When I run the application using the Web Developer it works fine. However when I run it using local IIS I get the following error:

How can I test an application that I am publishing to a remote provider's IIS7 hosted site, with the VS2008 development server that is built in with VS2008 on an XP Machine?
My membership/roles work perfectly up on the remote host. On ths hosted IIS7 site when I try to access a secure directory it redirects to login, and I am able to login, however when I launch (debug - F5) from VS2008, it will provide that folder/resource, no questions asked. Same build, config, etc... nothing has changed.
I am running XP, and local IIS version installed is 5.1.
My guess is what is happening is that the new format required in the web.config is configured properly for IIS7 deployment, which is why it works remotely, but when running locally through VS2008/XP it is running with an older version on IIS and does not recoginize the new tags.
I created a website using VS2010. When I run the website using built-in web server, everything works fine. The website recognizes javascript and aurigma uploader. When I publish the website to local folder and tried to access using IIS 5.1 on local pc, the java scipt files did not work. I was getting yellow triangle sign at the bottom of the page indicating the object is expected. I tried to look online but i could not find any answer. I have included jquery and javascript file in the header section of master
I have an MVC web application, the urls like following in my views folder:
<img src="../../Images/Delete.png"/>
are working on my localhost, but when I deployed the application on production server, they stopped working and when I use single ".." instead of double "../.." , they start working on production server.
Is there a way to view incoming requests to a local ASP.NET development server? I'm making wcf service calls from a android app to a local development server. Something goes wrong somewhere along the way, and I need to view what data the server recieves.
Edit: The android app is local too... in an emulator.
can anyone point me to some differences hosting a website on some remote server VS running it locally on dev environment.The reason why i am asking is, If I run my website locally it works fine no exceptions, runs smooth. But when deployed on a remote hosting server. Its like a nightmare to me :(very often i get object Instance not set to instance of object..... I am ok with the error message, But the same situation should happen locally, thats what bothering me:D
Problem: I need to move a local development database to the production server without any of the test data.
I am running SQL Server Express 2008 and SQL Server Management Studio 2008.
To create my ASP.NET Membership 2.0 system I created the DB initialy and ran aspnet_regsql.exe
I then added my own tables manually to store additional information.
I adjusted the web.config file with an application name.
When I ran a sript the application ID name was created and populated in the aspnet_Applications table. My script created a new member created and added to the admin role. Ok so everything go so far.
Now I want to move the local DB to the server. I know the connection string and can change this in the web.config.
My hosting company doesn't provide restore, so I don't think I can backup and restore
Q 1. What would be the best way to move the database across. Bearing in mind I need to clean the database out of test data.
Would it be just generate an SQL Script for the database and run it as a query on the server? And if this is the best way then do I need to set the permissions for the ASPNET user?
Q 2. What is the best way to clear out the data in the local database.?
I want to copy a database on a development server to my local server. I am not the server administrator but I have rights to the database. Soon after the wizard Executes the SQL Server Agent Job it fails and the error message says:
The job failed. Check the event log on the destination server for details.
Where do I find this log? Also what could be the problem?
It somethimes happens that, when I use PrinceXML to convert a webpage to a pdf, the local ASP.NET Development Server stops working...It popups the message "ASP.NET Development Server stops has stopped working"
How do I get the smtp server address for the local machine? I want to my email address on a windows form and have the user send me an email and I need to be able to get their smtp server address programatically to do this. I tried this:
System.Net.Mail. SmtpClient smtpc = new SmtpClient("127.0.0.1"); smtpc.Send(email);
Is There Any Way or trick to generate local resource for all pages in visual studio 2010 automatically? I have about 500 pages and UserControls. its hard to generate resource for every page one by one.
I have created a webpage called server.aspx and the related local resource file called server.aspx.resx. In the resourcefile I defined the message "{0} is required." with the key Error.
I am using VS.Net to do a localiztion project, it allows me to create a resource file by going to Tools->Generate Local Resource. However the resouce file generated is not complete in my opinion. Say the following html:
[Code]....
the wizard creates an entry for "Last Name", but not "First Name", is this by design? If yes, how do I work around that?
I am having an issue when attempting to override the DisplayNameAttribute in ASP.NET MVC to provide a localized string. The code itself is straightforward and similar to that in another Stackoverflow post link text
The code works for global resources but not so well for local resources. I have a registration screen and used the Visual Studio "Generate Local Resource" command to create my local resource file. The generated file is named Registration.aspx.resx and the App_LocalResources folder is created relative to the actual Registration.aspx page - as one would expect.
However, when I attempt to get the localized string using:
ResourceManager.GetString(resourceKey)
I receive the following error message.
Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "FullAssemblyName.Views.Account.App_LocalResources.Registration_aspx.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "FullAssemblyName" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed.
Using reflector, I can see that the file is actually Registration.aspx.resources and not Registration_aspx.resources - the underscore/period being the subtle difference
I have toyed with the code quite a bit but no matter what I do, the file being requested is always different than that copiled in the assembly. For instance, if i rename Registration_aspx (in the generated Registration.aspx.designer.cs class i get the same error but this time the path is "...App_LocalResources.Registrationaspx.resources"
Has anyone run into this? Is there any way I can ensure that the resource found in my assembly has this underscore?
I am new to the asp .net (c#) technology.I got an assignment to work on a existing C# project which is alreay live and working.I have downloaded all the code files from the given FTP server on my local server.My Local Server Environment Details :OS - WinXP.NET Framework Version - 2.0 ( There are different versions on the machine i.e. 1.0,1.1,2.0,3.0,3.5 but through IIS i have enabled 2.0 because the application is developed in 2.0)Visual Studio - 2003 In the downloaded source code i did not found any solution file to open the project in Visual Studio , So i created the new project and by using the add existing elements i added all the project files to the newly created project.Am i doing right way.Will my application will work when i will upload the code on live server because the solution file would have mylocal machine configuration.Suggest me how can i proceed in long term vision so that in future i do not face any problem during application release.
while running my aspx pages on local iis 5.1 of my system, it doesnot shows the images and also when i tried to login with the same credentials that i was using with visual studio2005 it always give me error of wrong credentials
I need to create both local and global resource file in VB.NET. And also i need to use both resource file in a single page. how to create and use in VB.NET (VS2008).
Why when I generate local resource does it check out the web.config. I've done a comparison after the process has completed and the web.config hasnt changed.I'm using TFS 2010 Basic.It's not a big issue but I would be interested if anyone knows the answer.
I am experienced php developer and I have everything setup for design/development/testing etc and I can develop locally on my machine using wamp. My question is, what should I be looking into for setting up a professional local development environment for developing web applications?
I have an Azure application that works perfectly on every one of my colleagues machines. On mine, the web application works, but not the azure project, which runs on the local development fabric.
I'm getting a 403 error, which causes a blank page in Chrome. The application_start method gets fired and sets up the routes, but the actual MVC controller never gets called. Again, this works perfect if I run the web application directly. If I use that same azure project and deploy it online, it also works fine.
I've tried repairing visual studio, reinstalling Azure, rebooting, re-fetching source, you name it.
I have created a virtual directory in IIS(7.0) to create web application using visual studio 2010 ultimate edition. But when i open the Browse option in visual studio to create http hosted website , it vs2010 keeps on teling me that i need to have IIS Component installed. below is the eror message;
To access local IIS websites, you must install the follwoing IIS components
You must run Visual studio in the context of an administrator account. For more information, press F1
NB:i have installed the IIS 7.0 and its running fine
