Web Forms :: Radio Button Returning Null When Checked?
Apr 7, 2010
I have 3 radio buttons op1, op2, op3 working as a group. In the code behind I check to see if a paticular button is checked, then do some processing. The problem is all the buttons return null. Checked in the debugger and all values are null even op1 which value is set to true.
I have added a template field in a gridview. In that i have added a radio button. I have written a code which will get row Id of GridView of a row which is having a radiobutton on it checked. Through code i am getting even name of that radio button, but it is showing me that radio button is not checked, even when it is already checked. Here is the code. Dim row As GridViewRow Dim rd As RadioButton Dim rowId As Integer = -1 For Each row In GridView1.Rows rd = CType(row.FindControl("radio1"), RadioButton) If rd.Checked = True Then rowId = row.RowIndex Exit For End If Next Even when a radio button is checked the code never enters the if block.
I am looping through all the posted data on my website and grabbing the values, this will then be used later on. The user is going to put 2 radio buttons on the page, one with a correct answer and one with an incorrect answer. I need to know how to see if a Radio Button is checked or not based on the posted data.
I'm trying to add a css class to the parent div of my radio button if it is checked. Then remove if it is not checked. Using onfocus and onblur won't work on radio buttons for some reason. I also want to achieve this without specifying any type of id or name, just by the html control of 'input'.
I have never worked on classic ASP and unfortunately i am supposed to modify an old classisc ASP web site.
ASP.Net ViewState does take care of maintaining control's sate automatically. How do i do it in classic ASP ?
I have two radio buttons and a text box placed on my ASP page, when user types in something in the text box based on radio button selection we display different search results. Now what i need is to keep the previously selected radio button as checked after the page is postbacked. How do i do that ?
I've two radio buttons in my web site for selecting sex, one s for Male & another s for Female, Problem is during the Run time, I was able to select both the Radio Buttons, but as per my need i should select only one radio button. And i should perform validation Wn user not selected even one radio button i should show the error msg, like " select sex "
how do i go about looping through each group of radio buttons and getting the text of the selected radio button ?the code displayed above is created dynamically ... in my aspx file i have the following code
Using jQuery I want to be able to click an element which will also checks it's related radio button. I had this working fine until we had to add runat="server" to the radio buttons. When I apply this it prevents my jQuery function from working how to get round it, heres a simplified version of the code:HTML
I've found out that when its converted to a .net control instead of checked="checked" (as it would be usually) it is just Checked, so I changed that but on inspecting the DOM in multiple browsers, none of my radio buttons are being checked(Are there any other ways I can use jQuery to check a radio button that has runat="server"?
I have a web application that shows a page containing between 6 and 20 AJAX UpdatePanels, contained with Custom Web (.ascx) Controls.
You can see an example of such a page here:
The problem I'm getting is that when the user FIRST clicks any of the radio-buttons on any of the controls in the page, ALL the radio buttons that have an active selection ALSO fire an rb_CheckChanged event (see application log below). On subsequent radio-button clicks, only that RB fires the event (as expected).
This behaviour is having a dramatic impact on performance. The page loads quickly, and a "normal" RB click provides an AJAX update correctly within 1 second. The problematic first RB click, however, takes up to SIX seconds to process, which is unacceptable from a user experience standpoint.
Developed in VS.NET 2008, ASP.NET 3.5. Also I converted the "Web Site" solution to a "Web Application" (pre-compiled) and got the same performance (still too slow). Release builds run only marginally faster than debug builds.
Why would a single RB selection change cause all RB's that have a "selection" set on them to also fire? (The "selection" is determined through database settings every time the control is populated, which is called from within the parent page control's Page_Load function. This selection is determined also at first page load, since all the controls get populated then, so why would the clicking of an RB cause them all to fire an event, and only once? That's what I don't get...)
Not sure if this is an AJAX issue, or general ASP.NET UI issue, so I'm posting in two forums on this one.
I have the following code<asp:RadioButton runat="server" Text="Male"></asp:RadioButton>I want a gap between the radio button and the radio button text, I made the following changes in the text field(prefixed a space) Text=" Male". However, I don't feel this is the most efficient way.
This problem is driving me nuts. I have labels inside a gridview. When i reference them, i keep getting a null error. This is definatly that it cant find the labels inside the template. below is my code that i am using.
Line 13: Line 14: Private Sub BindGrid() Line 15: Dim constr As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("constr").ConnectionString Line 16: Using con As New SqlConnection(constr) Line 17: Using cmd As New SqlCommand("Customers_CRUD")
Imports System.Data Imports System.Configuration Imports System.Data.SqlClient Public Class tessatusatu Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
I'm having trouble getting selected rows in asp.net. i tried to debug it and found out that the answer to "chkRow.Checked" is always false eventhough it is selected. I'm new to asp.net.here is my code.
Protected Sub btnApproveYes_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btnApproveYes.Click Dim modID As String = String.Empty For Each row As GridViewRow In gvModule.Rows
I have 3 tabs with 3 seperate gridview and radios buttons in them. Each page has a seperate submit button, but for some reason each pages submit button is validating all the radio buttons on each tab, i picked the seperate controls to validate under but on any submit theya re all validated instead of just the ones on that tab.
I have a databound Gridview (with a LINQ datasource). The gridview displays questions from the SQL DB to the user. I've inserted a radio button list into the gridview with 3 horizontal radio buttons with fixed values of 1,2,3 for the user to select. I have a question ID, a tempuserID, and AnswerValue columns set up in the database. It all works nicely.
After the user selects radio buttons, I would like for them to push a button to submit the QuestionID, the associated Radio Button Value (AnswerValue) and their tempUserID into the DB. How do I do this? I'm not sure what to do next and what VB/LINQ code to put in the code behind file in the button click event handler. I'm also not sure on what to use for the tempUserID, can I use the sessionID? I'm using VB and here's my code:
This is regarding GetPreloadedEntityBody() function of HttpWorkerRequest class . I am using this method to get perloaded data of requested page. but GetPreloadedEntityBody() function alway returns me null value , while same code is working for server with IIS6.0
1) I have Application_PostAcquireRequestState event . on which i do all user releated validation.
2) After Sucessful validation i am creating object like below code snippet of worker process.
Dim hwr As HttpWorkerRequest = CType(context.GetType.GetProperty("WorkerRequest", Reflection.BindingFlags.Instance Or Reflection.BindingFlags.NonPublic).GetValue(context, Nothing), HttpWorkerRequest)
3) AFter That checking where request has body or not and the calling GetPreloadedEntityBody() which is returning null alway for IIS7.0 ,while in IIS6.0 same code is working fine.
if hwr.HasEntityBody Then Dim preloadedBufferData As Byte() = hwr.GetPreloadedEntityBody() end if
what more do i have to do so that i can get return value form GetPreloadedEntityBody() function.
iam using asp.net2.0 with c# with sql server 2000 when iam executing the procedure in local system it is working fine.but when iam executing in client system procedure returns null value, i have checked all connection string , and session value all are working
I have an ASP.NET web service which returns an XMLDocument. The web service is called from a Firefox extension using XMLHttpRequest.
var serviceRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); serviecRequest.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "text/xml; charset=utf-8");
I consume the result using responseXML. So far so good. But when I iterate through the XML I retrieve nodeValue - nodeValue is always null. When I check the nodeType the nodeType is type 1 (Node.ELEMENT_NODE == 1).
Node.NodeValue states all nodes of type Element will return null.
In my webservice I have created a string with the XML i.e. xml="Hank"
I then create the XmlDocument XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument(); doc.LoadXML(string);
I know I can specify the nodetype using using CreateNode. But when I am just building the xml by appending string values is there a way to change the nodeType to Text so Node.nodeValue will be "content of the text node".
Im currently experincing some difficulties with the viewState. The scenario is that i have a datagrid that has a column of buttons that when pressed will store a value in the viewState. I have already done this on one occasion in the same page, but for some reason the second item in the view state is always returning null, even when i hardcode in a number in before the postback. Im at a loss as to why this is happening, anyone expericened this and know what is wrong.
EDIT: Ive found out the cause, Its due to when you click a button in a data grid it does the postback code first, then fires the event handler, so of course the view state would be empty as it is coded to be set in the event handler for the button click. Is there any way to avoid that? So the event code is fired before the postback code?
