View 1 RepliesI've got an ASP.NET web application (utilizing WebForms) and am using Uploadify to handle uploading large files. This is done by posting the file to an HttpHandler.
Example of code (simplified for demonstration purposes):
$(".uploadify").uploadify({[CODE]....
the progress bar being displayed doesn't actually reflect the progress of the upload, and shows the upload as being complete long before the file is actually uploaded. Therefore, the user interface effectively appears like it is doing nothing while the progress bar stays at 100%, until the file is complete.
In some cases, the upload simply fails after reaching 100%, with the OnComplete event never getting fired, almost like the response from the HttpHandler is getting lost in transit, even though the file is saved.I've tried both Flajaxian and SWFUpload, and experienced similar issues with the progress bar being completely out of sync with actual upload progress, indicating completion well before the upload was actually complete.
This problem is not apparent when testing locally, or with small files (typically under a few megabytes) as these tend to upload fairly quickly and there's little or no lag between the file being uploaded and the progress bar completing. Is there any way of using a Flash upload solution (such as Uploadify) with an ASP.NET web application and have the progress bar better represent the actual progress of the upload?
Update: Eventually, I gave up trying to use a flash based uploader as they seemed a bit too awkward, especially the progress bar, which didn't represent the actual progress of the upload at all. Replaced this with Brettle NeatUpload instead which works much better.
I want to show progress bar while uploading data in database.. How can it be achieved. Also a message be displayed if file uploaded or not...
View 1 RepliesWhile i am Uploading Some Video Files from my asp.net website(C#) for the first time, i foud some error which i am furnishing here under
"Access to the path 'D:inetpubvhostsdemon4netsalt.comhttpdocsStudy MaterialVideo+1' is denied."
Description:An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'D:inetpubvhostsdemon4netsalt.comhttpdocsStudy MaterialVideo+1' is denied.ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6 and IIS 7, and the configured application pool identity on IIS 7.5) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.
i am planning to save my files in side the "
Study MaterialVideo+1,
Study MaterialVideo+2, etc..
" Folders

I want to play video / audio files on asp .net page.
client has following requirements
1) It can play all the popular formats
2) It can use installed player (if windows media player or any other) or it can run inside browser (i.e. Flash player)
I have already explored different options i.e. silverlight, Windows media services & flash player Among these three silverlight is discarded as there very few browsers having that plug in.
I have an accordin in my asp.net page, users can upload document and images, and I save the image and document path on sql server, and get the information from there,to show the document and image which are saved in web server,
How can I show loading image, or progress bar, when the user first connect to the web server?
Is it OK to use threading.sleep in an intranet web application to display AJAX loading (in production environment)? Off course, the application works fine without it but all works too quick for the end user or even a developer to notice any difference. What is the recommended approach ?
View 1 RepliesI have to add a progress bar on my web page to show the progress of submission. My page on submit saves the data in the database. I have to show user how long will the submission take place. For an e.g., 50% Completed and so on..
View 4 Replies I am using a master page which has a table that is used for layout. In one of the cells I have a Accordion control which holds links in each panel to navigate to the various pages. I have a few pages that take some time to load so I was trying to use the update panel progress control, however it seems that you cannot use a hyperlink or a link button as triggers for the update panel or if you can you cannot if it is in an accordion control.
So I am seeking advice on how to show a loading message when the pages load in the content panes.
I have an UpdatePanel and I want to show a progress image when submitting in the center of that UpdatePanel....

View 1 RepliesI have a webpage where users can create a database record and select a file they want to upload to the database server. these files can be big, like 100mb.
I dont want the user to wait, so I want the file to be uploaded in the background. So that they can continue with doing other stuff while the file is being uploaded.
Is BITS the way to go for this? Or is that only for Fatclient development? Any good tuterials
?
If BITS is not the way to go, what are my options? An ajax call to a services with the filelocation?
I'm using the asyncfileupload control, and have it woking to an extent. I'm able to upload the image to the relevant directory and save it's path to the database. The problem I'm having is that I am unable to upload a 2nd file once the first has completed without refreshing the page.
View 3 Repliesi want to build a custom control using javascript on client side and ashx on server side.
I know about SWFUpload, how can i configure it with ashx on server side.
any tutorial how i can use FLASH objects to transfer files from client to server. i been looking for such tutorial for a while that uses flash object on client side and sends file info using bytes array to the server. also i want to reduce the size of the file on the client side before sending to safe bandwidth.
basically my client side is pure HTML/CSS/Jquery and Javascript using Ajax and my server side is ASP.NET with C# and most ASHX

On my aspx page I have a slidshow extender.
In the code behind I am filling a data table from the datbase and using GetSlides() Method to show the images in the slideshow.
The problem is I have a file upload control on the page as well. When I upload a new file I am expecting it to show in the slideshow after
postback but it does not. Only when I click refresh again or cause another postback the second time does the new image show.

I want to create a site like youtube.
I am upload the file at server side successfully.
But now i want to take a Snap of the Video file at a time of uploading.
I've got a plain C# web page that uses jQuery to call a handler page using AJAX. While the handler content is loading, a message "Please Wait, loading..." is displayed. Once I've got the content back from the handler I hide the loading message and display the content. What I'd like to do is after the loading message, display a percentage of how far through the handler page is. All the handler page does is loop through a list of members, powered by a web service, and adds them to the database so I know exactly how many members are being added to the database so I can tell how far I am through. The problem I'm having is because all of this goes on in a handler, how can I send the progress percentage back to the main web page while the handler was still loading.Any ideas? If I could do the exact same task but differently which would allow me to create the progress bar,
View 2 RepliesI am totally desparate with the task of Video Conversion, uploading & streaming. I have gone through various articles, posts, blogs and code snipped but couldnt find any full working solution for that.I was advised to work with ffmpeg and i got the functionality [URL]but later i come to know that most asp.net servers (including mine) do not allow to ffmpeg on the server.
Then i look for other solutions, some are saying to convert video files manually and then upload to website (funny hannn). Some are suggesting other site which can store our video and stream from there servers .....So i am stuck now and dont know where to go. I need a complete solution of this problem. Like Users could upload a video file (of any format or at least a good number of choice for upload file format), then they click an upload button and video conversion (e.g. to .flv took place) and the output should be displayed to a user in video player (showing our own logo, not youtube logo....etc.) and thats it.I will definately appreciate all of your comments and guidence.
does anyone have any sample code/tutorials on processing a video file uploaded to Azure (.mov, .3gp, .avi) and converting it to flash and also creating a thumbnail file after the video has been uploaded as a blob to Azure?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make a progress bar that updates the user on the progress of the AJAX call.
My immediate thinking was that I need an AJAX call to start a thread on the server, allowing the starting AJAX call to finish, and allowing the thread to send updates back to the user.
For the purpose of simplicity, disregard the actual progress bar functionality (I was thinking of implementing one of those JS bars, with fancy colors and effects ;), but if I can get an update from the thread, then updating a simple JS progress bar becomes trivial ;) )
I have a wierd issue with the update progress control in ie8. I have a modal popup that loads a pdf in an iframe, then i have a button click that navigates away from the pdf and shows a form in the same modal. All this is wrapped in an update panel, which i have an update progress control associated with. The control shows correctly in ie7, firefox, safari, and chrome. But in ie8 when the async post back is complete the progress indicator does not hide, until I click on the screen or scroll the page, then it hides and the form shows.
