AJAX :: 16 Resources In The Folders For The Toolkit Created By The Dll?
Jun 28, 2010
In the bin folder with the AJAX control toolkit there are 16 other folders that each contain a file called AJAX.ControlToolkit.resources.dll. How do these get created? Does the AJAX control toolkit dll create these automatically ? Do I need to manually add them to a project if I want to use the AJAX control toolkit with it?

Often, out of sheer desperation I will end up enabling "Everyone" access on a folder that a web app is accessing (perhaps for file creation, reading, etc) because I can't figure which user account to enable access on.
Obviously, this is a very bad thing to do. Is there a way to determine what account IIS is using at that exact moment to access folders (and perhaps other resources like SQL Server, etc)?
Are there logs I can look at that will tell me? Or perhaps some other way? I usually use Windows Auth without impersonation. Not sure if that information is relevant.

I am getting an error in my application in AJAXControlToolkit.ScriptControlBase.System.Web.UI.IPostBackDataHandler.LoadPostData. I am adding and removing tab panels based on user input data. Sometimes the app creates 5 to 10 pannels and sometimes only 1 or 2 depending on the user input parameter. The error occurs when the user input parameter dictates that 10 panels be created. When the user then changes the input parameter to a selection that only requires 1 panel the error occurs and the error message refers to a parameter name :index with the specified argument out of range It appears that is is still looking for the 10 panels created in the previous user selection. The error message is in the Disassembly of the AJAXControlToolkit.I thought maybe was linked to enableviewstate but I set this to false for the tabpanel and tabcontainer yet still get the error.

I did not think the first post went through. I followed the instructions and created the new tab, located the dll file and thought I was adding the controls. Instead, the new tab disapeared. When I try to add it again, I get the message: "The Tab "Ajax ToolKit" already exists" but it if it does exist,
it is not visible.

Suppose some users log in to my web app. They get authenticated (as something other than the anonymous user), so they can access any resource in the directory. The system.web/authorization section of web.config is set to deny access to anonymous users like this:
<system.web><authorization>
<deny users="?" />
</authorization></system.web>
Actually, from what I understand, this only protects files accessed through the ASP.NET system. If I drop a JPG file in there, it's accessible to everyone, without authentication/authorization. In order to ensure all files are protected, there's a different section for that:
<system.webServer><security><authorization>
<add accessType="Deny" users="?" />
</authorization></security><system.webServer>
Of course, now when someone attempts to access the JPG file, they don't get redirected to the login page. Instead, they get a nasty HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized.
Now, suppose a user causes a file to be created on the server. How, in context of this elaborate Forms Authentication and Authorization scheme, do I ensure that only that user's web browser can access the file via it's URL? For example, must I modify the web.config file? If so, do I have to do this manually or can it be done through code? Will modifying it frequently cause the application to be interrupted/restarted?

Listing folders in folders then creating arrays in JS for each of the folders?
Directory Structure:
I have a directory structure as follows;
ad_folder
--folderA
--folderB
--folderC
--anotherFolder
--etcfolder
--afile.aspx
--anotherfile.gif
ad_code
--folderA
--folderB
--afile.aspx
--anotherfile.gif
ad_prep
--folderA
--etcfolder
--afile.aspx
--anotherfile.gif
ad_bin
--etcfolder
--afile.aspx
--anotherfile.gif
other Folder
files folder
assetsfolder
index.aspx
web.config
image.gif
Task at hand:
I want code in VB.NET to create javascript arrays of the folder contents that can then be used on the client end. I only need arrays for all folders contained in folders starting with ad_ and an array for all the base folders . like so:
var folders=["ad_folder","ad_code","ad_prep","ad_bin"];
var ad_folder=["folderA","folderB","folderC","anotherFolder","etcfolder"];
var ad_code=["folderA","folderB"];
var ad_prep=["folderA","etcfolder"];
var ad_bin=["etcfolder"];
note that I do not know the number of or the names of the folders, they can be different in different cases, I only have the root path.

i found that for X & Y co-ordinates value of the Ajax toolkit dragPanel is very easily calculated from this article
Retain position of a DragPanel Extender after postback using ASP.NET AJAX
but i need to store the value in database and while page_load() i need to render the control as per the Co-ordinate values from the database .
From the above solution everything is fine except that i need to do it with code behind(from server side).
and i don't know a JavaScript a lot .

I'm using AJAX Control Toolkit HTMLEditor.
I have a sample Microsoft Word document which has several paragraphs.
When I click the button "Paste from MS Word (with cleanup)" on the Editor, <br/> is inserted as the HTML instead of <p></p> i.e. HTML paragraphs.
I would like the MS Word paragraphs to retain their meaning and have a <p> instead of <br />.
(By the way, they are kept if I do a standard Paste, but then a lot of other obscure characters are inserted into the HTML)

At present we are using <ajax:TabContainer> to load tabs. I have 5 user controls inside <ajax:TabPanel>.
The problem is that all the data on these 5 pages gets loaded at once and increases the loading time as well as it is very hard to debug. Can we do lazy loading uisng TabContainer control? so that only the data of the current tab is loaded and when we click on the other tab then that's control data gets loaded.

I want to give the tab control only the gridview page partically on master page. If it is possible, I am going to put other gridview at this page. That means tab control ONLY gridview. Is it possible?

I am wondering if it is possible to create AJAX Toolkit control using JavaScript/JQuery or not. I know that I can create controls at server (at design or code-behind) and interact with its properties using JavaScript but I would rather want to initalize and create controls at client side using JavaScript/JQuery.

During development of my site, I have optimized for all the common browsers, including Chrome and it works fine when tested locally on my dev machine. However, I have found out that when put on my live dedicated server, the pages that are delivered to Chrome do not contain the AJAX scripts and for example the treeview, which should load its branches dynamically, renders in such a way that a full postback occures. This completely breaks the site in Chrome.
Considering all things I could deduce about the problem, I would suppose that I may need a newer version of MS AJAX that supports Chrome, but I cannot find any version older than Feb 2007 and anyway, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is installed on the live server. That should contain the propper MS AJAX anyway, shuldn't it?
I've been researching this for more than a whole day now and cannot figure out what's wrong. I even matched and compared all settings of the site on IIS 7 on both my dev machine and the live server. Except a couple of, as far as I can say, unrelated additional entries on the live server, those are identical as well.
I tested using Fiddler that all the difference is made by the User-Agent request header. If I just add
[Code]....
behind the "Mozilla/5.0" bit, all is fine and I get response containing all it should. I suppose I could create a HTTP module that would add that bit to the mentioned header and then add that handler to the pipeline, but that would be an ugly solution, curing the effect, not the cause of the problem. And it may cause other problems in Chrome, too.
So my question is: What do I have to do (set up, instal) on the server so that the MS AJAX framework actually realizes that it can also handle Chrome?
I'm going to include few snippets of code to demonstrate the differences between the same page loaded in the same Chrome, but from two different sources - my dev machine's IIS (A) and from the live server (B). The applications running on both of these web servers are identical.
And the following shows the difference in generated HTML at the top of the <body> element:
A:
[Code]....
B:
[Code]....
There is still the typeof(Sys) === 'undefined' bit of code, which tells me that ScriptManager is still being loaded, but decides that other AJAX script should not be. But it does not even initialize itself so Sys is in fact undefined after the page is loaded.
There are also differences at the end of body:
A:
[Code]....
versus B:
[Code]....
