Web Forms :: Add A File Upload Progress Bar To The Existing File Uploader?

Jan 10, 2010

Is there a way to add a file upload progress bar to the existing .net file uploader? I have an uploader on my site that has all kinds of things tied to it that I can't change to use an AJAX uploader. Or as far as I know I can't. So I was wondering if anyone knew how to add the progress bar to the asp.net uploader.

Data Controls :: File Type And Extension Validation For Multiple File Upload Controls Using Custom Validator

May 7, 2015

I was referring muddasar's one of the article for the validation. Below is my code and i am trying to validate the file upload selected file format on the submit button. I have 4 upload control and  fu1 is mandatory field and others are not mandatory fields. Though i need to validate all the four uploads if the files have been selected. My full sample code is below for easy testing,

<asp:FileUpload runat="server" ID="fu1" />
<asp:Label ID="lblMessage1" runat="server"></asp:Label>
<asp:FileUpload runat="server" ID="fu2" />
<asp:Label ID="lblMessage2" runat="server"></asp:Label>

[code]...

I am doing slight mistake on the return to the main function. if i test indvidual function it works fine. whereas if i include the 4 functions in one function  with the return statement, it's not validating. goes to to the server.

AJAX :: Multiple UpdatePanel And UpdateProgress - Web UI To Be Updated With The Progress

Jan 31, 2010

I want to trigger two Async Postbacks at once using UpdatePanel's via their associated buttons such as the example at the end of [URL] When you click the first button, then immediately click the second button, the first button's message never gets updated. By clicking the second button, the first async Post back seems to be cancelled. Why does this happen?

I saw this article about only allowing one postback to occur at a time here: [URL] Is this the desired behavior for Multiple update panels? Can only one run async code at once? What's the point of it being async if you can't do multiple at once? Here's what I'm trying to do overall: I want a webpage where I click a button which causes C# code to search a certain webpage and parse it. Based on the parsed information, it should automatically start searching multiple other webpages. All the while, I want the web UI to be updated with the progress.

Button Press and the client UI says "Searching..." Then the webpage is found so I want to display "Parsing..." Then the webpage parsing is complete and multiple other websites are searched at the same so the UI will display:

Webpage 1 updating...
Webpage 2 updating...
Webpage 3 updating...

Then when the Webpage 1 -3 are done updating, they change their progress message to Complete. I just started looking into ASP a few days ago and I have two ideas how to approach this problem: zy first idea was to use UpdatePanels and UpdateProgress because they seemed easy to get in there. However, the part of updating multiple webpage status messages at once doesn't appear to be possible since I can't have two UpdatePanels updating at the same time to make changes to the client UI. The one that is started second takes over the processing and the client UI isn't refreshed until that second asynch postback is complete. Ideally, there would be a way to refresh the UpdatePanel's mid postback............

AJAX :: Create A Progress Bar Based On Progress Of AJAX Handler?

Sep 7, 2010

I've got a plain C# web page that uses jQuery to call a handler page using AJAX. While the handler content is loading, a message "Please Wait, loading..." is displayed. Once I've got the content back from the handler I hide the loading message and display the content.What I'd like to do is after the loading message, display a percentage of how far through the handler page is. All the handler page does is loop through a list of members, powered by a web service, and adds them to the database so I know exactly how many members are being added to the database so I can tell how far I am through.The problem I'm having is because all of this goes on in a handler, how can I send the progress percentage back to the main web page while the handler was still loading.Any ideas? If I could do the exact same task but differently which would allow me to create the progress bar,

C# - Make A Progress Bar That Updates The User On The Progress Of The AJAX Call?

Apr 14, 2010

I'm trying to make a progress bar that updates the user on the progress of the AJAX call.

My immediate thinking was that I need an AJAX call to start a thread on the server, allowing the starting AJAX call to finish, and allowing the thread to send updates back to the user.

For the purpose of simplicity, disregard the actual progress bar functionality (I was thinking of implementing one of those JS bars, with fancy colors and effects ;), but if I can get an update from the thread, then updating a simple JS progress bar becomes trivial ;) )

AJAX :: Update Progress Control Ie8 - Progress Indicator Does Not Hide?

Feb 16, 2010

I have a wierd issue with the update progress control in ie8. I have a modal popup that loads a pdf in an iframe, then i have a button click that navigates away from the pdf and shows a form in the same modal. All this is wrapped in an update panel, which i have an update progress control associated with. The control shows correctly in ie7, firefox, safari, and chrome. But in ie8 when the async post back is complete the progress indicator does not hide, until I click on the screen or scroll the page, then it hides and the form shows.

C# - Upload A File To Multiple Servers

Mar 6, 2010

I see a ton of questions about uploading multiple files, but none about uploading a single file to multiple servers, so here goes... I have an ASP.NET app that will be running on two load balanced servers, and I would like to allow users to upload files and have them end up on both servers. What is the cleanest way to do this? I am using IIS 6 btw. Some ideas that come to mind are:

1) Use a virtual directory that points to some shared location that both servers can access. Will there be any access issues if the application runs at Network Service? I'm assuming the application will need to run as a user account that exists on the shared location machine. How should the permissions be set for this?

2) It would be nice if I could via jQuery post the request to both of my servers, referencing them by their port numbers. Even though the servers are on the same domain, this violates the same origin policy, right? Is there another solution I'm overlooking? How do other sites do this?
