AJAX :: Create AJAX Toolkit Control From JavaScript/jQuery?
Aug 5, 2010
I am wondering if it is possible to create AJAX Toolkit control using JavaScript/JQuery or not. I know that I can create controls at server (at design or code-behind) and interact with its properties using JavaScript but I would rather want to initalize and create controls at client side using JavaScript/JQuery.
My team is currently working on a substantial update to an existing ASP.NET 3.5 application which uses the Ajax Control Toolkit on virtually every page. We've found that in many cases that its use is unwarranted (clearly a previous developer decided to "Ajaxafy" everything), and a richer - and simpler - experience can be found using jQuery. We've also found that the AjaxControlToolkit can be a pain to work with frankly in terms of maintainability and performance when you have half a dozen developers working it. We're debating scrapping its use completely, and going with jQuery for the UI experience. We're fortunate to have enough time to do this safely, and every feature we use can be replicated without any problems (AutoComplete, Calendar Control, etc).It seems Microsoft are siding with jQuery with its addition to Visual Studio lately, and the current Ajax Control Toolkit isn't in ASP MVC (client side files only). Therefore I'm personally siding with jQuery for the moment, as it seems to have a future, while the Control Toolkit's future is a little more cloudy. However, from a maintainability perspective, how is jQuery to work with? It's essentially just Javascript, so no plugins required. Are updates stable, and do they often break existing functionality?
Me using Vb.net and Ajax control tool kit with Database Sql server. My problem is that When I select one Radiobutton list it genrates only one row in gridview and when i select another button it throws error like ".non MS DOM browser is undefined."and sometimes " document.getElementByid() is null or not an object" OR ".javaScript_dopostback.".I have few componets on my page
1. RadioButtonList Which is placed inside Update panel1 first. 2. GridView Which is placed inside Update panel2 second..and Gridview generated five Textboxes Dyanamically in which i have used autocomplete extender with one textbox. 3. I have also used Ajax tool kit extender for calender control. 4. I am also using Jquery and master page too. 5. i am generating new row on textchange event of one of the textbox in grid view.So how can i do all the above functionality properlly.

I have a ReorderList from the Ajax Control Toolkit on an aspx page. What I want to do is to enable a button after the order of the items have been changed. I am Getting the following error using the Numeric UpDown Control from Ajax Control Toolkit. Assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit, Version=3.0.30512.20315, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e' contains a Web resource with name 'AjaxControlToolkit.NumericUpDown.NumericUpDownBehavior.debug.js', but does not contain an embedded resource with name 'AjaxControlToolkit.NumericUpDown.NumericUpDownBehavior.debug.js'.
what I wanted to implement is something like this: lick meThis demo is PHP based, so I wanted to ask whether this is also possible to implement in ASP.Talking about performance, would it be better to use the jQuery framework than the Ajax Control Toolkit?

At present we are using <ajax:TabContainer> to load tabs. I have 5 user controls inside <ajax:TabPanel>.
The problem is that all the data on these 5 pages gets loaded at once and increases the loading time as well as it is very hard to debug. Can we do lazy loading uisng TabContainer control? so that only the data of the current tab is loaded and when we click on the other tab then that's control data gets loaded.
I've got an issue where I'm unable to view Ajax controls within the Visual Studio toolbox section What makes this issue even more bizzare is that I'm able to view the controls of the .dll (AjaxControlToolkit.dll) in a test website. I can see Visual Studio iterate through the controls and add them to the tab in one project and absolutely nothing in the other. I've already checked to see if another tab has my controls and done multiple Toolbox resets. Obviously, I need consistency with this and for me to be able to easily add controls to my target website...Does anyone know why one VS2008 project displays controls correctly in one place but not in another project?
using Editor control of ajax toolkit control is uneditable.I know its reason but do not know how to solve that.In the top of the html page we have this text
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
written whenever we open a aspx page. But due to some reason i do not have to use that text, so i have deleted that. That's why my editor is uneditable. When i take those text that editor is editable. So, how that editor can be editable without taking those text ?

I am developing a web application for online bidding wher I want the BID button to disable itself, on all clients, whenever someone places a bid. What I need is some javascript to ping the site to check if a bid has been placed on the server, if so, then disable the button. I was suggested to use jQuery for this, use .ajax to query the server for the check. Then use a setTimeout javascript function to keep checking.I am not javascript expert at all so any tips would be greatly appreciated. At lease where to start. Also, will I need to record every single bid in database to achieve above?
I tried using AJAX Control for my first time after I installed the AJAX Toolkit for ASP.NET. I created a new ASP.NET website and added the ConfirmbuttonExtender.
After I run it without changing nothing I get this error:

I tried connecting this Control with a button as I saw in a tutorial video or adding the ToolkitScriptManager but it gave me the same error.
