I have a databound listbox that is inside an update panel. When selecting an item in the listbox, I want it to populate labels in a panel that are displayed in a modalpopup. When I click on the listbox, I can see that the data is passed to the labels and the modal.Show() is executed by stepping through the code. However, the modalpopup comes up but with no data.

I have a web user control with one updatepanel (pnlUpdate_2), some controls and one apply button. I display the web user control as a modalpopup in my default page. In my default page i have an updatepanel (pnlUpdate_1) with a gridview and I modify that gridview with the apply button of the web user control. The web user control is for made a custom search of the gridview data. I have a problem with both updatepanels. If I set the updatemode as always in one of them (pnlUpdate_1) and the other as conditional (pnlUpdate_2), the pnlUpdate_1 make a postback in the pnlUpdate_2; I'm not an expert on this but I think that's why the pnlUpdate_2 disappear and reappear after postback of some controls in that updatepanel (not the apply button, it close the modal after postback). I try all the combinations and the problem persists. So I put both updatepanels as conditional and in some way it works; now the problem is that when I click the apply button in pnlUpdate_2 to modify the gridview in pnlUpdate_1 the pnlUpdate_1 not made the postback I get the pnlUpdate_2 postback when I use some control inside the pnlUpdate_1.
How can I postback the pnlUpdate1 from pnlUpdate_2 with the apply button?

When I select any item in combobox, then it's selection change event is fired and there iI set the values of other controls and finally I call update method of update panel. Functionality wise it works properly but it takes a time to update the panel.Here combobox contains around five thousands of items. But when it contains 100s of items it works good.

I have an updatepanel with detailsview in it. Detailsview contains two template items, Country and State. In the readonly state, label is used to dispaly the values. In the Edit and Insert mode, dropdownlist is used. Objectdatasource is set as the datasource for dropdownlist. When the selectedindex changed for country dropdownlist, the corresponding states should be fetched. I have set a select parameter in state objectdatasource. I could not set controlparameter in state datasource as in the readonly mode, dropdownlist is not available. So, i used onselecting event of state datasource to set the value(i.e selectedvalue of the coutry). But what i observed is that seletiing event is not firing when a postback happens because of coutry selectedindex change. I found that post back is happening due to the event and country datasource is selecting, but it si not refreshing the state list.

If I select AH, for example, and then scroll down to select XY, the listbox jumps back up to the top of the list instead of staying on XY. Listbox's autopost back is set to True. As I need to get selected values and then pass it to another web page to display a crystal report. The report web page is opened using JavaScript Window.Open and on page load of the web page that contains the listbox this JavaScript is added to a button. Is there a way I can stop my list box jumping back to the 1st item?
View 13 RepliesI have a problem and i have been stuck on it for a while now: I have a ListBox generated dinamically on the page at the first init of the page. That part of the page will never make a postback again while being used.
Say i have 10 UpdatePanels in the same page and there will be a maximum of 10 ListItems in my ListBox. How can i make every ListItem in the ListBox be a trigger for my existing UpdatePanels , so that when i doubleclick one ListItem , the apropiate UpdatePanel will be updated ? Or if you have any other close solutions.
In my web application, i have declared modalpopup extender and corresponding div(popup control) inside master page to make it generic. In my page i am using updatepanel with a button inside it. Clicking on this button will fire the modalpopup extender. Before calling show() of modalpopup i am setting some text to a label inside the popup control. But when the popup comes, the updated text is not showing.
View 3 RepliesI have a simple form with a list of linkbuttons, each fires the same onclick event which sets an indicator image. I have a dummy button with style="display:none" which I have set as the TargetControlID of the modal.
onClick event from the imagebutton, the modal is shown via modal.Show(). The cancel button inside the modalpopup fires an event which turns off the indicator image and hides the modal via modal.Hide().
The events fire perfectly, it's very simple! Although after doing some testing I noticed the modalpopup is not presented after the 6-10th cycle of clicking the open event, then clicking cancel. The grey background appears but it is behind the main panel and the modal is either presented behind this or is just simply not displaying.
I spent hours researching various methods, implemented the CancelControlID to see if it was somehow tied to my call of modal.Hide() that fails.This occurs with an updatepanel only. The behaviour is much cleaner this way, so I would hope to be able to implement this. I have basically eliminated everything but these two events!
I have a CheckBox that is located inside a SelectItem Template. The CheckBox has Autopostback= true. Located outside the list view is a label. I have seen this discussed in number of topics, but so far nothing to address my specific issue. I want to display the page the client, and then trigger an updatepanel refresh that will populate with data that takes 3-4 seconds to load (the rest of the page loads very fast). At the same time I want to display "...Loading..." text using UpdateProgress control.
Everything is working below in the sample code. However, UpdateProgress will not display unless the button is actually clicked by the user. In real production scenario I would hide the button. To invoke the immediate UpdatePanel refresh I trigger the click via Javascript. I have also tried "__DoPostBack" without success.

I got an updatepanel which contains a normal panel on MasterPage. The updatepanel does not contain content place holder. On the content page, I have to add triggers to updatepanel for buttons that are dynamically created on "page_load" event. The problem is that, since the page_load event of content page is being called before master page's page_load event, UpdatePanel is not being created. So that, whenever i try to add triggers in page_load event of content page, i got an error like "A control with ID 'ctl00$editableContent$ctl42' could not be found for the trigger in UpdatePanel 'up1'."

I've got a page with two ContentPlaceHolders. In first there is UpdatePanel with GridView. In second I located DropDownList which is trigger for UpdatePanel.

Running the page causes error: "Control with ID 'ATDropDownList" could not be found for the trigger in UpdatePanel". I thought it was because the ATDropDownList is located inside ContentPlaceHolder. So I changed ATDropDownList's ID to UniqueID as follow:

The difficult part is that now I need to pass parameter/parameters to server side and grab it in code-behind
so that I can use this information to render the chart.
The parameter/parameters can only be grab in client side by javascript since it is jQuery.data().
I am trying to work around this by saving it to a hidden field, that is not neat though.

I have a page that displays data depending upon the date range entered by the user into two textboxes. I have added the CalendarExtender control from the Ajax Toolbox to each of these two textboxes, and I would like the associated updatePanel to refresh with new data whenever either of the two dates is changed. Sounds simple enough, but I have not been able to manage it so far.
View 7 RepliesThis GridView contains a TemplateField with a LinkButton that displays a text value. When the link button is clicked, the code behind needs to capture the text value of the button, and then refresh the GridView with an asynchronous postback within the UpdatePanel and display the updated output.
The post-back event is occurring, and I'm able to capture the event in Visual Studio 2010 debugger. But, the screen contents do not change after this event occurs. No exception gets thrown, at least from what I can see in debugger.
Portions of the sanitized code appear below. The GridView actually appears on a page that contains 2 dropdown lists and 2 other GridViews. There is just one UpdatePanel on this page.

I can put a break point in the above method, and it is captured when the lnkHostName button is clicked. Stepping through the lnkHostName_Click() method, the ReloadPage() method successfully runs, then executes this method:

This runs successfully, and the DataSet which gets returned contains 1 row of data rather than several rows. This is what I expect to happen. Once the filter is selected in my test case just 1 row should get returned. The problem is that I don't see that output refreshed on the screen. The grdProcesses gridview continues to display the original dataset of several rows, rather than just one row of data. To additionally test this, I tried setting the visibility of grdProcesses to false within this method when the HostName had a value. Again, this ran without an error, but the GridView was still visible. And I also tested by updating the contents of a label with the HostName value. The new value was never displayed in the label. I also tried putting the lnkHostName button into the triggers, ala:

But the following exception gets thrown when that button is added, "A control with ID 'lnkHostName' could not be found for the trigger in UpdatePanel 'upMain'."
What's frustrating is that everything appears to run smoothly in debugger. But in reality the expected output never gets refreshed on the screen. Perhaps I need to use an alternate trigger in the AsyncPostBackTrigger. I'm open to using a command button or some other artifact.
