this sound may too easy, but for a person who has no idea about the asp.net is not. I am using visual studio 2008 and I want to add a drop down menu in my page. does any body have any idea how to add this please? The dropdown menu should be linked to a table from an access database since I am going to collect the data with C# therefore I decided to post in in this forum.

But when i go to Design View of the page (for creating the events automatically or for drag/drop any new control from toolbox, I don't want to type everything) the design view only shows the master page! the page controls are complete ignored!

View 4 RepliesSomething happened on my work computer where the Start Page for a website is not saved. I now need to save the start page every time I open a web site project (which is quite annoying).
I have confirmed that this is happening by also seeing that the Property Pages do not retain the setting either. This happens for every web site project as well.
Where and how does .NET 2008 store the start page setting for a web project? I have looked in the solution file, but could not find it there.
I want to have 4 links in the sidebar of master page which every other form (content page) in my web application inherits.

In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.
I have an asp.net project in visual studio 2008I press F5 and the "test page" does not launch and I don't understand why.Looked at the properties for the site and "start action" is correctly set to "use current page"Similar question. assuming it automatically launched above, how does one open a 2nd instance of the current debug site (seems like their ought to be a "launch site" button?edit: I went back and launched VS as admin and it did launch the site. It was working fine for months & i formatted my comp & when i tried to reinstall it is not getting installed !

Every thing i do in the code behind file is saved with out any problem, also if i edit the .aspx file but in sourceview, the changes are saved, but if i drag a control from the toolbox onto the page designer and set some properties and then save, nothing will have been saved when i close and re-open the page, all changes are lost.

I have been working on this project for weeks. Every thing was fine. But all of sudden today, I got this error: Page cannot be displayed when I was trying to debug as usual.
I searched online for solution. Only one solution was found at [URL]. But when I followed its steps, I found in my hosts file, it is already like this: 127.0.0.1 localhost
I cannot continue to work without testing finished form pages.
If VS 2008 and VWD 2008 are both installed on the same machine, will they both use the same Projects folder to keep my projects in?If so, can I open the projects and run them interchangeably with VS2008 and VWD 2008? This is the folder that is located at " User>Documents>Visual Studio 2008>Projects
