The below code working fine but I dont want to pass the username and pwd at NetworkCredential. Is there any way to avoid passing username and password ? Is it mandatory that we should pass from username and password in NetworkCredential ? Â

I have to make a login form using vb.net. The login form should either accept
Username ID or
Email ID or
Phone number
---- either of one ,and match it with the password of the corresponding record in the user table.
The user table has following column:- U_ID(varchar),mail(varchar),Phone(Number),Password(Varchar)
The form has two textfields - 1. Username
2.Password
And a submit button. If combination is correct I should be redirected to the Index page.
But I don't have to scan through all the columns of the user table to match the password.
(a)If the user enters user_id say- ID 10012 then we should be able to search only the record in the user_id column as it has alphanumeric or varchar data type and match with corresponding password.
(b)If the user enters Email id we should be able to search through the email id column as email id contains "@ and ." sign.
(c)If the user enters phone number then we should search only the phone column as it has numeric datatype.

I need to create a view(in SQL server) to display all Administrators in my System. ie aspnet_Roles.LoweredRoleName='administrator' The fields needed are UserName and Password

I am writing a simple plugin for IE. I need to store a password and username setting for the user who uses the plugin. I know that I can store the username/password in the registry, I can manually encrypt it using the encription classes with .NET, or I can store it in a config file and encrypt the config file. I was wondering if there is a specific pattern/mechanism that I should use to store password and username.

I've a code to persist information in cookies about users like UserName and password.
Question is:
Its not secure to store information like that plain text in cookies.My DB store hashed passwords,so i could save those hashs in cookies and retrieve them later,but if i do that i wouldnt be able to fill password's textbox cause the hash string would be too long for it.

I'm using this to get the logged in user:

Is there similar functionality to get the currently logged in users email from the database?

I was curious how some of you are sending out an email to a new user, are you sending more then one email with username and link in one and then the password in another, are you sending everything in one email, are you sending an email to the new user at all?I'm curious because my web site is not a self registering web site, Only a supervisor can create a new user and then that user gets an email. I'm trying to figure out the best way to send the new user an email with their credentials to the site.the users are outside users (vendors) though their username is created by an internal employee

I am attempting to create a user programatically with Email as the username. My code calls one of the CreateUser overloads, passing only Username, Password and Email. It consistently fails with a status of MembershipCreateStatus.InvalidAnswer. How can this be? I'm not even passing it a security question or answer.

In my application i have login Page in that i have login Control of asp.net, when user clicks on submit button i am authenticating the user and and redirecting to default url.
now what i want is using address bar i want to authenticate the same process with out opening the login page and give user name and password in the login control. Directly i want to inject the username and password in the address bar and need the same functionality what the submit button does.

I want to use autouser login in my website using ASP.NET C#.i.e., If I say that autouser login, this means user has to include user id and password to url for verification.

My Login.aspx form in Visual Studio 2013 just seems to be 'static' after I enter the correct username and password. I don't get any errors. My Login.aspx.vb code looks like this:

Foe getting Logon computer username i m using digest authntication mode. But when i browse website it's asking for username and password. while already windows login with the same username.
I understood that in this auhtntication mode it's required. But r there any configuration with it i am not getting this Prompt ? Any group ploicy ??
For IE i have added website into trusted zone but still it's asking for username and password.
R there any other way i getting Computer logon name in asp.net application. There are But only work when i run from Editor from IIS it's not retuning value.

I cannot send email to the the users when they forget their password ( I am using .NET's Forgot password wizard), and I am using the below code in the web.config file. My hosting provider is Go Daddy and it is a shared hoting.

I can email the password in my local machine by using the forgot password wizard, but after I have uploaded all the files in Go Daddy, it does not work. That means, I am wrong somewhere at above mentioned code.
