.net - Urlrewriting.net Map All Classic Asp Requests To Default.aspx?

Mar 24, 2011

I'm using urlrewriting.net and want to add a rule to map all classic asp requests to default.aspx.Unfortunately my attempt below just results in a redirect loop, so I must be doing something wrong.

<add name="LegacyRedirect"
virtualUrl="^~/(.*).asp"
redirectMode="Permanent"
redirect="Application"
destinationUrl="~/default.aspx"/>

Redirect Images Requests To Another Folder Using Urlrewriting.net?

Jan 24, 2010

I'm using urlrewriting.net to redirect a cascading stylesheet image request. I've been trying without luck to do so. Here's the rewrite I added:

<add name="reportImagesRedirect"
virtualUrl="^~/estadisticas/(.*).png"
rewriteUrlParameter="ExcludeFromClientQueryString"[code]...

I'd like to know if there's something wrong with it. I'm trying to link all the http get requests made to one folder to be redirected to the images folder. So for instance when I make a request like this

http://localhost:8080/estadisticas/spines.png

I want the web server to look the image in

http://localhost:8080/images/spines.png

Urlrewriting .htm To .aspx?

Sep 28, 2010

I just finished converting a static .htm site to a .aspx/master page site for a client. They have a number of google site links (that I've blocked) that are .htm, but they're still showing up on Google. To preserve old bookmarks (and google sitelinks), I'd like to rewrite the URL from http://www.site.com/about.htm to http://www.site.com/about.aspx.

I'm using urlrewriter already, I just don't know enough about it to know how to rewrite this url. Should be pretty easy, something like:

<rewrite url="~/(*.htm)" to="~/(*.aspx)" />

but that isn't working.

Rewriting Classic ASP That Uses JScript In ASPX?

Jan 25, 2011

I have a classic ASP page which is actually written in server-side JavaScript (I need to do number base conversion and JavaScript handles this really well). Unfortunately once it has performed its number base conversion it needs to access a protected folder on our site and our ISP won't let us use ASP for this, although they do allow ASP.Net to access protected folders.

I know slightly less than nothing about ASPX but I have some sample VB code which can read content in the protected folder, and I am comfortable with VBScript and JavaScript so how hard can it be...but my questions are:

1. Is there any way that I can (server-side) utilise my existing JavaScript functions within an ASPX page?

2. Are there any built-in functions accessible to VB which will provide number base conversion (for example, provide a number and return it in Base36 or any other base, or provide a Base36 number and return it as an integer)? This option would lead me down the path of rewriting the whole thing (oh joy).

3. Or would it be easier to keep the ASP page and use that to perform the calculation and then make an AJAX like call from the ASPX page to the ASP page to return the information I need and keep the ASPX page for just accessing the protected area?

Security :: Allowing Access To Default.aspx With Default Document Enabled?

Jan 19, 2011

I am trying to secure very mixed content that is located in an ASP.NET directory. For purposes of this question, it can be ~/MyApp/.

I want all of the content in the directory and its subdirectories restricted to authenticated users. The default.aspx page, though, should be accessible to everyone. This is the web.config in that directory:

[Code]....

Now if you are an unauthenticated user, everything works fine if you request [code]....

The problem occurs in that visitors do not always request "Default.aspx". We have a default document configured so that they get Default.aspx even if they just request "/MyApp". An authenticated user works fine, but an unauthenticated user is directed to the login page.

Now I know that essentially this happens because even though the request for "/MyApp/" will actually end up serving up "/MyApp/Default.aspx", the security system is only checking for "/MyApp/" since that is what I requested. That is then getting the default security for the directory.

How can you configure an exception to allow access when no particular file is requested in the directory??

Is there some dependency between DefaultDocumentModule and UrlAuthorizationModule? In this environment, the UrlAuthorizationModule has been removed and re-added in order to make sure it fires for non-managed requests. I would not expect that to change the order of execution, though, since UrlAuthorizationModule usually goes after DefaultDocument.

A workaround could be to set up the opposite security with the directory being open, and then trying to secure individual files. Because of the (changing) number of files, and extensions, etc, and the fact that you cannot use wildcards in a <location>, this is not really a workable solution for me.

Make Server Run Aspx Requests With Php

Dec 3, 2010

We are creating a real estate website. The National Franchise site wants to pass us searchs that fall in out local area. The searches MUST follow this format:

/propertysearch/findpropreties.aspx?q1=this&q2=that&q3=other

The issues is that we have built a site in PHP and buying a windows server and learning aspx seems like overkill for this one script.

So... I think I need to make a redirect, like this:

RewriteRule /propertysearch/findpropreties.aspx$ http://texasmls.com/corpSearch.php [R=301,L,QSA]

But it does not work.

In summary:

Does anyone know how to trick the server into running aspx files as php?

Mapping All Requests Except .aspx To A Custom IHttpHandlerFactory

Jul 26, 2010

I have an interesting scenario. Here is what I want to do:1. Map all requests to a custom IHttpHandlerFactory implementation. This is easy enough to do by setting up a * mapping.2. Have requests for .aspx though still go through the default PageHandlerFactory (I think that is what it is called), basically be handled as normal.Is this possible in ASP.NET 4 using IIS 7?My use case is that we are building an RESTful application of sorts that will be serving data back in different formats based on the file extension specified on the url. So for example .xml will be an xml format of the data while html serves an html format.We are using an MVC framework to accomplish this and have this piece all figured out.

Security :: Only Allow Logged In Users To View Default.aspx, And About.aspx?

Nov 28, 2010

First of all, thank you for the attention.

I am having some trouble, I am very new to asp.net, and the last problem I had, I spent about 59 hours trying to solve, Now I have a new one !

:D well, I guess this is part of the learning process...

Well, in Visual Studio 2010, I clicked New Website. @ C# language, ... The template it gives is pretty nice, it creates a database MDF file, and a login/register setup ready to go !...

You guys can see it live AT CLICK HERE ...

Everything is working, well at least here at the local machine...

There are 2 pages in there, Default.aspX, and About.aspx ... I want to allow ONLY logged in users to view those 2 pages... I tryed a few things, added my account to a role called ADMIN,

In the web.cong I changed Allow"*" to allow"ADMIN" ... still didn't work.. Also, I was trying to avoid using roles for now, and I was trying to find a way to do this for individual pages in the same directory as well... If possible with out touching the web.config file...

C# - Using Outputcache Together With Urlrewriting

Mar 31, 2011

I've got a problem using outputcache together with urlrewriting. We've got an application that rewrites url (IE [URL]). Based on the URL (/about/) we figure out which content to show. Now we're trying to add outputcache to that page:

< %@ outputcache duration="600" location="Server" varybyparam="Custom" varybycustom="RawURL" %>

And in the Global.asax we override GetVaryByCustomString like below:

public override string GetVaryByCustomString(HttpContext context, string custom)
{
if (custom == "RawUrl")
{
return context.Request.RawUrl;
}
else
{
return string.Empty;
}
}

However, when we publish the page i'd like to invalidate the cache so that the editors see the change directly. But no matter what I try, I cannot seem to invalidate the cache. If I'd like to invalidate "/about/" I would like to do this: HttpResponse.RemoveOutputCacheItem("/about/"); That doesn't work unfortunately. The only thing that seems to work is: HttpResponse.RemoveOutputCacheItem("/page.aspx");

This clears the cache for all my pages, not just "/about/". Is there any way to invalidate the cache based on the url? Or should we provide a cache key or something per page to be able to invalidate the cache programmatically?

Urlrewriting IsPostBack Always False?

Sep 29, 2010

I am working on rewriting URLs Urlrewriting.net, and have run into what seems to be a common problem but I can seem to fix it. I'll present a simplified case.

The URL rewriting is working perfectly with the rule:

<urlrewritingnet rewriteOnlyVirtualUrls="true" defaultPage="default.aspx" defaultProvider="RegEx" xmlns="http://www.urlrewriting.net/schemas/config/2006/07">
<rewrites>
<add name="catalog" virtualUrl="^~/catalog/(.*)/(.*).aspx" rewriteUrlParameter="ExcludeFromClientQueryString" destinationUrl="~/catalog.aspx?cid=$1&c=$2" ignoreCase="true"/>
</rewrites>
</urlrewritingnet>

On the page I have a DataList with 2 asp:buttons inside. When clicked, the page refreshes but does nothing.

I followed ScottGu's article to impliment a form control adapter to rewrite the action of the form to match the rewritten URL.

Page URL in the browser:

[URL]

<form name="aspnetForm" method="post" action="/dev/catalog/13/Music.aspx" id="aspnetForm">

I now see the correct URL on the form action, and when debugging I can see the page load event firing.

The problem now is that every time the page loads Page.IsPostback is false, causing the page to rebind the DataList and therefore ignore the ItemCommand the buttons should be triggering.

if (!Page.IsPostBack)
PopulateControls();

I'm using .NET 3.5 SP1, there is a ScriptManager on the master page but no UpdatePanel on this page. I've also tried resetting the Form.Action property and bypassing ScottGu's solution with the same result. If I go to the page URL directly without using the rewriter everything works fine.
