AJAX :: How To Use The Update Panel To Validate Fields And Do No Postbacks
Jul 17, 2010
I have an CONTACTS page.It has the 4 textboxes, the SEND button and the validation control for the 4 textboxes. How can i use an update panel, so when the user clicks on the SEND BUTTON, it does not do a postback ?
I am trying to create a simple web application that uses a barcode scanner to read the barcode and then insert the information into a database. I have been able to get the barcode scanner to read the barcode and place the information into a textbox.
The problem that I am having is that I can get it to post back 26 times then it will go to error (with no information). If I then add additional controls to the page I can only get it to post back 10 times. Below is my code... I have been pulling my hair out for the last two days.
I have a user control which has a gridview with hidden fields in some of the template columns. The grid columns are created and bound by code dynamically in each postback and not in design mode. The gridview is placed in an update panel. In my aspx page where i use the user control , there is a dropdown which fires postback and based on the selected value of the dropdown the grid data gets filtered. The dropdown in aspx is not part of any update panel.
After the postback of dropdown, the grid data gets filtered and the grid is rebound with fresh values. The values in the controls like label, button or link button are bound correctly. But the values in the hidden fields are not refreshed and always points to the values of the rows that was generated before the postback of the page (initial page load).
I am having an issue where i have fields on a form that contains an update panel that i want to do Jquery validation on. The issue is when i click the OK button, the validation error message appears then goes away. the code is below:
I am using update panel in my ASP.net page for partial page postbacks. I have gridview and a button "Export" which on click will call the Export method from the below class. If I remove the update Panel everything will work as expected. But if there is a update panel it will not work and throws this error.
Below is the code for the
using System; using System.Data; using System.Configuration; using System.IO; using System.Web; using System.Web.Security; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts; using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls;
I have one update panel inside updatepanel i have one dropdownlist .When i change dropdownlist value so as per value button1 which is out of updatepanel not visible =true or false as per dropdownlist value.
I have a peculiar situation at hand in which I need to validate a pair of dates in an ASP.Net web app. This is how my page looks like : I have a "From Date" field which consists a set of three dropdownlists ( for Year , Month and Date) I have a "To Date" field which also consists a set of three dropdownlists ( for Year , Month and Date). There is a "Download Report" button on the screen ( which allows a user to download a report for the specified date range) All these six dropdownlists are wrapped in a user control. Now all the 6 dropdownlists have a default "please select" value. When a user lands on the page for the first time , all dropdownlists are set to "please select". The "Download" button is enabled only after valid 'From' and 'To' dates are selected. Now my requirement is that :
When a user lands on the page for the first time , no attempt to validate the dates should be made until he selects all the 6 dropdownlists at least once. When the 6th dropdownlist is selected , the From and To dates should be validated. Once a user has selected all 6 dropdowns once , subsequently on every dropdownlist postback , the dates should be validated. My Issue: What's the best way to track these 6 distinct postbacks ( for each of the dropdowns) before starting to validate the From and To Dates. I could maintain a flagin ViewState .. but is there a better way?
I have an AJAX Modal Popup panel that contains a RadioButtonList, 2 labels and 2 DropDowns. I want to update the Labels and DropDowns when a radio button is selected. My attempt at this posts back which causes the ajax popup to disappear.
aspx called on image click: <asp:Panel ID="pnlModalContainer" runat="server"> <asp:RadioButtonList ID="rblTest" runat="server" RepeatDirection="Horizontal" OnSelectedIndexChanged="rblTest_SelectedIndexChanged"> [code]...
I'm new to the world of Update Panels and i'm having a hard time figuring out how to use them properly.
I have a form that has a table(TABLE1)...and inside TABLE1 i am linking to a sql data source....at the bottom of the table i have a 'Add' button.
When the user clicks the add button...a modal popup appears (POPUP1) and inside the POPUP1 the user can click a link that can add a user...when the link button is clicked...a panel within POPUP1 is set to visible = true.
I have one update panel around the whole table and the add button...when i click add and then click the link to add a user....the modal popup disappears.
I have a formview in Edit Mode, within an update Panel all and these arewithin a Modal Pop Up extender. On clicking Formview Update button, I want an image to appear within the pop up.I have put the image within another panel1 and runat server. For some reason the image is not showing on clicking update button.
I have a user control, that has an update panel and update progress control in it.
I use this user control in more than 1 location on the same page.... problem is, when ucA posts back, I see the update progress control for both ucA and ucB. I assume this is because it is a user control and the update panel and progress are named the same?
Either way - how do I make it so that the update progress only displays for the proper user control?
I've exempted the irrelevant bits of code. Essentially, I am trying to change the URL of an image control inside of an update panel inside of a custom user control from a function called inside an update panel from my main page. Using UpdatePanel.Update() isn't working: I end up waiting for the next full page POST to occur before all the updates I make to CustomControl from buttons within the main page's update panel are visible. I verified that Update() was being called via the debugger: there are no issues in that department.
Here, you can see Custom Control and the Button declared. The button is in an update panel to avoid giving a full POST and causing the whole page to reload.
This control stores images within their own seperate update panels because rerendering the images is very slow (it requires processing arrays of millions of datapoints) and the user only ever needs to modify one image at a time. I'm using Image1 as an example.

I am building a system for a school project. I currently have several Update Panels on the page that have many different controls on them. I also have a single Label control that i use to display messages to the user. I would like to have this label within an update panel also but there are literally hundreds of triggers that would require it to be updated and i dont want to type an absurd number of triggers for this one control. Is there a way for me to have this one panel update regardless of what happens?
i am confused about the fact that if partial update of dropdowns is possible through Update Panel ,then why we should use asp.net ajax Cascading drop down extender ,that has made same task bit complex by making callback to web services ? what is difference between using update panel and cascading drop down extender ?
I have update panel , in update panel i have one button control which exposes onlientClick event ( it dosent have click event to do postback to server).
and i have one updateprogress panel. So my problem is though i'm performing operation on client side , internally the async event is firing and making updateprogress panel to act (having rotation gif image) which i dont want , as it rotates for 10-15 sec more even after the operation at client side is done !
