ADO.NET :: Linq String Compare / Find Out Which States In The "query" Are Not Included In The "query2"?

Feb 9, 2011

I got 2 linq results, one of them is as follow.

[Code]....

I need to find out which states in the "query" are not included in the "query2".I can loop through 2 results with nested loop but I think there might be better way of doing the same task with LINQ.Please show me the right direction if it can be done.

ADO.NET :: VWD 2010 And Linq To Sql: Can't Find A Query Model ?

Sep 19, 2010

I have added a linq to sql layer in my MVC 2 application.

This is the code I am using:

using (ProductPortalDataContext ctx = new ProductPortalDataContext())
{
var Title = from aps in ProductPortal.Models.AppSettingsView[code]...

It says to be unable to find a quey model for AppSettings view and then says "where not found".

Tried googling, nothing came up. Tried searching here(first two pages) and nothing that seemed relevant popped up.But the best of all, created a new ASP.NET applicatio, imported the model using Linq to SQL and it compiled!Ok, I tried adding a button and a label to the asp.net application just to see if it would work... guess what? It doesn't!Still the same error message and I have *NO* clue what's wrong with it!

DataSource Controls :: Test The Performance Of When The Query Is Included Directly In The SqlDataSource?

Feb 16, 2011

I have a query that I want to test the performance of when the query is included directly in the SqlDataSource versus when I call a stored procedure. Does anyone have suggestions on how I would be able to closely watch the actual steps here? I was thinking of turning on tracing and adding Trace.Write for each of the events that fire along the way. This doesn't seem efficient and I wanted to see if there was a better approach.

Trying To Compare LINQ-to-Entity To Date Results In Error

Mar 14, 2011

I have a simple If..Then like so:

If rhcexists.First.SignatureDate > Date.Today.AddMonths(-6) Then
End If

rhcexists is a simple query to the Entity Model:

Dim rhcexists = From p In dbContracts.Signatures _
Where p.StudentID = CStr(Session("people_code_id")) _
And p.ContractType = "rhc" _
Order By p.ID Descending _
Select p

Problem is that this comparison results in an error:

LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object get_Item(System.String)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression.

This is occurring on the If clause. Any ideas why this occurring and how I can fix it?

I am using ASP.NET 4, EF 4, and VS 2010 SP1.

Separate String Of Texts And Compare Them?

May 5, 2010

I have a textbox for a child's name. The user may enter just the first name, first name + middle name, or first name + middle name + last name for their child. How do I separate this string of texts appart so that I can compare it to the parent's last name textbox before inserting into the database? For example, if one part of the three parts in a child's name matches the parent's last name textbox then delete this part out of the child's full name before inserting into the database.
