Web Forms :: Forgot Password - Page Not Accessible To Non-LoggedIn Users In Forms Authentication
May 7, 2015
URL....I use this one as my login, and I addes hyperlink for Forgot Password. But why I can't access the FORGOT PASSWORD.aspx for every time I click it. And when I login it redirects t Forgot Password. How I can access it without logging in?
I have used form authentication, when i am trying to open the forgot passord page by click on link button that is on same login page. it needs authentication without authentication, i am not able to access the forgotpage.aspx
I am using ASP.NET Forms Authentication for my application. I have made my Password Format "Clear", so no problems with the password encryption. I need to create a view(in SQL server) to display all Administrators in my System. ie aspnet_Roles.LoweredRoleName='administrator' The fields needed are UserName and Password
After pressing forgot password ,I redirect to page having textbox for email id.When I enter mail id and click on send button I want to send the saved password from database to that mail id. How can I achieve that?
My database contains userid(not auto incremented and specific to user),mailId,password fields. My login page contains UserId nd Password and link of forgot password.
I have an asp.net website in which users can submit reports. Another tester and I tested this page at the same time and when I went to review the information I submitted, it displayed information that I didn't submit. It displayed the info submitted from the other user.
I use session variables for these values. I don't understand how this happened? What can I do so each user can individually submit their information without overlapping some one else's information? The plan is for multiple users to be able to use this page to submit their weekly layer reports.
The first example of code is how I add the session variables from the textboxes.
[Code]....
The second one is how I display them in labels on a confirmation page.
I am a beginner of asp.net..I currently have a login page with forgot password link button on the bottom of the screen. I am also using forms authentication to prevent an unauthorized user from accessing the other pages. The authentication seems to be working fine except for one thing. It prevents the user from accessing the password recovery page once the user click on the link button. How do I allow all users access to the login/password pages and also prevent them from viewing the other pages if they are not authenticated? The code below is to prevent from other anonymous view other pages without access. But i got no idea on how to allow them to access password recovery page...
<authentication mode="Forms"> <forms loginUrl="/Presentation/Display/Login.aspx" name=".ASPNETAUTH" protection="All" path="/" timeout="120" cookieless="UseDeviceProfile" slidingExpiration="true"/> </authentication> <!-- This section denies access to all files in this application except for those that you have not explicitly specified by using another setting. --> <authorization> <deny users="?"/> </authorization>
I want to implement a forgot-password feature in asp.net mvc that allows users to reset their password, and have some questions in this regard: Lets say that before allowing users to reset their password, I want to verify some extra information such as their first and last name. This info is not stored by default in the table created by aspnet_regsql. What is the recommended approach to address such issues?
Should I store this kind of info in a separate table, and use table joins to verify OR should i modify the schema of the table generated by aspnet_regsql (how?) so that I don't have to use joins? Do I need to write a custom provider OR would that not be necessary? I have read at places e.g. in this post that instead of emailing a temporary password, an alternative is to email a URL that when clicked allows users to change their password. How is this done? How to ensure that the URL expires after 1 hour?
My customer is asking me to build the login mechanism as following:
There is a login square,it has a "fogot password" link, when this link is being pressed, login square disappears and "forgot password" square appears on his place.
I use build in login and password recovery controls of MS2008.
How can I implement such an issue?
I've tried to do it with multiview control, but when I converted login control to template,"forgot password" link appears as a hyperlink, wich doesn't have a click event.
Besides, multiview is a server side control and there is a litle bit hard to change its ActiveIndex on Client side.
When a user that has their IE set to save passwords hits my "Reset Password" form, the first text box set with TextMode set to "Password" is populated with the users saved password. Understandable, this is not the affect I would like as this is their "old" password. I cannot set the text of a text box with mode set to "Password" (naturally). Does someone know how to suppress or clear this value when IE is saving passwords?
I'd like to use the ASP.NET membership provider in the following (low-security) scenario...
My company will create and administer user accounts on behalf of our clients. These accounts will likely be shared amongst several people in the client company (is that a problem?).
There will be 2 types of users (2 roles): client and administrator. Administrators are the people within my company that will have special privileges to create client user accounts, etc.
Clients will not be able to self-register. They also won't get to choose their own password, and they should not be able to change their password either, since that will just create confusion where several people are sharing the same account.
My internal users (admins) will set the password for each client. Here's the bit I'm struggling with: if a client phones up and asks to be reminded of their password, how can my admin users find out what the password is? Can I configure the provider to store the password in clear text (or other recoverable form), and if so can I get at the password through the .NET API?
As I said at the outset, this is a low-security application, and so I plan simply to show the password in the (internal) web page where I have a list of all users.
I am trying to create a forgot password section within my login section and it doesnt seem to work.
In my forgotpassword.aspx page my code looks like this:
[code]....
According to our records, you have requested that your password be reset. Your new password is: <%Password%>
If you have any questions or trouble logging on contact a site administrator.

I am implementing "Forgot Password" functionality in asp.net mvc 2.0 site.Scenario is ,If i click Forgot Password button it will go to some page and it asks the user to enter his email id.Once he entered his email-id ,then his password is retrieved from the database and send to his email id . How to send password to user email.
My purpose is to modified some data only for current page in a gridview. I call this function in page load and GridView_PageIndexChanged events. When it's called in page load event, it works fine. But when it's called in PageIndexChanged event, only the rows on the first page in GridView are looped through. For example, if I click page 5, the rowStartIndex becomes 100 = 5 x 20 (my pagesize). The if condition becomes itemsRead >= 100 andAlso itemsRead < 120. But after itemsRead is increased to 19, the For each gridViewRow loop stops and the if condition is never satisfied.
I had been trying to solve this but there is a hidden key i wish someone point me to.
I had a simple membership database with users in first the Membership Provider configured for clear password to retrieve the original password .
Now a new requirement say that the password must be hashed and reset .
I configure the Membership password to hash , and Implemented the Reset Password Module.
My problem is as follow.
If the user is new registered user with the new configuration the password and the security answer is hashed.
also when I go and reset the password it continue to be hashed.
Now I thought that with new configuration if any previous user with clear text configuration , If he use the password Reset module , because my configuration now is hashed , I expected that the new password and security answer will be hashed . what happen is old user continue in clear text even if the configuration is hashed. so If I had new users everything is fine.
old users Membership Provider somehow know they had been stored in clear text and it keep change password and security answer in clear text . If I delete this user and create it , Membership Provider understand that everything will be hashed. I need to know how it know this , I need to migrate users not to delete and recreate users .
Also if there are no solution for that , I wish Microsoft Consider it in future cause it is a real user scenario, that can happen imagine a business system that related to membership user Id , deleting users and recreate them is not a solution .
