Web Forms :: Value Of 'Byte' Cannot Be Converted To 'System.Data.Linq.Binary'?
Jun 28, 2010
I am trying to get the following code behind to store a file in a datbase using Linq (with *dbml). I am getting an intellisense error in my "For each" loop the says the following":Value of 'Byte' cannot be converted to 'System.Data.Linq.Binary'I have been searching for awhile, but I can't seem to find a solution that has worked for me yet.
I am trying to upload a picture into database using FormView insertItemTemplate. FormView is bounded by objectdatasource. To upload, I placed FileUpload control inside insertItemTemplate. In table the dataType is image.Error:Object of type 'System.Boolean' cannot be converted to type 'System.Byte[]'.
I have datalist bind with sql datasourceI have update command
Protected Sub DataList1_UpdateCommand(ByVal source As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataListCommandEventArgs) Dim ID As String = DataList1.DataKeys(e.Item.ItemIndex).ToString() Dim title As TextBox = CType(e.Item.FindControl("textCategoryName"), TextBox) Dim image As FileUpload = CType(e.Item.FindControl("FileUpload1"), FileUpload)
[Code] ....
It shows the error in the line
SqlDataSource1.UpdateParameters("image").DefaultValue = image.FileBytes Value of byte can not be connverted to string
I also change the sql datasource parameters for image from object to byte
how to encrypt a PIN in to 4 byte binary. The MD5 and other hashes I have known give the result as 8 or 16 byte. I need only 4 bytes because it is alloted only varchar(4) in the database.
I'm retrieving a binary file from the database, a .pdf file that I would like to let the user open and view. From what I can tell, there are two steps to do this:
1. Convert binary file to byte array
2. Convert byte array to file content
Here's what I've got so far:
[Code]....
This isn't working and I'm having a heck of a time trying to find a solution. I'm getting a blue squiggly under c1.docData in the Dim bArray line.
I am trying to pull string values from LDAP. They are all text attributes in LDAP. I'm able to pull all values successfully from LDAP except one attribute below. following line of code displays System.Byte[] instead of actual string value. Why is it showing System.Byte[] and how can I fix it?
I have taken a DataTable control and have added colums to it. Now i want to add rows to that DataTable but when i am trying to create a DataRow of DataTable, an error is generated, showing "Value of type 'System.Data.DataRow' cannot be converted to 'dataRow'".
On the WebFrmSales.aspx, regarding the textbox controls, after the user have updated the SQL SERVER table with it. I tried to write the coding to clear all the textbox control but it not working.
This is the error message generated:
Error 6 Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to 'System.Web.UI.Control'.
I have written this query for retrieving data from mysql as below
select FeedbackCode,EMailID,FeedbackDetail, Date_Format(FeedbackDate,'%m,%d') as 'Feedback_Date' from FeedbackDetail where EMailID not like '' and InstanceCode =5 and I'm binding this data with GridView in asp.net but at the column of Feedback_Date, instead of Date I receive System.Byte[].
I got a variable of type System.Drawing.Image and need to convert it to a variable of type byte so I can store the image in the database. Can someone show me how to do that in VB.NET code.
I am develping an application that integrates with an RFID kit. The problem is, the kit comes with an .cs class that accepts data stored in a byte array however, each information stored in the array respresents an int. I wanted to store String information in each array but, my research suggest that a String itself can be converted to a byte array and not a byte....here the code from the .cs class:
All i did is added an existing webform from vs 2003 project to vs 2008. with Listbox1 control this error is appearing. value of type system.web.ui.webcontrols.listbox cannot be converted to "myprojectname.listbox"
i also have the control defined on the top: Protected WithEvents Listbox1 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListBox I have converted lot of pages which were used in vs 2003 to vs 2008 without any problem, also tried to right click teh webform and go to code gen file , but the file is not coming up.
I've just used Visual Studio to create a linq to sql class. In the .designer.cs file the code includes:using System.Data.Linq;However, when I compile the projeget:Compiler Error Message: CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Linq' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Data' (are you missing an assembly reference?)The code is completely generated by Visual Studio
I have been googling this and have not come along a working solution for an entire day. I don't know anything about binary data types (as I've never knowingly used them) and I'm trying to write a binary value that I see in the registry, to the registry. Now, all I see is the following [shown below]... and if I try to pass that as a string to the RegSetValueEx in the WinAPI and of course it errors out... I do not know what 'numbers' I need to pass into the lpData As Any, argument of RegSetValueEx (i tried a bit array) in order for it to come out as the following [shown below] in the regedit. I really have no idea, and my tests to place random numbers in the bit array just produce corresponding random "figures" as visible in regedit that I do not understand how to 'tie' them together logically.
here is the culprit!
[Code]...
If I had the following in a string or a bit array, what must I populate the bitarray with so that the registry outputs this [above] when written? or, how can I figure out how to do it? I was hoping there'd be a function that reads my string of binary data and transforms it into the real binary format to submit to the RegSetValueEx function in VB6 or other function in VB.Net or C# (this really is a language agnostic question, and the problem exists in all languages; ie: same process).
