C# - Generating A Literal For Each Item In An Item Collection?

Oct 21, 2010

As it stands right now, I have a literal control on my page. In my code-behind, I'm using StringBuilder to generate some JavaScript. Also on that page I have a item collection. What I want to do is for each item in my item collection, generate my literal which will in essence generate my JavaScript. Here is an example of my code-behind now. I'm ok with doing something different, but I just need to generate said JavaScript for every item in the collection and I'm not sure how to do it.

System.Text.StringBuilder sb = new System.Text.StringBuilder();
sb.Append("<script type='text/javascript'>");
sb.Append(""" + _prodID + "",");
sb.Append(""entity.categoryId=" + _categoryID + "",");
sb.Append(""" + _prod.Title + "",");
sb.Append(""entity.pageURL=" + Request.Url.ToString() + "",");
//The following value has been taken from the productImageControl code behind.
//Might have to refactor in future as a property of the image control.
string filename = AppSettingsManager.Current.ProductImagePathLarge + _prod.ActiveProductItemCollection[0].Sku + AppSettingsManager.Current.ProductImageExtension;
sb.Append(""entity.thumbnailURL=" + filename + "",");
sb.Append(""entity.inventory=" + _prod.ActiveProductItemCollection.Count + "",");
sb.Append(""entity.value=" + _prod.ActiveProductItemCollection[0].ActualPrice + "",");
sb.Append(""entity.ProductItemID=" + prodItem.Id + "",");
//The last line has to be /script. < inserted on prev line. do not change it or bad things will happen.
//add script to page
this.LiteralMBoxScript.Text = sb.ToString();

Where Can I Find The CSS Behind Standard .net Controls

Sep 8, 2010

So for example, I have a lovely button control:

<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" />

Which when renders, is a lovely dull grey, nice and rectangular, etc, etc.

I know I can apply a new CSSClass to amend the CSS of said control, but where can I find the original CSS properties for this?

C# - Get Item From Collection By Unique ID

Apr 27, 2010

I have a collection of Contacts that inherits from CollectionBase:

public class ContactCollection : CollectionBase{

each contact in the collection has a unique ID:

public class Contact{
public int ContactID{
private set;

I think what I would like to do is something like the following:

// get the contact by their unique [Contact]ID
Contact myPerson = Contact.GetContactById(15);
// get all contacts for the customer
ContactCollection contacts = customer.GetContacts();
// replaces the contact in the collection with the
// myPerson contact with the same ContactID.
// saves the changes to the contacts and the customer
// customer.Save();

View 3 Replies - Add An Item To The Collection The Listbox Is Not Updated?

Jan 9, 2011

There are quite a few questions around this topic,but I can't seem to get it figured out.I'm trying to bind a listbox to an ObservableCollection and keep the listbox updated when items are added to the collection.

Beyond this, I have a simple textbox and button on a page.When a name is entered into the textbox,and the button is clickedI call the addBlog(passing in name from textbox) sub routine in the ITRSBlogs Class (back up the page a bit) to add the item to the collection.Problem is,when I add an item to the collection,the listbox is not updated.I'm new to Observable Collections (and many other things : ),so maybe I'm just really off here.

Forms Data Controls :: Trying To Find SelectedItem In Collection?

Apr 13, 2010

I've been pulling my hair out over this one... I've searched on the net and even in the forums, but can't seem to come up with an answer for a simple question.I tried the following code inside my html to get the selected value that comes from our database into the grid and it doesn't work. I am positive that a value exists for the itemType. It is 1. Instead of Checked, I tried SelectedItem and SelectedIndex. Neither of those worked.

Checked='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "itemType")%>'

I erased the above code from my grid and inside the ItemDataBound event, I placed the following code, but don't know what other code I should place next after it. I know the value inside "itemType" is 1 by debugging it.

RadioButtonList itmtype = e.Item.FindControl("rblItemType") as RadioButtonList;

How can I simply find the selecteditem in the list coming back from the database inside the itemdatabound event?

I suppose it is impossible to remove an item from the collector when you are looping.

MembershipUserCollection users = Membership.GetAllUsers();
foreach (MembershipUser x in users)
if (!Roles.IsUserInRole(x.UserName, "CMS-AUTHOR"))

Error: Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute.

Pass An Enity-framework Table/collection As A Parameter Into A Function (

Dec 7, 2010

Is this possible?

using (Entities db = new Entities())
LoadDropDownList(ddlFirst, db.MyTable , (bool)(myMember.Id == 0), (int)myMember.RevenueRangeID);
LoadDropDownList(ddlSecond, db.OtherTable , (bool)(myMember.Id == 0), (int)myMember.OtherID);

I am stumbling on what the type of the second parameter should be - I am essentially trying to pass in the Entity-Framework 'table' into a generic routine that loads the DropDownList with data from the 'MyTable' table using custom logic/filtering.SInce I do the same thing about 6 times for 6 different dropdownlist/table combos I wanted to use a generic function to accomplish this.

How To Show Collection Of Data Inside One Row Of The GrdiView

Oct 24, 2010

I have a scenario where I will be showing a Customer data in a GridView. I have a Dictionary collection like this IDictionary<Customer, IList<CustomerOrder>>.

First Question Can I bind this dictionary to the ASP.Net GridView?

Now next question, I want to show following kind of UI i.e. Show multiple CustomerOrders in one row of Customer.

FName LastName OrderNumber MarkOrderCompleted(RadioButton)
ABC DEF 123 Radio Buttons Yes No
345 Radio Buttons Yes No
678 Radio Buttons Yes No
GHI JKL 213 Radio Buttons Yes No
546 Radio Buttons Yes No
768 Radio Buttons Yes No

FName and LastName would be populated from Customer object inside the Dictionary and OrderNumber and MarkOrderCompleted would be populated from CustomerOrders. Below all thre is a submit button, which saves the radion buton status values to the database against the Order.

.net - String Exists In A Collection Stored In .Net Session State?

Jan 8, 2010

I have an ASP.Net app that retrieves a collection of roles for a given user. Each role is a string. There's rarely more than 2-3 roles for any one person.I wanted to store the colelction of roles in Session state to save the time accessing the DB on each request.I basically want to write code that checks if a given string exists in the collection to test if the user has that role or not.My question is...what's the best way to do this? Is an array the best collection to store the role strings in Session with? Or is a dictionary better? I figure an array will take less memory (I don't really need a key + value) although a dictionary might lookup faster.
