View 1 RepliesI have an asp.net app where the user edits a table that generate some reports, and then mails them to his providers.The client wants to edit this pregenerated emails from Outlook.There is no Exchange Server.
Should i let download the reports generated, and then use outlook automation from the client side? Can I generate a (.pst?) file that the user could import using Outlook?
I have a WCF application which reads mails from a pop3 account and deletes them from the inbox after reading it by sending "DELE 1". Now i want to do some change in this functionality. ie instead of deleting the mail from the inbox i want to move it to another folder.
View 2 Replieswhy sometime mail go to spam folder and take lots of time.
View 1 RepliesAnyone know how to do this? Using my own mail server is easy, but in case there's something wrong with it or it ends up on some blacklist, I would like to use the receiver's mail server. There will only be one to: for each mail (it's a validation function to a sign-up).

I have a .net website that I've built but here's the catch - when it's deployed I don't know whether it will be deployed to the root of the site or to a sub folder of a larger site (and it needs to be able to move around between places)
And - here's the important bit - we will have zero access to IIS on the live server so this just has to run straight away.
So far I've managed to find work arounds for things like paths to resources but I now need to use a 3rd party component (.dll).
Normally this would go in the bin folder and, if I run my site in the root of the website it works fine but, as soon as we move the site to a sub folder, the reference to the 3rd party component wont work.
Now - I know normally you'd suggest creating a virtual directory under IIS but remember - I HAVE NO ACCESS TO IIS.
So - is there a way to still use 3rd party components in my project and have my project all run in a sub folder of a website?
And no - I can't move just the bin folder to the root of the site - it all has to sit within its own folder.
I'm new to ASP.NET MVC and i want to create a class to contain site wide functions for my application.what is the best practice to do this?
where should i create the class ? in what folder?should i create a new folder?

I develop a simple file manager inside an ASP.NET Web site (not web application). I notice that every time I rename or delete a folder, the site gets recompiled - i.e. the very next web request after delete or rename operation takes considerably much time to execute.
It's only true for folders, not for files.Why does this occur?
P.S. I use WebDev server (Cassini), haven't tested in on IIS yet.

Why does the gridview put everything in a table?! Is there a way to not have the gridview generate any html what-so-ever and just use what I have in the ItemTemplate?
View 1 RepliesWe have one Asp.net application developed using framework 2.0 with C#,Sql and AJAX. The application is running live from past 2 years almost. All the times users will be facing kind of strange problem, reporting some junk data will be displayed on the browser some times. When they refresh the page or reopen the browser, it will display the correct information.
For Eg. We have a stored procedure which returns months between 2 dates, if we pass 2 dates as '01/04/2010' and '30/06/2010' then procedure will return 'APR,MAY,JUN'.
Once case we have noticed where it has returned and displayed as MAY,JUN,JUL,AUG which is not possible. Once we refresh or reopen the page it displays the correct information.
This is one ex. whereas we have some other page also where we get unwanted values like that.
I am sending Email from SMTP server and all my Emails are landed in Junk in Hotmail ,Live and Yahoo. I am not using any Spam like content and following all the guildline to send Emails.
I check on mail to identify the Issues and found quite a few issues below
1) HELO Greeting Check
Description: Email Server HELO is . HELO greeting does not contain a valid domain. We would recommend to have a valid domain in HELO greeting. Ideally HELO greeting should be the same as Email server host name (in FQDN format).
2) BATV (Bounce Address Tag Validation) Check
Description: Email server is not using BATV format while sending out emails. BATV is recommended to ensure that your users do not become a victim of bounce floods.
3) DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) Check
Description: Email does not contain any DKIM/Domain Keys Signature and the published Domain Keys policy rejects such unsigned emails. Therefore it is very likely that your emails are considered SPAM by Email servers verifying Domain keys. Signing your Outbound emails as per your Domain Keys policy will minimize chances of your Email being considered as SPAM.
I've got webform routing setup on my asp.net webforms 3.5sp1 project. I would like to have the files for the site in a directory called content including the home page as I would like to run multiple sites using the same system. In MVC there is a blank default page and the home page is in a folder called home. I can't seem to replicate this behaviour using web form routing but would like to. The blank page is always hit first. the route handler is hit second - it recognises that the request is for the home page and sets up the routing page but is not used. the route handler code is simple:
public string VirtualPath { get; private set; }
public IHttpHandler GetHttpHandler(RequestContext
requestContext)
{
string file = requestContext.RouteData.GetRequiredString("File");
string id = requestContext.RouteData.GetRequiredString("Id");
string queryString = "?menuid=" + id;
VirtualPath = "~/" + file;
HttpContext.Current.RewritePath(
string.Concat(
VirtualPath,
queryString));
var page = BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath
(VirtualPath, typeof(Page)) as IHttpHandler;
return page;
}
Is there anyway I can do this?
Update
Here is my global.asax route code:
public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes)
{
Domain.RepositoryFactory repo = new RepositoryFactory();
foreach (var x in repo.MenuRepository.GetAllEnabledGetMenus())
{
if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(x.Url))
{
//add default
System.Web.Routing.RouteTable.Routes.Add(
new Route("Default.aspx",
new RouteValueDictionary(new { File = x.FileName,
Id = x.Id.ToString() }),
new CoreRouteHandler()));
}
else
{
string url = x.Url;
if(x.Url.StartsWith("/"))
{
url = url.Remove(0, 1);
}
System.Web.Routing.RouteTable.Routes.Add(
new System.Web.Routing.Route(url,
new RouteValueDictionary(new {File = x.FileName,
Id = x.Id.ToString()}),
new CoreRouteHandler()));
}
}
}
I have my main web site pages in the Root folder. I have several other pages in a subfolder below the Root folder. When I launch a web page that is in the sub folder it does not correctly render the page. For example it loses the gif image that needs to be on every page. Is there something I need to add to the pages in the sub folder or do I need to set the path differently to the master page? Currently it looks like this;
[Code]....
This works for the web pages in the Root folder.
I have a Response filter setup to transform the html before spitting back out to the browser [URL]. This works fine on everyones machine but mine. Actually it was working on my machine until I had to do a hard reset because it locked up.
public override void Write(byte[] buffer, int offset, int count)
{
string strBuffer = System.Text.UTF8Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buffer, offset, count);
For everyone else (and mine previosly) strBuffer contains HTML. Now for whatever reason it's returning junk characters for me.
Update
Turns out that "Enable dynamic content compression" is causing the issue. For some reason it's getting gzipped before being passed into the filter.
Solution
Setting the "dynamicCompressionBeforeCache" to false in the web.config fixed the issue.
<urlCompression doStaticCompression="true" doDynamicCompression="true" dynamicCompressionBeforeCache="false" />
I am trying to write a simple string manipulation on a formula field. Left (string, N) returns junk character but if I hard code N to some numbers it returns proper string like Left(string, 10) returns good;
Left (string, 10) --> returns good stringLeft (string, Instr(string, ">")); --> returns junkX := InStr(string, ">"); Left (string, X); --> returns junkHere is my formula field:
local StringVar temp;
local StringVar temp1;
local NumberVar x;
temp := "<span style='font-size:10pt;font-weight:bold;color:red;'>testing</span>";
x := InStr (temp, ">");
temp := Left (temp, x);
if (1=1) then
temp;
Using Crystal Report.NET 2005
I don't know much about the .Net environment, so my first idea was to just write a console app that scans the folder for new content, and then emails alerts out. Then put the .exe as a scheduled task on the server, executing every few minutes. This seems pretty archaic to me though. Is there a more elegant way to do this for my website?
