AJAX :: Thread Was Being Aborted - Update Panel Triggered By Timer?
Feb 8, 2010
I have an ASPX page with several update panels. They all have their UpdateMode="Conditional".
Some panels are refreshed when the user clicks a button and other are refreshed regularly, with a timer.
The panel refreshed with a timer launches a database query and many validations on the data. Then display the result in a panel when errors have been found.
That all works fine except when the validation has to delete files on the disk. (.txt, .jpg, etc it depends). In that case, after the validation is made, I am always kicked out of my website because of the error (Thread was being aborted). So I loose all my session variables which means I am not logged off.
Anybody had that kind of problem ? Is it normal that deleting files AND directories on the server make me loose my session? Is there a way to prevent that ?
I have a simple table with 5 text boxes, above that i have a dropdown where you make a selection, if there are any records of associated with the selection, then i display in the fields..
A while back this was working, you could make a selection and the fields were within a update panel and they were populated. But im revisiting the pages to make some updates and changes and noticing that the page no longer populates the fields when a selection is made..
Is there anyway to debug the updatepanel? I put a breakpoint in my selectedindexchanged event and my Db call is returning values and the textboxes .TEXT values are being assigned the right values in the code behind, but the fields never show up..
This page hasnt been touched since it was wworking last, so need to see how i can test / debug the update panel to determine what coudl be causing it..
i am attempting to use javascript to update the chart, because how i have setup now causes the chart to just disappear. Here is the code i have now: I am calling the chart to page using: on default.aspx
[Code]....
Code on the dataURL_Infrasturcture_Capacity.aspx page:
[Code]....
PROBLEM: So how would i update this using an update panel and timer. Currently when i do it the chart just disappears on update. I believethis is due to the fact that i am calling a dataURL. How would i get this to work javascript?
I am doing a countdown with a timer that runs every second. I have a scriptmanager, but how do I make it update behind the scenes so the user does not see it? I thought I could use an update panel, but I can't get it to work right.
I've a tab container with 4-5 tabs on a page. On the same page, I've three update panels - one outside tab container whilst the other two lie inside two tab panels separately. Update mode of all three update panels are set to Conditional. There is a timer in the first update panel (the one outside tab container). Whenever timer ticks, the other two update panels are also being refreshed. How can I stop this?
I have an Ajax timer that has an interval of 1 second and an update panel on my page. If I leave the page open and never close or refresh I notice that after 6 to 8 hours the timer stops firing. No error messages.......everything just stops. If I refresh the page everything starts working again. Are there any issues I am not aware of when running a page for a long time using the Ajax timer?
I'm having a problem where users with a slow connection aren't getting my image feed properly.i'm sending them new images every second to a picturebox inside an Ajax Update panel, using an Ajax Timer.so if their connection is really slow, one image doesnt load fully before the next one comes in, so they never get the whole picture...And for people with a faster connection, I would like to increase the update rate, and currently I see no way of dynamically setting the update rate.
I have a bit of a strange problem and wondering if anyone can help.I have an update panel that has a timer set as the AsyncPostBackTrigger. In the repeater I have a few buttons which have on click events. The on click of these buttons does not appear to fire until the timer has ticked. My code is as follows:
I run a loop that downloads a lot of smal files from another website
try Loopstarts result = runData() loop ends catch ex1 as exception End try private function runData() as string Dim wc as new WebClient Dim str as string try str = wc.downloadstring(filePath) catch ex2 as exception return "Nothing" end try wc.dispose() finally return str end function
THE Problem is if the file is not found in the RunData function I get 'Thread being aborted' error which stops the not only the function RunData() but also the loop is running in, so I get an error in ex2 as well as ex1. But I want the error to be captured in ex1 and stop, and not effect the loop.
I have read that you need to use Response.End to close the thread or not to capture the 'threadbeingaborted' expception.
BUT how do you do the response.end with a webclient??? (IN vb.net , asp.net 2.0 version
test in VS 2010 Professional and ASP.NET development Server no error.but in Server 2003 and IIS 6 show error:Server Error in '/' Application.Thread was being aborted.Description:An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.Exception Details:System.Threading.ThreadAbortException:Thread was being aborted. I have a textbox txtPctDown inside an update panel. On textchanged, a sub is called that does a calculation and puts the result in to a label in a modal dialog. When the text changes, the sub is reached but the modal dialog doesn't appear. if I eliminate the UpdatePanel then everything works fine. I tried with an without using the textchanged as a trigger.
How do I get the modal dialog to appear when the text changes?
ASP.net VB timer control: in the code behind, when I change a value of a textbox on other control. It does not change if not in panel. Anyway to change a value if not in teh panel.
Sub UpdateTimer_Tick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)Dim x As Integer DateStampLabel.Text = DateTime.Now.ToString() (L_ticks.Text= CInt(L_ticks.Text) + 1 If (cint(L_ticks.Text) = 10 Then L_start.Text = DateTime.Now.ToString() ' reset value not in panel l_diff.Text = DateDiff(DateInterval.Second, CDate(L_start.Text), CDate(DateStampLabel.Text)) End Sub
I am querying the SQL database table and returning the result on the webform with a repeater, but I need to display one record at a time and refresh with an update panel and timer to iterate through the rows of the table one at a time at a fixed interval.
Is there another solution to be able to display one record at a time using c# in the webform, but then cycke through the other records one at a time using a timer control and updatepanel?
i am trying to write a global.asax to send an email notification to auction winners, using visual studio 2008 and sql express. so far i have written this using tutorials etc but i am getting errors to do with finding the database. i am also wondering if my global.asax page is written correctly in general,
We have two update panels on our webpage. Now first update panel is having button cancel. While second update panel is having a file upload control.
Now if the user uploads a file that is going to upload in about 2 mins, and in between, say after 30 seconds the user clicks the cancel button, the upload taking place in update panel 2 should stop.
i have to do some message exchange with a 3rd party (in a website). When the client posts a page, i start the message exchange. When that doesn't succeed for some reason, i report this to the client by rendering the page with a message. On the background, in a separate thread, i start a process to send abort messages to the 3rd party. I can't do this while the user is waiting for the page to come back, because it might take a few minutes. But in a test project, the test ends when the message to the 3rd party is sent, and after the new thread is started. But it seems that the new thread also ends, when the test is done.
Is that normal behaviour?I do start the thread in a new class with a reference to 2 objects from the class which tries to send the message in the first place, may that be a problem?EDIT: it keeps running when the whole process is started in IIS
I have been using the RemotePost Class( as per http://www.jigar.net/articles/viewhtmlcontent78.aspx) to post a form to a pay provider, for about 3 months successfully, I made some changes external from the call to this class that sent an email when user presses the button to notify us that the user has selected to go through to the pay provider (similar to PayPal). and suddenly got an exception error MSCROLIB, Thread was being aborted. I have since removed the code and I still get the error it happens when I call
[Code]....
I tried the suggestion on KB article [URL]/ but the control is not past to the Pay Provider I also took the actual response that is written and posted it to a new html file added a submit button and it works. So I am no stuck. The Pay provider claims they have changed nothing, and has tried to help but says they are receiving no input from either our dev site or the live site.I also tried to step into the call but it just throughs the exception
System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException - System.Web, Thread was being aborted. (C:Inetpubweb.config line 417) at System.Web.Security.Membership.Initialize() at System.Web.Security.Membership.get_Provider() [code]...
When it does the app needs to be restarted to clear the error, every page request after this raises the same bug. Line 417 is the Membrship provider add line in web.config. We're using the UpmMembershipProvider from MS Commerce Server, but it doesn't seem to be hitting this code, it's dying on the ConfigurationErrorsException inside System.Web.Security.Membership.Initializ
