I am have done a basic asp.net application User Module with out using any authentication classes.
Now I need to store last user login details in my asp page when user performs any operation. and need to show to other User who next login that ( the last user has made changes before ).
Our application lets the administrator create new users. Since the administrator is logged in, I have set Logincreateduser = false so that the administrator is not logged out even after creating the new user.
The problem is :I need the userid of the newly created user to store additional details of the user in another database table. I see that i can get the username using Createuserwizard1.username; but how do I get the userID?
We will put the active directory logon when the user access the website, the user needs to fill in his user name and password.
How do we store/get the details of the logon user once the user is logged in?

I set up the gridview to show select and wanted to then connect a details view so that when you selected a row the entire details would show up. When I run it I get this error. Data keys must be specified on GridView 'GridView1' before the selected data keys can be retrieved. Use the DataKeyNames property to specify data keys.

I hv used datagridview control to show specific details about users health infomation. what i want to achieve is that when a user logs in he should be displayed only dat information which he had added in data grid view.... bt as in nw whenever i login i m able to display all the info. present in the db.... m using asp.net vb and sql server 2008.

I've created a perfect matrix report using the nifty wizard and it's exactly what the client wants, but they would also like to see the detail for each row.I'm able to create subreports and pass parameters and all that jazz, but I'm having a hard time setting up a subreport for this matrix.

My goal is to load a row details from db to a webform and let the user update it's value .
The user searches an id (i have a stored procedure for that), how i show that data from the row nicely in the web page through the dal layer. After the data is shown on the page the user need to update a cell in the row and send it.(the part of updating is not the problem).
in other questions how should the dal method should look and how i integrate it's result in the presentation layer (the aspx webform).

I just observed something with the .net 3.5 VS2010 Login control. It seems to response.redirect is doing
something I cant explain:

after I hit the response.redirect all that is happening is that I stay on the login page and the URL
changes to http://localhost:50324/Account/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fAccount%2fAdmin%2fApproval.aspx
Why am I not properly redirected? I used server.transfer, that put me on the right page (Approval.aspx) BUT as soonas I clicked a button, I was back at Login.aspx.
Searching StackOverflow, I found this question on how to Retrieve SMTP settings from Web.Config, but no details on how to update the SMTP back to the web.config file.
I started with the following code:

I have a datalist bound to a sql source having two columns: Name and Description. The datalist contains a "Show Description" link as follows on clicking on which it calls the javascript which shows the description div.

The asp.net page source for itemtemplate of the datalist is as follows.The problem is that since the div id "Description" is applicable to multiple records, no matter I click on whichever "show details" link, the description of first record in the datalist is shwon and hidden since its the first div encountred by the javascript. i have a master/details page which shows walks planned for the future and they can click "details" for the full details
but what i want to incorporate into it is that when they are looking at the full details there is an option to add them to it as attending by entering a user name and password (saved in a table in the database) and if entered correctly their username will be added to it as attending.
