Oct 28, 2010
My requirement is, I have one text box and that text box accepts US Format 10 digit phone number like 555-555-5555. I want when user enter 5555555555 it automatically convert this in 555-555-5555 and if he enter some wrong number then show him error and if dont want to enter any thing then there should not be any error.
<th style="width: 150px">Home Telephone </th>
<td>
<asp:TextBox ID="txtHome" runat="server" MaxLength="12" ValidationGroup="vUserDetailsB" Width="252px" CssClass="txtBox" TabIndex="19"></asp:TextBox>
<cc1:MaskedEditExtender ID="meeHome" runat="server" TargetControlID="txtHome"
AutoComplete="false" MaskType="None" Mask="999-999-9999" ClearMaskOnLostFocus="true" InputDirection="LeftToRight" />
<%-- <cc1:MaskedEditValidator ID="mevHome" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtHome"
EmptyValueMessage="Telephone Number is required." ValidationGroup="vUserDetailsB"
ControlExtender="meeHome" InvalidValueMessage="Valid Telephone Number is required."
IsValidEmpty="false" ValidationExpression="^d{3}-d{3}-d{4}$" Font-Size="8pt" />--%>
<asp:RegularExpressionValidator ID="revHome" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtHome" Display="Dynamic" ErrorMessage="Invalid Home number. Number should be in the format: 555-123-4567" Font-Size="8pt" SetFocusOnError="True" ValidationExpression="d{3}-d{3}-d{4}"
ValidationGroup="vUserDetailsB" Width="100%" meta:resourcekey="txtHomeResource1"></asp:RegularExpressionValidator>
</td>
Whats happenening, If i entered any thing like 5555555555 and it is coverting to this 555-555-5555 format which is correct and then when i moved to another textbox it is throwing error "Invalid Home number. Number should be in the format: 555-123-4567" and this format changes to 5555555555 and its not going ahead.

I have confronted a problem of using MaskedEditExtender when try to restrict user to input a number mask with mask. User input of course has no problem. The problem is when the system get the value from database or somewhere (doing assignation), the textbox show the wrong value with the following mask setting: I am writing to contribute and share my solution: example:
textbox1: 1.1 (user input) by using the following mask:
<asp:MaskedEditExtender ID="meeXML" runat="server"
TargetControlID="textbox1"
Mask="999.99"
MessageValidatorTip="true"
OnFocusCssClass="MaskedEditFocus"
OnInvalidCssClass="MaskedEditError"
MaskType="Number"
InputDirection="RightToLeft"
AcceptNegative="Left"
ClearMaskOnLostFocus="True"
ErrorTooltipEnabled="True"/>
When the system get back the data, textbox1 will show:
textbox1: 0.11 <- that is not the actual what I want:
==========================================
the solution:
==========================================
<asp:MaskedEditExtender ID="meeXML" runat="server"
TargetControlID="textbox1"
Mask="NNNNNNNNNNNN"
MessageValidatorTip="true"
OnFocusCssClass="MaskedEditFocus"
OnInvalidCssClass="MaskedEditError"
MaskType="Number"
InputDirection="RightToLeft"
AcceptNegative="Left"
ClearMaskOnLostFocus="True"
Filtered="."
ErrorTooltipEnabled="True"/>

This is one of the strangest errors I've ever seen.
I'm doing a very simple call to return values from the HttpRuntime cache. The call is:
return HttpContext.Current.Cache[cacheKey];
If it returns null, that's fine. I check if the returned value is null and act accordingly. I've been using this call for a long time.
Recently, for some reason, when cacheKey is set to this exact value:
"Topic_GridSelectAll:5,null,2010-08-31-20-00-00,Published,desc,5,1"
a System.OverflowException is thrown: Negating the minimum value of a twos complement number is invalid.
Nothing about the call, associated code or server has changed. If the cacheKey has slightly different characters, it works perfectly fine. For instance, this cacheKey returns null without throwing any exception:
"Topic_GridSelectAll:5,null,2010-08-31-21-00-00,Published,desc,5,1"
Notice, the only difference between those two strings is the time characters: 2010-08-31-20-00-00 versus 2010-08-31-21-00-00.
Why the hell would that make any difference? And why now after all this time?
The stack trace is:
[OverflowException: Negating the minimum value of a twos complement number is invalid.]
System.Math.AbsHelper(Int32 value) +12753486
System.Web.Caching.CacheMultiple.UpdateCache(CacheKey cacheKey, CacheEntry newEntry, Boolean replace, CacheItemRemovedReason removedReason, Object& valueOld) +142
System.Web.Caching.CacheInternal.DoGet(Boolean isPublic, String key, CacheGetOptions getOptions) +122
MyProject.Helpers.CacheHelper.GetData(String cacheDomain, String cacheKey) in ...
I've tried changing the cache call to use HttpRuntime.Cache instead (ie. HttpRuntime.Cache[cacheKey]), but that made no difference. I know it's the same underlying cache provider, but I thought maybe the different call would make a difference.

I have a tex box which I'm using to capture a bank sort code.
I want to use the AJAX MaskedEditExtender so the user only ever inputs the data in this format 12-34-56.
Here is my extender code:
[Code]....
This initially works fine, however when i remove the focus on this text box the input removes any hyphen and the texbox value is left like this 123456.

I have a textbox for date input and I used a MaskedEditExtender to set the Mask="99/99/9999": here is the code:
<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="tbDate" Width="80px" />
<ajax:MaskedEditExtender ID="MaskedEditExtender1" runat="server" TargetControlID="tbDate" Mask="99/99/9999" MaskType="Date" />
In my code when the page loads I need to set the tbDate to readonly, then when the user enters some other info on the page I will make tbDate editable (not readonly), I did all these using javascript by setting tbDate.readOnly = true/false. However, when
going from readonly to editable, when the tbDate field receives the focus, the mask __/__/____ appears, but when the user starts typing the first digit, it pushes the mask as if the mask was part of the value, so it becomes something like 12__/__/____ instead
of 12/__/____. If I commented out the code that makes the tbDate field readonly, then the mask works as expected.

I'm serving up PDFs from a SQL db and presenting them in the browser. I'm trying to figure out a way to embed a number in the PDF dynamically so that the recordID for that PDFs SQL record is available to me when the user submits the XML form data. The user hits the submit button on the form and the form submits its XML data to my submission page. If there is some way of changing the submission URL on the fly then I could do a query string to pass my self the recordID. I'm not generating the PDF in code, its being created by hand and then uploaded to my site.EditUser is given a link someServer.com/pdfLink.aspx?formID=5 they go there and that pages pulls a PDF from the DB and displays it. This pulls up acrobat in browser full size so my aspx page isn't in control of submitting the completed form, Acrobat is. The user fills out the form and hits the submit button in the form. This submit button was set up at form design time to point to another page someSite.com/pdfSubmit.aspx The submit button posts the XML data to that page and I can process it. I need the recordID in the query string for the someSite.com/pdfSubmit.aspx page. To do this I would need to modify the PDF to either add the recordID and query string to the submit button's submit URL, or embed it in the PDF else ware. The big question is how do I modify the PDF just before I display it via someServer.com/pdfLink.aspx?formID=5 to do either of these two options.

The following code gives error: "When casting from a number, the value must be a number less than infinity."
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="DATE" SortExpression="date1">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Calendar ID="Calendar1" runat="server"
SelectedDate='<%# Bind("date1") %>' VisibleDate='<%# Eval("date1") %>'>
</asp:Calendar>
</ItemTemplate>
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:TextBox ID="Date1" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("date1") %>'></asp:TextBox>
</EditItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
The error occurs at the line <asp:Calendar ID="Calendar1"...>
It errors because there are records with null value for date1 when the records are returned from the database.
Is there a way to specify in the .aspx file telling it to ignore null or display null/blank?

I've a web form whereby my invoice number is "CS00x" whereby x is the auto number supposedly to be generated using the following codes:
[Code]....
However, when the first time I login and try if the invoice number can be inserted into the database in access, it would display CS0001 which is the result I want. So, I went on to try out using another account to login.But it gives me error "The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field
or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again."Also, I found out that it can only generate CS001 but not CS002 so on.

My environment is ASP.Net + IIS 7.0 + Windows Server 2008 + .Net 3.5. I am wondering whether the number of users online and number of active session are the same thing? The other question is, no matter whether they are the same, how to calculate them (i.e. for a given time, what is the number of users online, and related active number of sessions)?
