Web Forms :: Rss Reader In HTC Cellphone Doesn't Update The List Of Items?

Sep 13, 2010

I have a rss feed. The rss page returns five items and the rss reader on iGoogle works perfect and updates the items just like I want to. But the rss reader in my HTC cellphone doesn't update the list of items, it just adds new items to the items it downloaded the previous time. It results in updated items being presentated multiple times in the rss.How can I tell the client to forgett its cache and reload the list?

Oct 20, 2010

I have a repeater that has an OnItemDataBound event on it. For some reason the repeater has three items being bound to it. But then I try the below it only writes '2' at the top of the page. The repeater itself does show the three items but this loop in the ondatabound event doesnt see the last item. Why?

protected void colourRepeater_ItemBound(object sender, RepeaterItemEventArgs e)
int count = 0;
foreach (RepeaterItem item in rptAssoicatedProducts.Items)

Forms Data Controls :: Letting User Update Database Using Dropdown List Items?

May 26, 2010

On my website, registered users can make a profile about themselves suchas name, Favoirite color, hobbies, etcI have a DataTable called User which hold this information.also there are other datatables for Hobbies and Colors which list all possible options.To let the user update their choices I have a FormView in Edit mode on the aspx page whichis binded to the UserTable with a GetProfileByUserId Method and objectdatasource.

Within the formview, i have added drop down lists that are binded to the hobbies and Colors tables so they can edit their previous selection.On clicking Uodate update formview calls an Update Method that adds new selections to the User databaseNow I have two questionsIs it possible to show in the dropdown list the selected value that the User has already made?If the user only changes hobbies and not colors when they click update will a null value be passed into the data table for colors that replaces their previous selection?

ADO.NET :: Can't Get Reader.hasrows And Reader.read To Work Together In Code Behind

Feb 22, 2011

I have some code in my vb.net code behind that queries a database, and if there is data, outputs it from the codebehind to a datalist on my asp.net page. In addition to sending the data to the datalist on the page, I need to take the value from "mbillaty" that is returned from the sql query, and have that value be the selected value for a drop down box also on the page. I can get either the datalist to fill, or the selected value for the dropdown box to be selected depending upon which bit of code I place before the other (ARGH), but I can't get them to both work together on the page. What am I doing wrong?

Security :: Cellphone Location In Webpage?

Jun 23, 2010

I do have a question with respect to cell phone locations.

f.i. how does google maps know my current position when using a cell-phone?

How can i make use of the current position of my cell phone. (How can i read that info and make use of it on a aspx webpage f.i.)

Ok this seems to be a tough one.

Example. when i use my iphone and start to use google. it automatically detects i have a mobile-phone (easy).

But then it request if it may use my gps locations. (if i then accept it reads my current locations).

My question is how can i do this myself using an asp.net webpage f.i.

Templates - Populate List Items In Dropdown List From Placeholder?

Feb 24, 2010

I'm designing my own custom control that contains a .NET dropdownlist. What I'm wondering is if it is possible to populate my dropdownlist with listitems placed in a placeholder? For example:

<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlFilter" runat="server" >
<asp:PlaceHolder ID="ListItemPlaceholder" runat="server"/>

This doesn't work because the DropDownList control only allows ListItems as child controls. But, I want to do something similar to this so when the user includes my control on a page, they can do something like this:

<mytag:MyControl Mode="DropDown" runat="server">
<asp:ListItem Text="C" Value="c"></asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem Text="E" Value="e"></asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem Text="B" Value="b"></asp:ListItem>

I know I can do this by dynamically adding the ListItems in the page code behind, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Forms Data Controls :: Datapager Doesn't Seem To Take Into Consideration That Some Items Are Not Visible

Mar 2, 2011

I have a listview which is served by a database via a dataview. Attached to this I have a datapager. Now, I also have a filter for my listview, which loops through the items and marks them as visible or not visible. The problem I have is, the datapager doesn't seem to take into consideration that some items are not visible. So, I end up with page with no visible items on there, as the datapager thinks they still exist (which they essentially do).

I tried using, instead of visible = false, listview.deleteitem(index), but they don't seem to be removed. I can only assume that this is because the listview is rebinding when deleting the item which is essentially readding the items. Using the delete method I did have to add a handler for the deleting function, in which there is no code:

Private Sub lvItems_ItemDeleting ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListViewDeleteEventArgs) Handles lvItems.ItemDeleting End Sub

Forms Data Controls :: Formview Insert Adds All Null Values - Update Doesn't Update Values

Apr 12, 2010

I have a typical gridview/formview master control setup. When I try to update or insert I don't get any errors but it also doesn't work. When I try to insert data all I get are null values and when I update, none of the values are updated. The formview looks like its working, but just doesn't. The primary key is an identity and it auto-increments by one.

DetailsView Update Command Doesn't Update Unless All Of The Fields Are Present?

Nov 16, 2010

I have a page that binds data from DB to a DetailsView.I want to use the auto-generated Update command.

Everything went OK, and also updating was successful, but if I remove any field that I don't want to have chance to update, then the Update command doesn't update! the old values retain!

I mean: if all of the fields are present in the detailsView, the update will be OK, otherwise, the update will NOT update any thing.I've tried to mark the fields that I don't want to view as "Visible = 'false'" but with no good results!

Web Forms :: Putting List Items Into A Textbox

Is there a simple way of putting all list items from a listbox into a textfield? I'm not interested in selecting individual items, I want all items in the box to appear. I'd like the items to appear in the textbox as x, y, z, or x y z. The seperator type / format isn't important as long as long as there is some sort of spacing between each item.

Web Forms :: Removing Items From A List Control?

Jul 19, 2010

I have a list of objects that have values to them. Specifically one of these values if a boolean (isAbnormal) to determine whether or not the value itself is classified by our application logic as "Abnormal" or not.

I have composed a list of a mixture of abnormal/not abnormal items. I want and need to remove items from this list that aren't clsasified as being abnormal (in programming logic, isAbnormal will be false)

I have tried several ways and can think of some dirty/ugly ways to get it, but there has to be something better:

Web Forms :: How To Get List Of VALUES (not Items) From A Dropdownlist

I have a Drop Down List that has some items in it, I have a switch set up that will clear and repopulate the drop down list from a sql server db depending on which item is chosen. When the list is repopulated from a database table I want to use an if statement to do something based on which item is chosen. I've tried to use an if statement but no matter what I try, the code checks the if statement for the original items in the drop down list, not the items that repopulated the drop down list.

SQL Server :: Update Parameter Doesn't Update If Null?

Sep 27, 2010

I have a vb.net page that has an optional parameter. If a user enters data for that field, and clicks save, it saves fine via the stored procedure. HOWEVER, if the user changes their mind, and wants to erase the data they entered, they go to the text field, and delete the characters, and click save, but no matter what, the stored procedure will not save the fact that they erased the data (it won't set it back to NULL). If the user enters a space, the stored procedure will save the space, and if they enter different data, it will save the other data. I can't figure out how to get it back to letting them set it to Null? I think this is because it's an optional parameter, and the stored proc is used by several forms (Some of those forms do not include this parameter), but this form utilizes that optional paramater.

Here's my stored procedure...
