I'm creating a web application using asp.net & WCF as 3 tier architecture, which is mostly looks like a social website. Users can register with the system and they can upload their profile images, documents, video clips etc. So, what i want to know is what is the best way to store those files? In the wcf side or web application side ?
Also I want to know that, if i choose web application side to store those files as set of folders, how it makes those folders shared and allow access to another different project (such as a desktop client need to upload files into that shared folder) ?
Where is the best place to store a javascript file in my website?
Should they be stored in the App_Code folder allong with C# files or should I create a dedicated folder in the root of the website? Or are there any other options?
how to store files (pdf and word files) into sql database and how to display that files with an option of "save" , "open" window from sql data base when user click. i am doing project using c# + asp.net web application
My asp.net app has file upload capability, I need to store uploaded files (ie. .tar, .zip, .doc, tif .. etc) into a dataset before they being stored into mysql db..
in my system folder(E:\santhu) i have flat files(.txt and .doc ) .my problem is how to read those files automatically one by one and store the data(records) in to database?
I'm creating an Excel file in C# on my asp.net web site. Then, I want to save this file somewhere within the web server's files, and send that file to the browser for the user to download. I've got it working on my local system in the dev environment, but I'm not getting the file addressing right. How can I store a file in "~ParentFolderSubFolderfile.ext". Then send that file to the browser for user download.
String outputFile = Utilities.writeToExcelFile("", MapPath(@"~ReportFilesTempFilesDropShipData.xls"), table); DownloadFile(outputFile); public void DownloadFile(string fname) { string path = fname; string name = Path.GetFileName(path); string ext = Path.GetExtension(path); string type = ""; // set known types based on file extension if (ext != null) { switch (ext.ToLower()) { case ".htm": case ".html": case ".aspx": case ".asp": type = "text/HTML"; break; case ".xls": case ".xlsx": case ".csv": type = "Application/x-msexcel"; break; case ".pdf": type = "Application/pdf"; break; case ".txt": type = "text/plain"; break; case ".doc": case ".docx": case ".rtf": type = "Application/msword"; break; } } Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + name); if (type != "") Response.ContentType = type; Response.WriteFile(path); Response.End(); }
Again, this works fine on my local pc, but when I move it to the server I get an error for accessing the path. And the path listed in the error code is NOT where I want the file to go.
I am new to asp.net mvc. I am trying to create a form which has about 5 input file controls, when a user clicks on Browse button and selects a file, I would like to send the filepath and the button id to server through javascript/jquery and verify whether the path of the file is correct if so change the color of a checkbox on the form. I would like to do this without form submission as I have multiple files all I want to do just verify the path and not really upload the path.
I am creating a video database .. User will upload his video.. I know the path will be store in database and video on hard disk .. How video will upload, path are set, and if possible video is downloaded.. I am not creating online streaming .. Just upload and download ..
I have a problem only in IE where my JQuery filetree cannot be refreshed unless the browser is closed, or temporary internet files is deleted via Tools -> Internet Options
Anyone know of a way so that this particular page never gets cached into temp internet files?
I've tried putting this in the header
[Code]....
As described here: [URL]
Nothing seems to work :
Preferably a solution for both IE8 and IE6 (yes i still have to support that goddamned browser)
My website is made up of .aspx pages. On some pages, an email gets programmatically sent, and I find it most convenient to have.html email templates (which I can edit in Visual Studio) which I load and manipulate programmatically, and then send as the body of an email. The html files are never displayed to users on the site.At the moment, I store these emails in an Email subdirectory of App_LocalResources, as this seemed like the logical place to put them.
But whenever I update an email on my IIS 6 server, then the IIS server shuts down and restarts, stating: Shutdown Message: Change Notification for critical directories. App_LocalResources dir change or directory rename HostingEnvironment initiated shutdown Change Notification for critical directories. App_LocalResources dir change or directory rename HostingEnvironment caused shutdown.
I don't want to restart my webserver every time (and lose session information) any time I change one of my email templates.
So where is the best suggested location for storing these .html files, as part of the project?
I have one textbox in this text box we will give movie name ,one file upload control this is for browse the mp3 files
after typing the movie name in the textbox, in solution explorer one folder has to create dynamically with the movie name given textbox and that movie name has to store in the database then using fileupload control we will browse the mp3 files that songs has to store in the folder specified by movie name then this songs path has to stores in the database according to movie name ...
I have an entity called a file which is the main part of my project. The file has invoices and timesheets captured against it. So I have a file tab with info about the file, like FileNumber, Vessedl, Voyage etc. Now I need to be able to upload documents for the file. So I will add an uploads tab. But the uploaded documents need to be saved for the specified file the user uploads it for. then when a user opens a file I need to show the documents for that file in a list of some sort. the best way to do this. What's the best way to upload multiple files? should I store all the info in my database?
my problem is my asp.net and C#.net application should read flat files(.txt,.doc) from folder automatically and read the data from file and stored into database
my file like this :
BNK20100312APPHU6658994 // BNK,20100312(date),Ap,PHU6658994 So we have to store these.. BNK20100312APPRU5104220 BNK20100312APPRU5761800 BNK20100312APPZU3739288 BNK20100312APPZU4454037 BNK20100312APESU2552894 BNK20100312APAXU4302543 BNK20100312APCKU1613369
We are going to develop a website where we need to store large number of files. The file size may be uptp 50 MB. What approach should we follow:
1) We should store files in Database 2) We should have a directory and store all the files in that 3) We should hire a SAN Storage and use this seperate location to store the files.
I have a project where I need to create a folder type view which will show a list of files, and the description of them to the user when they navigate to the website.
I have a project at work where I need different versions of the same site.
I need to accomplish this by having different versions of the same resource files.
I would like to store the different versions of the same resource files in seperate projects in the same solution. Then choose which project of resource files to use when I publish or compile.
I've been searching the net everywhere and my deadline is coming up.
We have an ASP.NET 3.5 Web application in which we have faced the below issue:
The application is working fine but suddently at one point application URL prompts for the authentication. When we (the support team) checked the server, we were able to identify that the access was denied for some of the main files (like web.config, default page). When we enabled the access the application started working fine.
i've got some problem reading excel files to store into sqlserver database. currently my code has a fileupload control and a button for me to save the excel file into a folder and read the data inside the excel file and write it into the sql database. The code works only if the excel sheet name is Sheet1.xlsx, however i tried upload a diff file named ImportUserFile.xlsx and it gave me the exception below. 'ImportUserFile$' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long. i have also tried other file names and it seemed only Sheet1.xlsx works.
