CHECKBOX on the user control page each time the user check the CHECKBOX the user control content totally disappears from the EDIT.ASPX page. There is no error message -- I believe this is a post back error but I don't know how to fix it.
Goal: Each time the checkbox called (CHKBSideBar) is clicked on the user control page all of the page content should stay in place that include
EDIT.ASPX Page and the refeneced USER CONTROL. I should be implement a CheckedChanged Function without either of the pages lossing DATA. I need to be able to access post back event from the user control of the Edit.aspx page. When the user click a box on the user control page how do I keep the same Page_Load event on the edit page. I need to reference the Edit page from the user control.
Note: The edit page loads the user control (SiteTemplate2.ascx)SEE CODES BELOW
I know this is a lot and thank you in advanced for your help. I tried to include all the pages that are key players. I must user the user control bacuase the user can select different template so eliminating the user control is not an option.

Mar 8, 2010If the answer to this question exists somewhere, I'm no good at searching for it. This is sort of a simple question, the response being two parts: (1) is it possible? (2) if so, how?
I've created a web user control for my site's footer. In my web.config I have it registered like this:

Then, within the pages on my site, I simply insert it like this:
[Code]....
But obviously, that didn't work. I get this error: The type or namespace name 'FooterControl' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
So I'm really not sure what to do at this point. I can put all of my code in the ASPX file and make my life easier, but I would kind of prefer not to.
C# - Access Properties Set For The User Control BEFORE The Template Container Is Instantiated

This is control is placed in a repeater which lists some customers. The customer is than bound to the user control. When the name template is instantiated in the container, the customer object is not yet available, but I need to access its name because it needs to get parsed before.

Feb 13, 2010I am trying to access the current 'active' top level node from a sitemap repeater from outside of the ASP.NET repeater used to render it, this is for CSS styling purposes as I want to place the child nodes on the subsequent row with different styling horizontally. At present I have the following code which I can't get to display correctly using CSS.

I would like to display the child nodes on the next light blue element which I can do perfectly well from a seperate div if this was not rendered using a child repeater. In the image below Blog and Services are top level nodes and their subseqent nodes (2 for each) should be displayed on the light-blue row below. Is this possible?

However, using the following syntax:

Does not work and generate errors.

Nov 3, 2010If for example my userControl has a CheckBox called IsGreatCoder and the userControl is embedded in a main page (parent page).
I normally have gained access to the IsGreatCoder.Checked value in the main-page by exposing it through a public property that I have to manually write (say "IsAGreatCoder").
If UserControl is included in the main page as "userControl1", then I would access it as "userControl1.IsAGreatCoder".
But, I was wondering if there was anyway to declare the UserControl such that all the UI controls added to it were declared as being public, that way allowing me to gain access to the actual controls in the main page (the parent).
Essentially I would like to be able do something like userControl1.IsGreatCoder.Checked instead of having to implement a property.
The reason I want to do this is that I want to have access to many more of the check-box's properties and it would be a pain to implement each one as a public property.

Sep 9, 2010I have looked everywhere for how to do this and all I come up with is threads describing how to expose public properties. I have a USER CONTROL in my Master page. It is a search box with a text box and a dropdown for search type (last name, account number, etc) and a search button. When the user clicks the search button, I open a new page that displays the results. How do I pass the values from the USER CONTROL search fields to the new page? I would post code, but I have nothing to post yet since I don't know where to start. I have tried exposing the public property of the user control, but I don't know how to retrieve those values on the results page.

May 13, 2010I have a 2 part question for web user controls: 1. I want to have an event fire in my user control, but have it be consumed by the parent page, like:
<asp1:Object id="objectMain" runat="server" OnClick="Click" />
Is it possible to do this? Or do I need to make a server control for this functionality? I have it being able to be set in the Page_Init, but I'd like to make it as similar to actual controls as possible. Also, if it is possible to access via the Events section under Properties, that would be good and 2. I am trying to register the web user control as an AsyncPostbackTrigger for another UpdatePanel. With the previous question in mind, is it also possible to set this via the GUI, or does this need to be set programmatically as well?

Jan 15, 2010I am currently working on a page that displays a set of questions as retrieved from an XML source. I can print the questions out fine by using a ListView and the ItemDataBound event. On PostBack it seems I can get some property values (Text), but not others (ID). I need to get the ID so I can match up the answer to the appropriate question.

I just don't understand the Life Cycle stuff that well for advanced issues like this. I'd prefer not to use the Request.Form collection for this, but I will if it's the last resort.

What I want to do is populate the data components based on the parent's page title where the user control is called.
The parent page title is the most logical unique name to each page and so that would be the name that I want to import
as the default value for the data components select parameter. Each page name is stored in my sql data table [Towns] as TownsName.
The general idea is that the control will populate with the towns data based on the page title of the parent page.

Dec 20, 2010There is one user control say uControl.ascx. This has a public property Message. There are 2 aspx pages Default.aspx and Home.aspx which has the user control uControl.ascx. When a sumit button from Default.aspx is clicked some action takes place and the value for Message is set and then execution is redirected to Home.aspx. In Home.aspx the value for Message is lost.
Is there anyways that the value of Message is retained for both the aspx pages?

AJAX :: Web User Control Loaded Into PlaceHolder Control Causing Full Postback On Parent Page?
Jun 1, 2010In my default.aspx page I have a PlaceHolder control within an UpdatePanel. In this placeholder control I will dynamically load a web user control, which is just a form with a submit button. On this user control, I have the form within an update panel and I have the "Submit" button's Click Event added to the triggers.
When I submit the form, the UpdatePanel on the web user control nor the update panel on the default.aspx page are capturing the post back, thus causing a full post back which refreshes my page.
how to capture this post so its rendered in Ajax and not a full post back?
