DataSource Controls :: Can A Procedure Function Quering Several Times And Return Result Records Accumulated

May 11, 2010

In the procedure function, there will be queying several times based on conditions.

Suppose each query retrieves several records, can I caumulate those records in on table, then return that table.

Benifit I want to success here is that I want to save time, so instead of making several functions each has one query, each one requires a connection to databae, so it will take time.

Databases :: Oracle Store Procedure Does Not Return Any Thing In The Out Parameter

Oct 20, 2010

I am goig to execute an oracle store procedure using C# through through ODP.NET. The store procedure executes succsfully but it does not return any value in the out parameter.

When I execute the same store procedure with the same input parameteres from within SQL*Plus. It does return values.

This is to be clearify here that in the oracle store procedure the data type for the out parameter is number and in the c# the variavle that will hold its value is Integer. I also tried using Long on the C# side but it is still not working. After the successfull execution of the store procedure the C# variable contains nulll value.

ADO.NET :: Stored Procedures Only Return Integer Values?

Nov 3, 2010

I have the following stored procedure

[Code]....

MOVE_MOD is defined as a float.

Yet within Dataclasses.designer.cs the function gets added as:

[Code]....

Naturally this is causing some issues as my C# code needs to handle decimal values. If I try to manually change the designer code to use floats, I get the following error

'System.Single' is not a valid return type for a mapped stored procedure method.

SQL Server :: DAL Doesn't Return The Return Value Of Stored Procedure?

Nov 8, 2010

I have an update function in my data layer which is defined as:

public int UpdateRBTable(parameters ...) This calls a SQL Server Stored Procedure to perform an update function on the database.

The process does its job for updating the table. However, the stored procedure has a return value (which indicates how many rows were updated), but this return value is not returned to the application. The application always shows that a zero was returned from the stored procedure.

public class UploadedFile

public bool Success { get; set; }
public string Message { get; set; }

then In my controller I would set Success to true/or/false and Message to <a href OR <img am i on the right track?How would i then parse this in the view so that when image it will show an image, if link show a link, if error simply alert error.

Forms Data Controls :: Returning Single String Result Through Stored Procedure

Jun 22, 2010

I am trying to return single string result through a stored procedure and Linq. This works fine when I test the stored procedure but it is not returning the value to the page. The value returned is always 0 which is the return value. This is the stored procedure:

ALTER PROCEDURE Login
@CustomerName nvarchar(50),
@Password nvarchar(50) output
As
Select @Password=Password
From Customers
Where Customers.CustomerName=@CustomerName

This is the vb
ALTER PROCEDURE Login
@CustomerName nvarchar(50),
@Password nvarchar(50) output
As
Select @Password=Password
From Customers
Where Customers.CustomerName=@CustomerName is the code created by the designer

This is the designer function
<FunctionAttribute(Name:="dbo.Login")> _
Public Function Login(<Parameter(Name:="CustomerName", DbType:="NVarChar(50)")> ByVal customerName

As String, <Parameter(Name:="Password", DbType:="NVarChar(50)")> ByRef password As String) As IntegerDim result
As IExecuteResult = Me.ExecuteMethodCall(Me, CType(MethodInfo.GetCurrentMethod,MethodInfo), customerName, password)
password = CType(result.GetParameterValue(1),String)
End Function

Get Data From Two Tables With Linq And Return Result Into View

Mar 5, 2011

I have two tables: Projects and ProjectsData and I want to execute query with join and get the result in the View. In the Controller I have this code:

ViewBag.projectsData = (from pd in db.ProjectsData
join p in db.Projects on pd.ProjectId equals p.ID
where pd.UserName == this.HttpContext.User.Identity.Name
orderby p.Name, p.ProjectNo
select new { ProjectData = pd, Project = p });

What I should use in the View to extract this data. I tried that:

Web Forms :: Changing Select Parameters -use Different Procedure To Return Results?

Oct 15, 2010

It seems like this would be fairly straight forward. I've got a gridview that loads up using one stored proc, but I've got a searchbox to filter the grid, and when the user enters some criteria I want to use a different proc to return the results. Something tells me I should be doing this with one procedure, but I can't seem to make that work either. When the form loads, my grid is populated. And if I leave my search criteria blank and search anyway, my grid is still populated correctly. But if I enter search creteria, I get diddley squat. What gives? Here is the relevent snippets.

Get Data From Two Tables (join) With Linq And Return Result Into View?

Mar 4, 2011

I want to get data from Projects(which have CourseId) and related CourseName from Courses table.

I have written following code:

var projects = from n in db.Projects
join c in db.Courses on n.CourseId equals c.ID
orderby n.Name
select new { Project = n, Course = c };
return View(projects.ToList());

and I get error:

The model item passed into the dictionary is of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List1[<>f__AnonymousType22[ProjectManager.Models.Project,ProjectManager.Models.Course]]', but this dictionary requires a model item of type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[ProjectManager.Models.Project]'.

What I need to do in Controller and in View to display this data?

Web Forms :: Store Selected Index Of Listbox In Hidden Field And Then Return To That Value On Postback?

Jan 4, 2011

I must be doing something wrong, but this makes sense to me. I have a Listbox loaded with tons of items from a datasource. A user clicks one of these items it grabs the selectedindex (an integer) and stores it in a HiddenField (works fine).

Now when the page does a complete a refresh (after postback) I want the ListBox to go back to that selectedindex that is in the HiddenField. Problem is, it seems that after postback the HiddenField is empty? Then I thought about storing the value in an Integer variable in code, but that is simply coming up as a zero at all times.

Question 1: What is the best/simplest way to do this?

Question 2: How?

I am currently grabbing it on selectedindex change

C# - How To Convert The Result Of A Stored Procedure In A Dbml File

May 6, 2010

I have a MVC project that has a Linq to SQL dbml class. It is a table called Clients that houses client information. I can easily get the information to display in a View using the code I followed in Nerd Dinner but I have added a stored procedure to the dbml and it's result set is of IQueryable, not IQueryable. I need to convert IQueryable to IQueryable so I can display it in the same View. The reason for the sproc is so I can pass a search string tothe sproc and return the same information as a full list but filtered on the search. I know I can use Linq to filter the whole list but I don't want the whole list so I am using the sproc.

Here is the code in my ClientRepository with a comment where I need to convert. What code goes in the commented spot.

public IQueryable<Client> SelectClientsBySearch(String search)
{
IQueryable<SelectClientsBySearchResult> spClientList = (from p in db.SelectClientsBySearch(search) select p).AsQueryable();
//what is the code to convert IQueryable<SelectClientsBySearchResult> to IQueryable<Client>
return clientList;
}

Feb 23, 2010

Actually what i am doing in my Data Access Layer dragging store procedure to TestDbml to display records and creating data context instance in BAL to retrieve records and my method in BAL is like this

public IEnumerable display()
{
using (TestDataContext db = new TestDataContext())
{
var display = obj.USP_Actor_View_Speciality(p_UserName, 1);

Now the problem is that how can i iterate or fetch over the records and display accordingly in my Presentation Layer so that i could return all the field parameteres Like ield1=val.field1,field2=val.field2.
