how.
I have 2 different applications hosted on an IIS server. I have created a new application pool. Can i run both the applications on the same pool??Will sessions or other values of one application be available to the other application if I do it this way?
