I'm trying to execute a linkButton inside a updatePanel, but was giving the follow error:

I have gone through several posts on this forum about adding a linkbutton to an updatepanel dynamically. A lot of them say just give it a unique ID and some say you have to register add an AsyncPostBackTrigger to the triggers collection. I have tried both and neither work. I have this simple test that I created - the code is below - there is nothing else in this project but the code you see so I know nothing else is interfering with it.
I have also seem people complaining that the linkbutton causes the entire page to postback - in my case nothing happens... I have seen people talk about having to add the triggers on the page init however I can't do that - I am dynamically creating menus based on a selection in a listbox... (not in this simple test but in a larger project) I am using Visual web developer express 2010 if that makes any difference.

What is INCREDIBLY odd is that it is exactly the same code from three different pages, but the first refuses to open in a new window. The only difference is that the first example resides within an Ajax Accordian Panel so I suspect that it might be an Ajax related issue.

I have a page which allows a user to open an UpdatePanel (with an AJAX Modal Popup Extender) from where the user can submit information. The UpdatePanel contains a LinkButton which allows the user to view a PDF file associated with the particular product in a new tab without having any effect on the page, or UpdatePanel, from where the event is launched.
I tried accomplishing this using Response.Redirect, Window.Open and Server.Transfer with mixed results. Using Response.Redirect has to affect that the page from which the event is launched reloads in the process closing the UpdatePanel and reloading the page in a manner that the page's formatting (DIV's) is completely scrambled, but the PDF does open in a new tab.URL...The methods proposed in the article comes extremely close to the final effect I need to create. The only problems I have using this method is:
1) the PDF opens in a new page or browser instance and not in a new tab,
2) soon after opening in the new page a blank error message appears with an Adobe Acrobat title and the new page closes the moment the error message's OK button is clicked, and
3) a new tab is opened, is absolutely empty.
On the upside: the page from where the event is launched remains perfectly intact.

i am using a TabContainer and at each TabPanel i have embed an UpdatePanel in order to update each tab alone.

the problem is that it makes several seconds to update each tab (the same time for every tab) and i asume that this is happening because it updates all the TabContainer and not the selected Tab.
I have a pop-up CustomControl which I use in a large-scale web application. The pop-up works well everywhere other than when used inside an asp:UpdatePanel, the problem arises when controlling the visibility of the pop-up (the pop-up is nested in a table) with other controls:
When I click the button to open the window I get Error: Object expected and when I try to debug the error with IE 8 JSEditor I get ``Source Code is not available for this location.
I believe that the code of the pop-up is not being initialized completely, but it is just my guess and I don't know how to resolve this issue.

First, I've taken the time to review this question which seems to be the most similar, however, the solution that seems to have been selected will not work in my scenario.Not to mention I worry about some of the comments claiming it to be brittle or an inadequate solution.

-Links use a custom user control that is used standard for all links across the application (why suggestion on similar thread doesn't work - I don't want all links to open in a new window - just one)

Given this scenario, I'm trying to find the best way to quickly open a New Window, when a specific case in this switch statement is met. Can it be done with Response Redirect (this seems to be arguable - people say no it can't, yet other people say they have made it work)? If not, what alternative can work here?

I have a master page that contains a menu, the menu contains links to pages outside the website, how do get those links to open up in the main contentplaceholder of the master page? I tried setting the target to the ID of the contentplaceholder but that didnt work.
