AJAX :: How To Bind Textbox Control To ComboBox/DropDown Control
Jul 12, 2010
I am using AJAX ComboBox control (or I can use simple ASP.NET DropDown Control it does not matter) in my form. What I do is, I bind combo box control to my database and retrieve client names:
[Code]....
But here is the problem. I want First and Last names to go into separate TextBox controls (txtFirstName and txtLastName). Now it inserts Last Name and Firts Name in txtLastName control. At the same time I would really like to keep LastName + FirstName together in Combo Box.
ajaxcontrol toolkit combobox control, a picture is worth than a lot of words so here is the picif you are not able to view then here is the link

the problem is the items text in the combox box is having a square beneath at the second character which is hindering the visibility of the list. but the square is not appearing in the text area.
I have a ListView (in an update panel) bound to an ObjectDataSource (connected to an NHibernate object) and in the EditItemTemplate I use Text='<%# Bind("HideLocation")%>' to bind to a string property of the object.
When I click edit (twice, another issue I'm having) and view the code in Chrome, the output looks like this:
[code]....
why the value of the bound data (in this case: In locker 2317) is showing up outside of the text box instead of as the contents of the data?
I have a formview in which I have a dropdown list that displays a list of owners. In case the list does not have the correct owner for the user I have added functionality for them to add a new owner to the database table that populates the list. I did this by including a textbox and an Insert button in a panel. When the user clicks the new owner insert button I would like to re-databind the dropdown list so that they will see the owner they added and be able to select it.
When I add ddl_owners.databind to my button click code it gives me an error. "Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control."
I don't want to re-databind the entire formview because then it deletes all the information on the form that the user has already keyed in.
I just downloaded the latest ajax control toolkit and was trying to use ComboBox (as described on the samples page). However, I can't find it (tried to do reflection on the assembly as well). So is the ComboBox still in ajax control toolkit or it is removed or renamed etc?
I have 2 tables, call them stock and visit. Stock contains a list of standard products (code and description columns). Visit contains a list of products used during a visit (product description column amongst others). When a user adds a product to the visit table they can either select a standard product from the list or select a product code and amend the description, e.g. they could select "paint" and change the description to "blue paint". The new description will only be relevant in the Visit table. This all works fine.
I have an editable gridview which lists the products used during a visit. There is an Ajax control toolkit combo box in the EditItemTemplate which allows the user to select a different product. If the product exists in the Stock list then everything works fine. If the user amended the description (e.g. changed "paint" to "blue paint" when they added the product to the Visit table I get the following error.
'ProductDescription' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value
I presume this is because the amended description won't exist in the standard list of products. How do I add the amended description to the combo box list? I've tried using the RowEditing event but can't reference the combo box in the EditItemTemplate.I think what I want is something along the lines of [Code]....
Combobox markup below
<asp:ComboBox ID="ProductDescription" runat="server" [code]...Answer in vb preferably.
I have a ajax combobox in my page, when i try to select an item from it i can select by typing in text and its selectedindexchanged event fires, but when that event is complete and when i try to select another item from the combobox it produces the following error:
could not complete operation due to error 800a025e,and an alert asks me if i want to debug it.If I press yes then i get this page:
I have problems with optimizing AJAX Control Toolkit. The specific problem is that 4800 records take about 30 seconds to bind in Internet Explorer (only 2 seconds in Opera & Firefox). I've tried anything, but I still can't improve the load time in IE.I've already enabled compression and caching, I'm using ToolkitScriptManager instead of ScriptManager. I've tried setting LoadScriptsBeforeUI and EnablePartialRendering to false, but it still doesn't help.
I have a display problem when I try to use a ajax combobox inside a tab control: when my tab control loads on the page where the combobox is, everything works fine; however, if it loads on a another page, the you change to the page which contains the combobox, the right button (which opens the list of the combobox) isn't displayed at all.
i want to bind the records from the DB to ajax combobox dynamically based on the serach criteria. the record count may be around 6000. use ajax combobox and show 10 records at a time. how to do this. i am new to ajax combobox.
How can I get all the textboxes inside a create user wizard control using getElementsByTagName().
Below is my JQuery code:
[Code]....
The above code isn't displaying hint text when the textbox retreives focus.
I think there is something wrong with this getElementsByTagName("asp:TextBox"); , I have also tried getElementsByTagName("TextBox"); , getElementsByTagName(":textbox"); and getElementsByTagName("input"); .
But no one of them gets the textboxes array.
Can anyone tell what will be the correct syntax for getting all the textboxes inside a create user wizard control using getElementsByTagName()?
The combobox which comes with the new ajaxcontroltoolkit doesnot work with the cascadingdropdownlist contrrol already with the ajaxcontroltoolkit old version.
I currently have an Instance of the ASP.net ajax control toolkit combo box residing in a field set with a style of position:releative applied. The control also sits in a very plain table.
There are two problems with the display of the list:
The list does not sit flush with the text box. In I.E. 7 (which is the majority of my target audience, intranet where IE7 is the company standard) the list display about 10px below the fieldset, which is what the bottom margin of the fieldset is set to. In FF 2.0 the list sits sinificantly lower and off-set to the right.
Below the filed set there is more content in a div, also with a style of position:relative applied. The list from the combo box displays behind the content of this div, which is obviously an issue.
Removing position: releative from the fieldset resolves the display issue of the combo box, but results in other unwanted display side effects.
I've just downloaded the latest Ajax libraries. I have a web site with dozens of ComboBoxes that worked fine until intalling the new libraries. Now the combobox dropdown lists, show behind the other ComboBoxes on the page. There was also an issue where the dropdown lists didn't display in the proper position, the div they are contained in is set to Position:Relative, I had to add position:absolute ! important along with coordinates of coarse to the css .WindowsStyle ul
i am using ajaxtoolkit:combobox and i tried to bind data to this control in code behind file.but it is taking 3 to 4 mints to bind data and display the page. I am providing my aspx code and code behind code here
[Code]....
Code behind code: [Code]....
GetPrograms() method will return almost 6000 records. to load the control it is taking almost 4 minuts..
I am Developing a database web applicationI am Creating web controls on page at runtime i.e in Page_Init event. No textbox are placed on .aspx page at design timeI have a datatable filled with a single record.now i want to bind a textbox (created at runtime) with a column of datatable so that when a page is loaded value in datatable's column is displayed in textbox.Other Important thing i want is when i make any changes in Textbox, It should be reflected automatically in a column to which textbox is binded. So while saving records i can save it directly from datatable. I dont want to write following tedious code before savinge.g.
I am trying to bind a record to a textbox using a Dropdown selected index change. I get the error.
Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value 'DrFirstName DrLastName,Ph.D.' to data type int. is it because I concatenate the name and prefix of the DR into the Dropdown list like this,
Code: SELECT ID,EmailAddress, DrName + ',' + PreFix AS DrName FROM DrNames
Here is the dropdownlist code that I want to populate the textbox with the emailaddress in the table associated with Dr name and ID.
Code: Private Sub DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles DropDownList1.SelectedIndexChanged Dim dt As New DataTable() If DropDownList1.SelectedItem.Text = "OTHER,..." Then txtRx1.Visible = True DropDownList1.Visible = False End If
i am trying to bind rating control from my database. example like. Orkut Answer streangth. i have three option Yes, No and cant say and according database value, i want to show stranth for that option.
I am new to Ajax Control Toolkit, with the help of online tutorials I had created a cascading dropdown list in asp.net and tested it on my local machine. For this dropdown list data source would be an xml file (which is saved on my local machine c drive). I haven't encountered any issues until I deploy the precompiled web site on to IIS 7. When I open the web site from IIS I would see the two dropdown boxes on the web page with an error "Method error 500". I believe this error occured due to incorrect xml file path provided on IIS. I had copied xml and xsd files into IIS server C drive but it did not help out and then I created a network map and placed the xml and xsd files in that shared folder tried to access that path from web service, it's working on local machine but not on IIS. It would be great, if any one could explain me the solution.
