View 1 RepliesI have this function in aspx page.

and I call this function from JavaScript as below:

I want to know what is this technique called and what is the advantage of calling the function on that way
I have a service that works great on my development box. It uses JQuery to hit my web service, and then the JSON results are sent back.
The web service is located on our basePage.cs. We didn't want to put out an external WebService for this. Our on beta box something different is happening.
The web page seems to be trying to call the web method correctly - the JSON data is being sent... but the server doesn't seem to know it's a webmethod. here's my service function (it's in our basepage.cs which inherits from Page).

I want to integrate paypal inside my shopping cart. For that it requires a html form to be embeded inside .aspx page with the action to paypal and method is post. Inside that form there are some hidden input filed. I want to assign one of those hidden field's value from server side code so i need to access that filed from server side. But how? Here is my form:
<form action="[URL] method="post" id="PaypalForm">
<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_cart"/>
<input type="hidden" name="upload" value="1"/>
<input type="hidden" name="business" value="[URL]
<input type="hidden" name="item_name_1" value="Item Name 1" />
<input type="hidden" name="amount_1"/>
<input type="submit" value="PayPal" />
</form>
I want to access amount_1 filed.
In my ASP.NET main page I have one hidden field and and one button. When the user clicks the button I am showing the pop up (child page). I need to access a Hidden field while the pop up is loading. How could I access the Hidden field using c#?
View 2 RepliesI have a requirement where I have a webpart and two ImageButtons(imgGV, imgLV) and a hidden input textbox('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType') in an aspx page. I need to change templates to this Webpart either to show results in "Grid View" or as "List View" on the click of this ImageButtons. I added code in the page_load of .aspx page as
imgLV.Attributes.Add("onclick", "document.getElementById('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType').value='LV';return true;");
imgGV.Attributes.Add("onclick", "document.getElementById(('ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType')).value='GV';return true;");
When I am clicking the specific ImageButton, it has to write into hidden field either "GV" or "LV". In the webpart CreateChildControls I assign templates based on the text in Hidden field either "GV" (Grid Template) else "LV" (List Template). In the CreateChildControls of Webpart for the template change, I am getting the Hidden value as empty. I am using coding as
HtmlInputHidden t = new HtmlInputHidden();
t = (HtmlInputHidden)this.Page.FindControl("ctl00$MainHeaderContent$txtType");
if (t.Value=="GV") {
assign one template}
else { another template}.
I am getting t.Value="". Question is: Is it like if we add some text in a hidden textbox using the Javascript function in an aspx page, the same textbox value in the same aspx page but in the Webpart class in the CreateChildControls method using the code as this(webpart).page.FindControl("Textbox").text is showing empty. So the text added using Javascript into Textbox is it not available in the code behind code using "Text" property of the same Textbox?.
(using Ajax in the backhand) I am trying to set a value for a hidden field, when an id is changed. I am getting object reference not set error.
As of know i return the string value through callback and got it done in the front-hand.
Is there anyway that i can set the value in the code-behind when using Ajax methods.
I'm more familiar with ASP.NET and not code behind.
how do I read the hidden "code" field in a code behind page using c#?
<html>
<body>
<form id="test" method=""post"" action="processing.aspx")
<input type="hidden" name="code" value="abcdefg">
<input type="submit" value="Submit">
</form>
</body>
</html>
Within a WebMethod I need to access a Page Property. The code is generating an error:
Cannot refer to an instance member of a class from within a shared method or shared member initializer without an explicit instance of the class
Is it possible to access page properties from WebMethods?
Here's my code:

I'm struggling to read an int from the hidden field on aspx page.
<input type = "hidden" id = "myIntegerId" name = "integerId" value= "<%: Model.MyObjectId %>" runat = "server" />
The value is definately on the form, I can see it in the debugger and print it with <%: %>
When I read the form values in the controller, instead of an int I recieve a following string: <%: Model.MyObjectId %>
I have tried casting data in the hidden field to string and calling ToString() method on that field, neither has worked.
The data is submitted using the post event.
I have a custom user control which contains a asp hiddenfield object. The value of this hidden field is being set using javascript and I have verified that the value is being set properly. When a postback occurs the new value is not being saved and I cannot access it in my code.
I believe the problem is because the user control is not saved in viewstate and therefore the hidden field value is not saved accross postback. How can I make the hidden field save its value? I tried accessing it from the early page cycles and still no luck.
i would like to call the external js file's function onclientclick event, but how can i pass the parameter, which i get from the hidden field value from the same aspx file.
<asp:button id="btn" onclientclick="javascript:test(hidden_field);"/>
I'm using ASPNetDB.mdb database for membership login and another database to store ads that members submit.
In my webform that collects the ad info I'd like to populate a field with the logged in member's Name.
I am saving "Instruction" in CreateInstruction view. This view has partial view "CreateInstnAttribute" which saves "Attributes" related to this Instruction. It requires the InstnID as foreign key. The Instruction is saved using JQuery to avoid postback. So how can I get the InstnID to save the InstnAttribute? I tried HiddenField to save InstnId but I am not able to receive the value there. Can we use viewdata directly in JQuery?
View 3 RepliesI have a user control that i have registered to an aspx page. Now from the aspx page, i am trying to access one of the registered usercontrol's hiddenfield value in my aspx page using javacript using the below code:
tst = document.getElementById('control1$hdnField').value;
I looked into the page's trace, and i could see 'control1$hdnField'. Then why i am not getting its value in my aspx page. I have also confirmed that the hidden field by this name exists in the user control and also has a default value set.
Is that possible? The reason why am doing this is because I need to parse that variable into a an JQuery function so I wanted JQuery to read that field. Can I Assign that value in base class or I have to do it within default.aspx pageload method?
View 1 RepliesI'm using a hidden field to store a value in an asp.net page. Basically I set the value of the hidden field whenever a value on the form is changed i.e. first name, date etc. The field is on a webform that has a master page and is in the content section:
<asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server">
<asp:HiddenField ID="hdnDirtyFlag" runat="server" Value='false' />
I change the value of the field in javascript by calling a function whenever an onchange event fires in other controls on the web form:
<asp:TextBox CssClass="niceInput" ID="tbFirstName" runat="server" MaxLength="40" Width="150" onchange='SetHiddenVariable();'></asp:TextBox>
<script type="text/javascript">
function SetHiddenVariable() {
// Set the value of the hidden variable so we know a field has been updated
var hiddenControl = '<%= hdnDirtyFlag.ClientID %>';
document.getElementById(hiddenControl).value = 'true';
}
</script>
So far so good. When the page loads the hidden field value is 'false', and if I don't change any values on the webform it remains false. Whenever I do change another control the javascript function gets called and the hidden field value gets updated to 'true'. Again this is all fine.
After I submit the form and update the database, I set the hidden field value back to 'false' in the code behind:
hdnDirtyFlag.Value = "false";
But when I click another button and do a postback, the hidden field value is still at 'true'.
Can anyone explain why this is? I stepped through the code behind and immediately after changing the value I can see the value is 'false'. There is an asp:UpdatePanel on the page but the hidden field is not part of this panel.
EDIT:
This is the code I use to check the value of the field in code behind in the second postback, after it has been set to false in the last step of the first postback. The value remains at true for some reason in the second postback, after it has been set to true in javascript on the client side then set back to false in code behind as shown above:
if (hdnDirtyFlag.Value == "true")
{
UpdateSecurityObject();
}
I am facing one asp.net server side issue using vb.net the problem is i declared one html input hidden field in my page, the name is hidden1. but when i going to call that name into server side code, that time i got the below error, <b>Name "Hidden1" is not declared</b> Code below:
Default.aspx
<%@ Page Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="WebApplication2._Default" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

I set the Session["PhotoId"] in a normal aspx. But I can't retrieve value in the webmethod of the aspx page.
[WebMethod(EnableSession=true)]
public static string Submit(string data1, ...)
{
string test = HttpContext.Current.Session["PhotoId"]; // test is null
}
What should I do?
I have Gridview like this:
<asp:GridView ID="gvPartsSearchResult" runat ="server" CssClass="MRJ_TextGrid">
<Columns>
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Select">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:RadioButton
ID="rdButton"
runat="server"
AutoPostBack ="true"
onclick="javascript:CheckOtherIsCheckedByGVIDMore()"/>
<asp:HiddenField
ID="hdnFileExtension"
runat="server"
Value ='<%#Bind("FILE_EXTENSION")%>'/>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
I want to read the hidden field value when the user clicks on the radio button.
I have running 3.5 application, an i want to use ajax for this application after enabling ajax everything workign fine but i have a problem with hiddent fields. View 1 RepliesI would like to write some html content to div element through web method. The web method should be like
[System.Web.Services.WebMethod]
[ScriptMethod(UseHttpGet = true, ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)]
public static string LoadImages1()

without passing data to success block, I have to write at webmethod it self.
I have a hidden field (hfUnsaved)in my child page . On keypress of my textbox i am setting the value into the hiddenfield using the following javascript function
[Code]....
On load: txtProject.Attributes.Add("onkeypress", "return Click('a');");
On button click i am removing the value from hidden field as follows:
[Code].....................
Wondering if it is possible to access a master page's hidden field (ex. <Input Type="Hidden" ID="TestHiddenField" Value="testValue"/>) From a Content Page's C# Pack CS Page.If it is possible, How do I go about doing so? I have tried:
PreviousPage.Master.FindControl("[TestHiddenField]") but no .Value attribute and no luck in general.
Aplogies if this has been discussed before but I couldn't find an answer.
I'm trying to use jquery/Ajax to access some webmethods in my codebehind. This is fine, but I would in my function like to reference a placeholder (phStory in the code below) on my page and also load a usercontrol into that placeholder.
Unfortunately I get the message: "An object reference is required for the non-static field, method, or property 'TestControls.phStory' " and similar for the usercontrol. Does anyone know how I can still access my placeholder and usercontrol from within this.
It has to be stati as it's a WebMethod but this then throws up these errors.
