View 2 RepliesI am grabbing data from a peoplepicker control (sharepoint) that compiles users into a string. For instance, if the user added 3 users, the string would look like: John Doe CONTOSOjdoe User Jane Doe CONTOSOjadoe User John Smith CONTOSOjsmith User I want to use Split with"User" as the delimiter. Since the delimiter is 2+ characters I'm getting the error: too many characters in character literal. Tried to specify User as the delimter like:
string peoplePicker = group1.ToString();
char[] delimiterChars = {'User'};
string[] people = peoplePicker.Split(delimiterChars);
How should I split a string separated by a multi-character delimiter in VB?
i.e. If my string is say - Elephant##Monkey, How do I split it with "##" ?
I'm writing a banking system and my customer wants support both Russian and American numeric standards in decimal digits delimiter. Respectively . and ,.Now only , works properly. Perhaps because of web server's OS format (Russian is set).String like 2000.00 throws a FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.How to fix that? I have next two ideas:
protected void FormView1_ItemInserting(object sender, FormViewInsertEventArgs e)
{
var txtAmount = (TextBox)((FormView)sender).FindControl("txtAmount"));
[code]...
I'm trying to override the UniqueID attribute of an HtmlInputRadioButton. I'm extending the HtmlInputRadioButton class and using the code below:

But the rendered radio button tag looks like this:

i am trying to set UniqueID for a hidden field control .its throwing me error The 'UniqueID' property is read-only and cannot be set. How to solve this issue ??my code
<asp:HiddenField ID="hSequence" runat="server" UniqueID="hSequence" />
I have a column with a random length of text, basically it's an old crappy mfg system that stores data in a tilde delimited list. I need to output this column into each seperate column for a view. Column names don't matter, they can all be unnamed but so long as the data returns as seperate columns is what I'm after.
[Code]....
I'm creating composite control, which has two other components that rely on each other.
In component A (image), I access component's B (input) UniqueID which equals
MyTextBox1$BoldTextBox
I use it in onclick JavaScript code...
But in rendered HTML input element has following id
MyTextBox1_BoldTextBox
So my javascript code , generated inside composite control has something like this:
onclick=$('#MyTextBox1$BoldTextBox').....
instead of:
onclick=$('#MyTextBox1_BoldTextBox').....
I like to know how to get the ClientID/UniqueID of a control inside a Detailsview controls EditItemTemplate element and when DetailsViews changing to Edit mode and DetailsView is inside a AJAX UpdatePanel. Without UpdatePanel, during PostBack I can get the ClientID's control, but now with an UpdatePanel.
[Code]....
As you see, the EditItemTemplate contains a Checkbox control. So i'm trying to get the ClientID of this checkbox when Detailsview is changing to the Edit mode. I need this value for handling Javascript.
Catching the events ChangingMode/ChangedMode doesn't work; chkbox is null:
[Code]....
Maybe i'm using the wrong event? Someone can give me a tip about this?
When trying to edit the word before the delimiter the service method is not even called in IE but works fine in Chrome.
As an example, while '$' is set as a delimiter;
$csAux.Value$csNeedsPO.Valu
Now, editting the word
csNeedsPO => the autocomplete populates as expected succesfully.
csAux.Value => doesnT trigger the method in the background.
i importing excel data into mssql with ,(comma) delimiter

rafi frankstreet , chennai
below code execute successfully
name address
rafi frankstreet chennai
I have several text boxes in an asp:Panel. When the user hits Enter from any of those boxes, I want the form to submit as if they've clicked btnAddTag. (When the cursor is not in those boxes, I have a different default submit button.)
The aspx:
<asp:Panel id="thePanel" runat="server">
<asp:Button ID="btnAddTag" Text="Add Tag" runat="server" />
</asp:Panel>
The vb:
tagPanel.DefaultButton = btnAddTag.UniqueID
The exception:
The DefaultButton of 'tagPanel' must be the ID of a control of type IButtonControl.
The value of btnAddTag.UniqueID is ctl00$phMain$btnAddTag (there's a master page, this section is called phMain).
I've also tried CType(tagPanel.FindControl("btnAddTag"), Button).UniqueID.
so i have a FormView bound to an SQL datasource.
Using the Auto generated insert/update/delete. "Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'UniqueID'"
The FormView Default view = Edit
I have set the PKey and the Datasource is loading the record from a session. The record is loading no problem, just wont update.
I have added some combobox and texboxes in gridview dynamically to provide the data entry like operations.i have fetched and reset the value of these dynamically added controls on button click as ->

</asp:Calendar> [code].....
i want to call the event handler for the dropdownlist - selectedIndexchanged and i have added it also like this

View 5 RepliesI have a custom DDL that lives in my Server control library. Currently I add this control to a table by strongly typing the name of the control, the customary way.
Control_Library.Report_NumberDDL newDDL = new Control_Library.Report_NumberDDL();
What I want to be able to do is dynamically create that control by pulling the control name from a table. So I would have the name of the control in my code, in this case "Report_NumberDDL", and I would like to then create the control without having to strongly type it.
Something like this, though I know this doesn't work:
string controlName = "Report_NumberDDL";
Control_Library."controlName" controlNum1 = new Control_Library."controlName"();
Edit:I tried to do this:
Type type = Type.GetType("Control_Library.Report_NumberDDL");
object control = Activator.CreateInstance(type);
But on the CreateInstance(type) I get a null value exception. So the Type isn't getting created correctly.
i'm trying to develop a ASP.Net control. If it based on System.Web.UI.Control id doesn't work correctly with Ajax.Net updatePanel. If I change it to System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl the it works fine with Ajax controls. What is the difference between them and how I implement it on Control based Control?
View 2 Replies I have several checkbox controls on my web form that are not server controls (runat="server") How can I access these controls form my C# code? Can this be done with document.GetelementById from the server side using C#? Or some other technique?
I am not allowed to make these server controls (runat=server) because of a requirement.
ive created my own custom control, now in the code behind of the custom control file i can add Name.Click += new EventHandler(name); but on the codebehind of the page where ive used the custom control i cannot, is there anyway i can regsiter it as an available attribute to add? my code below and on the image the test codebehind click is not available, how can i get it?

If a composite server control normally encapsulate styling information inside, it is an example of code encapsulation and modularization. However if css properties are included inside the composite control, it is not ideal for code/styling separation and css code re-use principles. Now which consideration should be the main consideration?
View 2 RepliesI have a custom control that is based off the gridview control located at: here The control is basically a gridview that automatically creates a column of checkboxes that can be used to "check" individual rows in the gridview. During the gridview's "CreateColumns" event, the "checkboxcolumn" is created dynamically. The checkboxcolumn also contains another checkbox in the header that is used to "select/deselect all" checkboxes in the column. Since the gridview does not automatically remember the state of the checkboxes in the checkboxcolumn on postback, I added a method to the control called "SaveCheckBoxState" which stores the indexes of the checked rows in Viewstate, and then I modified the "OnRowDataBound" event to check the Viewstate and reset the checkboxes based on the Viewstate.
I then added a call to "SaveCheckBoxState" in the gridview's OnSorting and OnPageIndexChanging events. This works great so long as I'm sorting or changing pages. However, I need it to update the viewstate everytime someone clicks or unclicks one of the checkboxes. At this time, the checkboxes are rendered with an onclick event that calls some javascript to highlight the row, or in the case of the checkbox in the header, to select/deselect all checkboxes. I need to call the "SaveCheckBoxState" method from the javascript used by the customcontrol, or I need to find a way to modify viewstate from javascript and perform the same action as "SaveCheckBoxState".
I've tried adding the "SaveCheckBoxState" to the onclick event declaration in the checkboxes, but when run, it simply tells me that the method is undefined. It doesn't exist in the parent page, and I don't think I should have to make an event for the parent page to pass the click to. It seems to me this should be all self contained within the custom control. Does anyone know how I can acheive this? Here is the code for the gridview OnPreRender event where the onclick event of the checkbox is set:
protected override void OnPreRender(EventArgs e)
{
// Do as usual
base.OnPreRender(e);
// Adjust each data row
foreach (GridViewRow r in Rows)
{
// Get the appropriate style object for the row
TableItemStyle style = GetRowStyleFromState(r.RowState);
// Retrieve the reference to the checkbox
CheckBox cb = (CheckBox)r.FindControl(InputCheckBoxField.CheckBoxID);
// Build the ID of the checkbox in the header
string headerCheckBoxID = String.Format(CheckBoxColumHeaderID, ClientID);
// Add script code to enable selection
cb.Attributes["onclick"] = String.Format("ApplyStyle(this, '{0}', '{1}', '{2}')",
SelectedRowStyle.CssClass,
style.CssClass,
headerCheckBoxID);
// Update the style of the checkbox if checked
if (cb.Checked)
{
r.BackColor = SelectedRowStyle.BackColor;
r.ForeColor = SelectedRowStyle.ForeColor;
r.Font.Bold = SelectedRowStyle.Font.Bold;
}
else
{
r.BackColor = style.BackColor;
r.ForeColor = style.ForeColor;
r.Font.Bold = style.Font.Bold;
}
}
}
I don't think I understand fully how ASP.NET does inheritance of controls.I have a user control, ucBase, which has an asp.net label in the ascx file. Code behind references the label and it works fine during run time if the control is not a parent for another user parent.
If I have another user control, ucChild, inheriting from ucBase, the label in ucBase's code is always null. ucChild has no controls in its ascx fileThe server controls (like the label) needs to be declared in the ascx file and not created programmatically.What needs to be done for ucBase to see its own controls when it's a parent user control?
I need to create a reusable custom control,which is like a form containing a listbox and some fields.The fields can be either textbox or combobox as needed for different applications,which can be selected on the property of the form onwhich page that i am using it,also i needed to specify the number of fields in that property.And also need place 3 buttons below for edit and delete the selected item in the listbox and a button to save.Data will be binded from the database as needed for different applications.
tell me with code how to create it using asp.net server control in C#.
I have 3 panels:
<asp:Panel ID="ParentPanel" runat="server">
<asp:Panel ID="AnnoyingPanel" runat="server">
<asp:Panel ID="P" runat="server">
</asp:Panel>
</asp:Panel>
</asp:Panel>
How can I check if P is child of ParentPanel? Is there some LINQish way to do it?
Is there some more optimized way than the one I provided? Maybe using Linq?
