I have a gridview that I would like to the set the textbox in edit mode to multi line in order to show more of the content of the cell. Does anyone know how to change this property, I have tried (I think) every single one I could find in the Gridview property settings for editstyle, item style, row style etc.

But I want use txtsearch=”Soliev” and show in multiline textbox Information, Height ,weight like this:
In my web page, i am retreiving values from database in textbox. I have one update button in that page when i change the textbox value and click on button the value does'nt change it is taking the same value. What is the problem i did'nt understand?
I guess I'm not sure exactly how or where to do what I need.
First off - here's what I need - - when the user clicks on the NEW button in the detailsView, I have the User.Identity.name captured in a variable and I need to set one of the textboxes (InsertItemTemplate) named 'txtNew' to that name.
I've tried using the ModeChanging (and ModeChanged) event: Dim dv As TextBox = CType(DetailsView1.FindControl("txtNew"), TextBox) If (e.NewMode = DetailsViewMode.Insert) Then ....
However, no matter what, 'dv' always shows as 'Nothing', so I can't change the text of it.
i have a page alignment issue on my page below, the application i have developed by ASP.NETthe problem is i have a text box in this text box i have set the textmode in passwordmy problem is below,

the moment is it was working fine on firefox and chrome perfectlybut IE am getting the above alignment issueactually i was set the both text box width is 168pxif i removed the text mode in password text box then it was working fine for both browserbut when i set text box mode am getting the above issue.
Is it possible to access textbox text properties from codebehind when gridview is edit mode? for example I can access label's text properties on gridview row databound event.
So I do not like use Text='<%#Eval("ColumnName")%' this method. I want to manage textbox text properties dynamcily codebehind when click the edit button on gridview. When I clik the edit button these code blocks runs
but rowdatabound event fires again and couldn't find label control. It looks for textbox control to bind data but I can not manage this step.
I am using the VS 2008. I m using the TextboxwaterMarkExtender,Its working,Suppose watermark text is Type Name Here,Suppose i type sonia in textbox,When i refresh the page, then in textbox that is attached to Extender text is changing to Type Name Here,I want that if I type in textbox sonia, when the page is refreshed & page comes back, sonia is still there in textbox.
i have one textbox with property TextMode="MultiLine"on my aspx page(C#)i entered data in that textbox & press enter to write next linebut while saving that multi line data in database it saves only single line data,it skips 2nd, 3rd, 4th.......... line.
On my Asp.Net GridView I am binding a textbox to a field in SQL. Sometimes the content of the textbox is more than 1 line and I
need to show only the LAST line. How can I do that? Here is part of my code...notice that I use Rows=1 on purpose so that I am able to show only 1 line but I need it to scroll all the way down and have it show only the last line of the whole content:
No problem there, but when I want to display the saved data into a multiline textbox (for editing) i can't get the linebreak to display.
I've tried these option, but nothing seems to work:
- txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", environment.newline) ' This displays some empty spaces but no new lines - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", vbcrlf) ' same result - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", vbnewline) ' same result - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", " ") ' This display the string like "blabla blibli" but no new lines - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", " ") ' same result - txtMulitline.text = .item("field").tostring.replace("<br />", " ") ' same result
Added <Body onkeydown = "return(event.keyCode!=13)"> into a VS2008 masterpage. Did this to disable the Enter key from basically doing a button click event. The code works great, however, we use multiline textboxes that were accepting Enter to do a newline in the textbox. Now the multiline textbox does nothing when Enter is pressed. Is there an override that would work on a single form that loads behind the master page? Ref: your Disable Enter key in TextBox to avoid postback in ASP.Net.
