Application_BeginRequest Doesn't Fire In Web Service

Jun 30, 2010

I created a web service on localhost, and I tried to call it from a web app (also on the localhost) via HttpWebRequest, but Application_BeginRequest in Global.asax didn't fire. When I type in IE 'http://localhost:8010/Test/' (the web service) Application_BeginRequest fires. Where is the problem? How can I test a localhost web service from a page which is also on localhost?

Web Forms :: Global.asax Application_BeginRequest Doesn't Work On Server?

Jun 11, 2010

I want to protect one file in a subdirectory with Global.asax. (I know that this isn't the conventional way of going about this) but it works on my computer and not on the server.I have a global.asax file in my root dir and Application_BeginRequest checks if the user is requesting a particular file. If they are logged in, it allows access. If they are not logged in they are redirected to the default page.My problem is this: My code works on my personal computer but does not work on the server. Do I have to configure a setting in the web.config or adjust something on the server? Code:

Sub Application_BeginRequest(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim fullOrigionalpath As String = Request.Url.ToString.ToLower
'PROTECTED FILE
If fullOrigionalpath.Contains("/uploads/groups.xls") Then
If HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated = False Then Response.Redirect("~/login.aspx")
End If
End Sub

Web Forms :: Button Doesn't Fire On First Click?

Dec 16, 2010

im using an update panel and my web form consists of textboxs and combo box, my problem is that when i click the button save for the first time, my page simply postbacks and the event save wouldnt fire, click it the second time and poof save will execute.. I notice that it is caused by my dropdown box and textbox autopostback function, i need to set this to true since i need to execute another function that will disable the dropdown when the textbox is filled and vice versa,set this to false and save will function normally..any ideas how to fix this?

here is the code for that.

<asp:DropDownList
ID="ddNewLocation"
runat="server"
Width="95%"
AutoPostBack="true"
AppendDataBoundItems="True"
onselectedindexchanged="ddNewLocation_SelectedIndexChanged">
<asp:TextBox
ID="txtNewLocation"

Width="90%"
AutoPostBack="true"
ontextchanged="txtNewLocation_TextChanged"></asp:TextBox>

C# - Custom Control Doesn't Fire Validation

Jun 4, 2010

I've written a custom ASP.net control that descends from LinkButton and overrides the Render() method. I'm using it to replace ImageButtons in the site I'm working on so we don't have to have an image for each button. This control works fine, does the required post-backs etc., however it doesn't fire the validators in its validation group. This is obviously an issue. The code for the control is (condensed) as follows:

using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web;
using System.Web.UI;
using System.Web.UI.WebControls;

public class CustomButton : LinkButton
{
public string SpanCssClass { get; set; }
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer)
{
if (!Visible)
{
return;
}
writer.AddAttribute(HtmlTextWriterAttribute.Name, UniqueID);
writer.AddAttribute(HtmlTextWriterAttribute.Id, ClientID);
writer.AddAttribute(HtmlTextWriterAttribute.Class, CssClass);
string postback = string.IsNullOrEmpty(OnClientClick) ? "javascript:__doPostBack('" + UniqueID + "','');" : OnClientClick;
writer.AddAttribute(HtmlTextWriterAttribute.Href, postback);
writer.RenderBeginTag(HtmlTextWriterTag.A);
writer.AddAttribute(HtmlTextWriterAttribute.Class, SpanCssClass);
writer.RenderBeginTag(HtmlTextWriterTag.Span);
writer.Write(Text);
writer.RenderEndTag();
writer.RenderEndTag();
}
}

Does anyone know why this would not be causing the validators to fire? I was under the impression that leaving all the other methods in LinkButton un-overridden would leave all the other functionality the same.

C# - Button's OnClick Event Doesn't Fire

Nov 28, 2010

The following code is my ASP.NET page :

<MdsMenu:MenuItem Text="Button" Href="#">
<asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button 01" OnClick="Button_Click" />
<asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button 02" OnClick="Button_Click" />
</MdsMenu:MenuItem>

I don't know why Button_Click event doesn't fire!

protected void Button_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Button senderButton = sender as Button;
Label1.Text = senderButton.ID.ToString();
}

MdsMenu:MenuItem is my custom WebControl. If I insert a Button control out of MdsMenu:MenuItem tag it works well but if I inserted it within MdsMenu:MenuItem tag it doesn't fire the concerned method. What's wrong with my code?

Uncheched RadioButtonList Doesn't Fire SelectedIndexChanged?

Apr 4, 2011

I have a RadioButtonList with some fixed element and a default selected. If I uncheck the selection with javascript, on postback the SelectedIndexChanged event is not fired.

I would expect that the SelectedIndexChanged is called because the index is changed to -1.

this is the Asp.Net code

<asp:RadioButtonList ClientIDMode="Static" ID="RadioButtonList1" runat="server"
onselectedindexchanged="RadioButtonList1_SelectedIndexChanged">
<asp:ListItem Value="1" Selected="True"></asp:ListItem>
<asp:ListItem Value="2"></asp:ListItem>
</asp:RadioButtonList>

and the jquery code

$('#RadioButtonList1 :radio:visible').attr('checked', false);

As far as I know, the stage of data collection from the submit of the form is handled by IPostBackDataHandler.LoadPostData method.

I derived a class from RadioButtonList to verify when LoadPostData is called and I noticed that when non of the radio button is selected the method is not called and the same for SelectedIndexChanged event.

it seems that if the key of RadioButtonList is not present in the Page.Request.Form.Keys array, the LoadPostData is not called.

C# - HttpHandler Fire Only If File Doesn't Exist?

Feb 15, 2010

I'm trying to create a HTTP handler to handle all requests to a folder but I only want it to fire if the files requested don't exist (EG: Request comes in for file X, if X exists I'd like to serve the file, otherwise the handler should deal with it).The files will only be static content, not scripts themselves, which I assume makes it a bit easier but I can't seem to find anything that will do the trick... Anyone have any ideas? I assume it can be done since the IIS7 rewrite module can manage it, but I can't see how...Edit Just to clarify... the handler is the typical case and it is not an error-handling routine but actually delivering appropriate content. I just want the ability to add new files to the folder either as separate things or as overloads to what the handler would deliver.

JavaScript Function Doesn't Fire Because Of CSS Styling

Aug 20, 2012

I am creating a menu at runtime, containing this:

Code:
dividor3 = "<td onmouseover=""shomainlinks()"" style=""z-index:13001; font-weight:bold; width:10; vertical-align:center; color:rgb(180,30,40);"">»</td>"

The menu (there are other string components as well) is then added to a div as a literalcontrol.

Code:
<div id="mainlinks" class="tpsubmenu" runat="server" style="z-index:13000;"></div>

Everything works. But when I assign a css class to the div, the shomainlinks() function doesn't fire. Otherwise it does.

Code:
.tpsubmenu{position:absolute; display:none; width:300px; border:1px solid rgb(200,140,80); background-color:rgb(250,250,250);}

I should also tell you that I have another string, dividor4, identical but for the name of the function that does not have css styling, and that one works as it should.

What could i possibly do wrong, to achieve this?

C# - ItemCommand Event Doesn't Fire With The Repeater Control?

Feb 21, 2011

I am building a website whereby people, before checking out of the shopping cart (and transferring to the payment iframe) can select which items from the shopping cart list to delete. The results from the shopping card are listed in a Repeater control. There is a Button in the Repeater which deletes a record from the database (used LINQ to SQL to do that.)

THe problem is that the ItemCommand event doesn't fire when i click the button. I tried 'response.write(test)' and it still would not work. It is as if the repeater cannot interact with the commands. It does render the results tho.

Here's the code:

For some reason the first time I click this button, the code is beeing fired. When login credentials are wrong, a message shows up. THen, the user inserts the right credentials. After clicking the 'cmdLogin' button, nothing happens and the old (wrong) values are beeing filled in inside the textboxes. This behaviour occured to me after switching to ASP.NET 4.0.

AJAX :: Cascading Dropdown SelectedIndexChanged Doesn't Fire

Jun 11, 2010

I just wanted to clarify if selectedIndexChanged works on ajax cascading dropdowns as mine doesn't fire. Its in a user control inside an accordion pane. I've read conflicting things about this. All I want to do is check that the last of the 3 cascading dropdowns has been populated an enable a button if so.... but the event never fires when i make a selection on the last dropdown. If it isn't suppose to fire is there a way to raise an event when the selection is made and unmade (as when you change one of the other dropdowns the value resets and the buttton needs to be disabled.
