Web Forms :: Error Using FileUpload Control When Uploading Larger Files. The Connection Was Reset?

Oct 24, 2010

I am experiencing the following page error when trying to use the FileUpload control on my web page to upload files larger than 3MB or so. The error is as follows:"Problem loading page The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."I suspect this may be due to a timout issue. If so, how can I increase the timeout period for this control / process? I am coding in VB.NET.

Getting Mixed Results With Page Validation And Modal Popup Usage On A Page?

Mar 9, 2010

I have a page that works great until now that they wanted to add a ModalPopup based on a field value. Before the addition of this modal popup, i had a button event that would do the inserting of the data, it caused the page to validate and as long as the page passed then it would insert and move on to the next page. Now i have a ModalPopup displaying IF a certain field is empty. If they answer Yes to the modalpopup question, it takes them back to the page and sets the focus on that field. Works fine, but if they select No then i need the page to validate and insert the record and move on.I have a customvalidator for the field i need to check. I then have my insert on the main button that causes the validation. The "Yes" and "No" buttons within the modalpopup have the following setup.

My Main submit button has the following:

If i select NO it just goes back to the page and doesnt move forward. If i select YES and enter something the page pops up the modal again and again because i've clicked in the field and keeps asking even though there is now a value in the field. But since there is a value, i can continue on to the next page.

DataSource Controls :: Uploading Files To Sql Server Dbase?

Mar 6, 2010

and i found it, here http://forums.asp.net/p/1480079/3451771.aspxi can fairly easily code for a general dbase (name, address, etc..)my question here with this code is...where does my dbase info go?

my dbase info
dbase name = files
tablename = fileTable
column names = fileOne, fileTwo, fileThree
the file upload object is called "fileupload1" and this all goes with a "submit" button

also, that is pretty much for one file, what if the user is uploading more than one file? do i just add more if/then statements, one for each fileupload object?

Configuration :: Uploading File Using Fileupload To Another Server?

Oct 12, 2010

I am using the fileupload control to upload an excel file to a server, but I am getting a
"Access to the path '\<server>importResponses.xls' is denied" when I try to use fileUploader.SaveAs(filepath). The filepath I use is \<server>importResponses.xls, so I am actually saving it to a share on a different server.My environment consists of a web server and a database server. I am trying to upload the excel file to a share on the database server. A stored procedure then takes that excel file and imports the data from it into a table. So the problem isn't with being unable to save a file to a share on the web server, but it's a problem with being unable to save a file to a share on the database server. It used to work, but now it doesn't and I have no idea why. What process(es) on the database server do I need grant write access for in order for the fileupload control to successfully save the excel file?Right now, I only have the Network Service account with read/write access to the share on the database server. I tried adding other accounts, such as the ASPNET and IUSR_<server name> accounts, but nothing seems to work.The web application that does the actual uploading is configured like this:

<authentication mode="Windows"/>
<identity impersonate="true"/>

Could that have anything to do with it?If you're asking why I'm trying to save an excel file on the database server instead of on the web server, this was the only way I got this to work. If anyone has a better suggestion on how to programatically import excel data into a SQL table, I am all ears.

Uploading Files Asynchronously In .NET (AsyncFileUpload And Flash Controls Not Suitable)

Jan 20, 2011

I have looked at various options for uploading files asynchronously in ASP.NET. the default Microsoft control does full postback, AsyncFileUpload control has only one button and cannot change the text and appearance and I need two buttons browse and upload. not interested in flash based controls. I found this

html close to what I need. it uses iframe to achieve this, but I would like a simplified version of this. I just want to display an image while uploading, I don't need number of bytes transferred etc. how can I achieve this? I just need to upload the file asynchronously without page flickering and save the file to the server and update the page contents after the upload is complete.

C# - Save Files From Dynamically Added FileUpload Controls

Jan 15, 2011

I'm building an ASP.NET UserControl where users of the website can upload several pictures at once. I'm doing it the old fashioned way by letting the user enter the amount of FileUpload controls wanted and then add them dynamically from C# to a asp:Panel control.

While this works, the values/files from the FileUpload isn't stored for when the user clicks the "Save" button. How exactly do I go about this problem?

My code for specifying the amount of FileUpload controls wanted:

Web Forms :: Uploading Multiple Files In 1.1?

Sep 23, 2010

I am trying to make a web application which copies the existing functionality of a windows forms application using Visual Studio 2003. This windows application takes multiple (I am talking at least 30) text files and joins them together into one text file which can then be feed into a Mainframe system in the correct format. I have written web applications before that uploads images and pdfs but the key thing is it was always only one or two files at a time, so this was easy to do with the HTML fileupload control.

What I want to do is to be able to open a directory on the local computer and either automatically, or give the user the chance to multi select (I dont think this is possible) all of the 30 or so files they wish to upload. Once its been uploaded I can do the processing to join the files and create my new one etc. All the examples I have seen on the web, you have to select the files one by one to add to a list box and then they can all be uploaded but this wont be acceptable to my users...

Web Forms :: Uploading Files From One Site To Another?

Aug 24, 2010

I need to upload files from one site to another and I thought about using the WebClient class and FileUpload method from the System.Net namespace. I read the MSDN documentation and it seems an easy task to achieve but something is going on wrong. For now, I am only testing with the following simple code to upload a file to a test web server in our office which uses HTTP port 8080 instead of 80:

The code above issues the following exception: "The remote server returned an error: (404) No Found." I have made sure that both paths are correct.

Also, does the UploadFile method saves the file physically in the hard disk (I suppose so) or does it load it into the server's memory?
