What is the most effecient method of doign this..triggers?
I have a small website with a database. Just two tables for personaldata and for files belongs to the personal data.
This files are stored on HD. My problem is to delete this file by clicking on delete button within gridview. At the moment only the record is deleting but not the file which belongs to this record.
That is my Gridview:

COMPLETE NOOB, dont know anything.. I have a Virtual directory ~/ClubInfoFiles that i upload some files too using a uploader i made. I might want to change the uploader i made to be able to change to a subdirectory or something so i can upload all files into one folder but different subdirectorys. the uploader i would like to be able to have a dropdown menu of all the subdirectorys within "ClubInfoFiles" say i has subfolders : Minutes, Flight Plans, Maintence Records, etc... but i would also like a field to where i can create a new subdirectory and have it automaticly update the dropdown. i want to list those files in gridview and have a link to dowload/open and dellete the files. i have found some code that gets close but it uses Auto Generate columns. really i dont need all that jazz, just the Name, File extention, and hyperlink the file for download/view. i would like to be able to delete and possible upload using the gridview... is this to much for a noob?

We are currently updating our policy page on our intranet. Currently the page is written in ASP and connects to an Excel spreadsheet that serves as an index, which contains policy name and number. We also have a directory that contains all of the policiesnamed the policy number. The control that is currently being used will get all of the policies listed in the index and create links for them. We do not have to manually create the hundreds of links we just update the index. Does anyone have an idea of a control or a way I can accomplish this in asp.net?
We have a file upload feature in one of our websites developed in ASP.NET and C#.NET. We would like to scan the files for viruses automatically before they are being uploaded into our server. We are using AVG server edition on our server. How can we enable this feature.
I am a very new programmer.. A website is providing a lot of zip files that i needed. It will be updated/uploaded new zip files weekly. What I need to do is write a program/script to do auto downloading from the web weekly.. for example, this is the web link
http://www.google.com/googlebooks/uspto-patents-applications-yellowbook.html ( you can see a lot of zip files there )
so my question is What script i have to write(i got no experience in writing any script, so what can you suggest?) so i can download the zip file programmatically? then how should i make it to download the new zip file uploaded weekly? Is it i have to use DOM...unix? if yes, i will do some research on tat to make it work.
I want to restore .bak files from a server directory into database. The problem is it should behave automatically. Whenever a .bak file will be uploaded in that specified directory of the server that file will be restored. It may happen by using sql procedure which will restore all the .bak file which it will find at a certain time in that specified directory. Or, it may happen by using asp.net program which will run exclusively on server and call a sql procedure to restore a backup file whenever a backup file will come in that specified directory. But I am not getting how to figure out this ideas programetically.
I'm frequently adding a lot of content files (mostly images and js) to my ASP.NET project. I'm using VS publish system, and on publish, new files are not published until I include them in the project. I would like to auto include all files in specified directory. Is there a way to specify wich directories should be auto-included in csproj file or anywhere else?
1. A piece of software running locally on my pc periodically uploads (approximately every three minutes) to my webserver an xml file comprised of six fields. The file size is < 1K. 1a. The file name is always the same. ie. filename.xml is uploaded. Three minutes later, filename.xml is uploaded again, this time with different contents. I have no control over renaming this file.
2. A chunk of code that parses the xml and inserts the six fields into a database
3. Deletes the xml file
4. Waits for the next xml file to appear in the folder
5. Goto 2.
The locally running software uploads the file without issue. So far, I'm able to parse the xml, do the database insert and delete the file manually by refreshing the browser window and subsequently running the code in the .cshtml file. What I'm having a hard time conceptualizing is what the best way is to set up an automated event/method that watches the folder and when a new file appears, write it to the db without user intervention. Also, where would I put this code? _AppStart? Do I need to start a FileSystemWatcher event on the server somehow? I'm kinda stumped as to how best to proceed.
I have a repeater which binds a set of data. Within this repeater is a column with various controls for updating, deleting, etc. These are image buttons which fire an onclick event such as "DeleteRecord". All this does is fire a stored procedure, passing in the ID of the record to delete from the CommandArgument of the object.
This works wonderfully... except for one rather huge problem. Once you delete a record, if you refresh the page, the record where the first deleted record used to be gets deleted. For instance... if I have 4 records
1 Record1 2 Record2 3 Record3 4 Record4
and I delete record 2... The page reloads with (which is fine):
1 Record1 3 Record3 4 Record4
...if I then hit refresh...
1 Record1 4 Record4
I assume this is because the erroneously deleted object (record3) is now in the same hierarchical place as the old object used to be and .net therefore doesn't know the difference, the page refreshes and fires the onlick event, grabbing out the command argument of the new object and deletes based on the ID as obtained from the commandargument of the new object. This is obviously a huge problem, if a client did this it would destroy data erroneously and I'm at a loss here. Is there any way to stop this from happening? I'm not sure if there is a better way to go about doing things or not. If there isn't, I need some sort of way to tell the page not to execute the event or to cross reference the ID of the object that is intended for deletion against the object itself...
Code below for convenience...
EDIT Wrapped a LinkButton around it because I have some jquery code in here as well which stops the page execution to wait for user confirmation. Pressing "ok" continues page execution.
<asp:LinkButton ID="oDeleteLink" CssClass="oDeleteIcon" CommandName="Delete" CommandArgument='<%# Eval("iAccountID") %>' runat="server"> <asp:ImageButton ImageUrl="/files/system/icons/trash-steel-16.png" ToolTip="Delete This Account" AlternateText="Delete" ID="oDeleteIcon" runat="server" /> </asp:LinkButton> protected void oAccounts_ItemCommand(Object Sender, RepeaterCommandEventArgs e) { if (e.CommandName == "Delete") { int ID = e.CommandArgument.ToString().Numeric(); db.SPs.SpDeleteAccount(ID).Execute(); UI.Confirm(uiBroadcast, "Account has been deleted", "300px"); BindAccounts(); } }
I just inherited an ASP.NET WebForms web application that I was tasked with refactoring. One of the features is a file upload and while debugging I noticed that as soon as a file is posted to a certain page/handler, it is automatically uploaded to the root directory of the application. The file is then moved to the proper location. I can't seem to figure out whats causing this automatic upload of the file. Is there something I'am overlooking in ASP.NET WebForms that allows this to happen? Is it an IIS configuration or something?
I've been manually adding the following line every time I create a new user control / web form in one of my ASP.NET web forms projects: Option Strict On. I can't just set it in web.config because it's a legacy project that has user controls / web forms that would bomb out if we turned on option strict for the entire site, so the current solution is to apply it to all new user controls / web forms and slowly update the older pages. Is there some sort of Visual Studio setting / template I can change so that "Option Strict On" is applied automatically when Visual Studio creates the codebehind files?
I am using VS2005 and SQL Server 2005. The problem I am having is when I call my SQLDataSource to delete rows the delete is firing twice. The trace and debugging show the code executing once. In fact right after the delete, the table only shows one delete, but right after the command function is exited the 2nd row is deleted. Also, I have tested the stored procedure to make sure it only deletes 1 one and then resequences the records.Show below are excerpts from my .aspx and code behind files.
the problem i that I'm filling a static table with dynamic rows, cells and controls. Add control to cell, add cell to row, loop, add cell to row, loop, add cell to row, loop, add row to table, loop etc etc. After a user makes a selection, the table should clear and repopulate with new data. The thing is, when the next set of data loads it seems the first text box in the first cell retains old data... I've checked the procedure and stepped through where the box is loaded into the cell... all appears fine. 'm doing a table.rows.clear() before re-population and I'm guessing I'm not dropping the controls?
I have a form that when I click the delete button I want it to refresh the grid with that record removed from the grid. Does anyone know how to do this. Is this something handled in the code behind? Here is my code for the delete button on the design page:
