Data Controls :: File Type And Extension Validation For Multiple File Upload Controls Using Custom Validator
May 7, 2015
I was referring muddasar's one of the article for the validation. Below is my code and i am trying to validate the file upload selected file format on the submit button. I have 4 upload control and fu1 is mandatory field and others are not mandatory fields. Though i need to validate all the four uploads if the files have been selected. My full sample code is below for easy testing,
I am doing slight mistake on the return to the main function. if i test indvidual function it works fine. whereas if i include the 4 functions in one function with the return statement, it's not validating. goes to to the server.
I tried this tutorial [URL] .... It doesn't work with and vs 2010, and ajax control toolkit 4 ( I downloaded from link belowand vs 2010) and It doesn't work with ajaxcontroltollkit 3.5 I downloaded from same link.but when i put Your AjaxControlToolkit.dll in bin folder of my project it works fine.
I downloaded the same version of tolkit.dll as yours (3.0.30930.0) and I worked for me.

have a gridview in that i have checkbox and file upload controls and common submit button outside gridview.if i checked a row checkbox and i need to check whether the file upload control contains any value or not.if checkbox is checked and file upload control contains values then i will insert the details into database table.if not means i will show a message. if not checked means its not a problem no need to validate the control. how to do this..
I've been trying to get a custom validator component working that ensures at least one checkbox from a checkboxlist has been checked. I've been used some code I found on dotnetjunkies.com but the client-side validation didn't work. I've been attempting to modify it to get the client-side javascript validation to work with no luck. Basically, I compile the below code into a DLL and add it to my bin folder.

I'm trying to let the user download different documents where the data is stored in an SQL DB. In firefox, the filetype is correctly read, but not in IE. I'm trying to do this without having to set the ".pdf" or whatever extension the document has, because I haven't got that information. I only have the filetype.
how to filter the file type with the file upload control in asp.net & c#.net for example on clicking the browse button of the file upload control ,it should open browse file dialog with only excel file types.
i saw a post you wrote a few years ago, and you were saying how to do this task, but it was required te change the encription type. Since i'm in a user Control (and inside a Master Page), i've been trying several solutions in the web, but none of them has been satisfactory.
Actually i am using JavaScript validation for Image or Word or Excel File & its working perfectly. My aim is making its full professional.
For Example When you use Photoshop and open any file you see only those extension which are applicable for Photoshop i.e. jpg, jpeg bmp, psd, png etc. You never see .doc, .xls or any other which are not open with Photoshop. This is i want to do, When i open for an Image it should show only Image Type file extension in file type By default its its showing All Files, As i use extension validation in JavaScript, it never accept .doc or .xls files in Image Type Validation but it will show. I want only that file type show for which i open.
and in code behind I am trying to get this file. Its not letting me to get the file until I use server side input file control. I don't want to use runat="server" attribute with my file control.
this is my compelete code for validation type and display image with AsyncFileUplaodI'd like to upload only png, jpg, gifI can upload Image and have its preview successfullyand when try to upload another type It prevents and fortunately I can see this message"Upload a valid file with extension png, jpg, gif."but UnfortunatelyIt shows a message box with this errotUnhandled Exception: this._innerTB is null what's my mistake?

I am using the async file upload control to upload to a image file. I want the user to upload only jpg files. And for that I am checking the uploadedfile content type in server side, after the upload complets. I wanna check this, before upload starts. There is one javascript method
function startUpload(sender, args){}
but how to access the content type of the file selected by user.
I have a fileupload on my page which only accepts PDF Files and to do this i have a Regular Expression Validator to check the extension of the files. step 1 load pagestep 2 browse and select a txt file using fileupload then validator error is displayedstep 3 browse and select a pdf file using fileupload then no validator error.step 4 Upload the file using a Button and on post back i can see the validator error is displayed again.how can i remove the validator error on postback without hidding the control.?
Okay, maybe it's a bit pedantic, but do ASP.NET user controls HAVE to have an ascx extension?
My reason for wanting to know this is purely academic. I made the statement to someone that they usually have an ascx extension, but then I had the curious thought of if that was always true or not.
I like how the "Html.ValidationMessageFor" and "Html.ValidationSummary" helpers work for validating textboxes, such as for required fields. Is there some way I can accomplish the same thing for a file input control? From the examples I've seen so far you cannot directly bind a file upload to your model, so I can't use the [Required] attribute that I am using for the textboxes.
