i have a .JPG file in my local machine which has to be sent as body of SMTP mail.Path of image D://foldername//imagename.jpg The code I run is in the server mc. I want it to access my local machine's d: folder to get the image file. But it is accessing the server mc's d: folder. How can this be done?

Due to nature of my application (Its a KIOSK application), user is not expected to select file. I am just wondering how should I implement reading file without using file upload control. I want to store this file in Images folder of server. I am beginner to WCF. Should I look towards WCF?
View 7 RepliesI am attempting to write an asp.net application that copies any file from the user's local machine to another server on the same network.
The Catch
The server that will house the application is separate from the server that will receive the files from the local user's machine. In other words, to do the file copy the user will have to access the application on one server via IIS and within the application it must place that file on another server. Further, these servers while on the same network cannot physically see each other.
In addition, the users of the application are connected Anonymously (Anonymous Authentication)
1. ASP.Net WEB server.
2. I have PC, on which file to copy to device is located, with Active Sync installed and IE running which has a page in that IE has rendered by server #1.
3. I have a DEVICE connected to desktop #2 via AS.
I would like to copy file from a local machine to the device which is connected to this machine. My application is located in a webserver.
I have created a CSV file on the server and want to send it to the user using the following code:

I have had a real nightmare with Server.MapPath(). When I call Server.MapPath("~") in my application that is running in ASP.NET Development Server it returns root directory that ends in a back slash like f:projectsapp1, but I call it in published version, installed in IIS, it returns root directory without any back slash like c:inetpubwwwrootapp1.

In our application, we allow user to upload documents which can be PDF, Doc, XLS, TXT. Uploaded documents will be saved on web server. We need to display link for each document user uploaded and when user click on that link, it should open relevant document. it is expected to have required software to open relevant documents.
To upload document, we use saveAs method of FileUpload control and it works absolutely fine.Now, how to view it?I believe, i need to copy/download file to local user machine and need to open it using Process.Start.For that i need to find user local temp directory. if i put path.GetTempPath(), it gives me web server directory and copy file there.

but when the projects runs the image file url gets the image url adrress : [URl] I must access the image files which are another server machine on my local network area and I must get the ImageUrl properties from another server machine

View 1 RepliesWith the project I'm working right now, the team and I don't believe the network/computer policies will allow us to create and save Excel files on a local machine through the Web pages we're building. Well, let me clarify. When we run our web pages on our development machines, when we go to save information to excel through the web page, it uses our local excel executable. However, we want it to use the web server's excel executable. When we run the website, we're running individual local copies because we don't have a web server to test on, so we can't verify if it will use the Web Server's or ours. Does anyone know what it will do, or if it has to be programmatically set a specific way to use excel on the web server, and not on the local machine. Once we get the Web Server to use excel, we'd save the file to a network share that would allow the user to view the file.

In the web page i want to give a link(may be hyperlink or linkbutton). On clicking the link it should access the log file in the particular machine and it should give a popup with open and save option as given in the normal web applications. I compiled and published the application, but all I get is a page with a big rectangle and a little icon in the upper left corner, with no error messages. This is the same behavior I get in my own application when I give it a strong name key. (Without the strong name key, it runs properly, but gets the exception above.)

This button click generate an error on server side. I guess the problem Editor.Content have hidden tags, the server refuse to accept, but what is real problem.
On one of my pages I display a datetime (from a database) and it is formatted correctly as a UK date time (dd-mm-yyyy) on my local machine. However when I deploy it to a server it reverts to American format (mm-dd-yyyy). Does anyone have any idea of when this might be happening?This might be outside the scope of stackoverflow
View 3 RepliesWe've deployed some reports from a server machine which can be accessed without any problems if you are logged onto the server itself by going to the URL of http://servername/ReportServer. However if we try and access the reports from a client machine (even if we use the same administrator Windows account) we get the Windows security window appear asking for a Username and Password to be entered in order to connect to the server. We've tried entering this but we then just get a blank screen after being re prompted a few times to enter the details.
Now I'm not sure whether this will be a Reporting Services or a Windows issue. Could it be a setting within IIS? It can't really be a user thing as the same user works on the server but not on the Client machine so it's more of a machine problem. It's as if there are some authentication settings somewhere that need to be set.
We are using SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.
